OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of blood activating wind dissipating acupuncture (BAWDA) on blood pressure (BP) of prehypertension (PHT) patients.
METHODSTotally 60 PHT patients were assigned to the control group and the acupuncture group according to random digit table, 30 in each group. All patients were intervened by life style. BAWDA was additionally performed in patients in the acupuncture group for 6 weeks (30 times). The improvement of BP after intervened by acupuncture was observed. BP success rates and the proportion of PHT progressing to hypertension (HT) were also observed after 6-week intervention of acupuncture and at 1-year follow-up.
RESULTSSystolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) decreased after 6-week intervention in the acupuncture. The BP control rate was 56.7% (17/30 cases) in the acupuncture group vs.10.0% (3/30 cases) in the control group with statistical difference (chi2 = 14.70, P < 0.01). At 1-year follow-up BP success rate was 36.7% (11/30 cases) in the acupuncture group, remarkably higher than that of the control group [13.3%, (4/30 cases)] (chi2 = 4.36, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSBAWDA showed BP regulating roles in a gradually stable decreasing tendency. It also could elevate BP success rate of PHT, and reduce the risk of PHT progressing to HT.

Abstract: Objective To find out the existing problems and provide reference for further improving the quality of report information by analyzing the report cards of COVID-19 and the positive report cards of primary screening reported in Ningxia. Methods All COVID-19 case cards from 2020 to 2021 and initial screening positive cards were derived from the Chinese Information System for Disease Control and Prevention according to final review date. The timeliness of case reporting, timeliness of case review, completeness and accuracy of the case cards were analyzed. Results In Ningxia, the first case of COVID-19 was reported on January 20, 2020, and as of December 31, 2021, 122 confirmed cases and 4 symptomatic infected cases were reported. In 2021, the timely reporting rate of COVID-19 was 98.00%, which increased by 8.24% compared with 2020 (90.54%). Compared with 2020, the average time limit for diagnosis to reporting of COVID-19 in 2021 was shortened by 83.12%; in 2021, the timely review rate of COVID-19 was 100.00%, which increased by 13.84% compared with 2020 (87.84%). Compared with 2020, the time from reporting to final review was shortened by 98.91%. In 2021, the timely rate of positive reports in COVID-19 in Ningxia was 90.00%, among which the timely rate of reports by county (district) nucleic acid detection institutions was the highest (92.31%), followed by municipal (91.67%) and autonomous region (81.82%). Conclusions At the beginning of the epidemic in 2020, the timeliness of COVID-19 in Ningxia was poor, and through the implementation of measures such as technical training, supervision and inspection to continuously optimize the staffing of medical institutions and disease control institutions, the timeliness of reporting COVID-19 in Ningxia in 2021 was substantially improved, but there were still some weak links. In the future work, technical guidance and training should be carried out for weak links, and efforts should be made to improve the quality of reports.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the antimicrobial effects of erythromycin microspheres against Mycoplasma pneumoniae in rats.
METHODSWith erythromycin lactobionate as the positive control, erythromycin microspheres at 3 non-toxic doses (0.1, 0.5, and 1.2 g.kg(-1).d(-1)) were administered intragastrically for 6 consecutive days in Wistar rats with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. The general condition and lung index of the rats were observed and measured to assess the therapeutic effects of the treatments against Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection.
RESULTSThe erythromycin microspheres at 0.1, 0.5, 1.2 g.kg(-1).d(-1) significantly alleviated the symptoms of the rats infected with Mycoplasma pneumoniae and reduced the pulmonary index of the infected rats from 1.75 to 1.45, 1.38 and 1.25, respectively (P < 0.01). An obvious dosage-effect relationship was noted between the dose of erythromycin microsphere and the tissue pathologies due to the infection.
CONCLUSIONErythromycin microspheres possess strong activity against Mycoplasma pneumoniae in rats.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the difference in Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection rate between the patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and the patients with benign laryngeal lesions and to explore the role of Hp infection in the pathogenesis of laryngeal squamous carcinoma.
METHODSNested polymerase chain reaction (nPCR) and Hp culture were used to identify the Hp in laryngeal mucosa in 30 patients with laryngeal carcinoma and 15 patients with benign laryngeal lesions including polyps of vocal cords or epiglottic cysts.
RESULTSnPCR showed that Hp-positive rate (73.3%) of patients with laryngeal carcinoma was significantly higher than that (20.0%) of control patients with benign laryngeal lesions (χ(2) = 11.520, P = 0.010). Regarding the 22 positive neoplastic cases that have 44 tissues, out of the 22 tumor tissues, 10 were positive with Hp (45.4%), and among 22 tissues beside the tumor, 19 were positive (86.4%). This event also indicated a statistical significance (χ(2) = 4.697, P = 0.030). Hp culture showed that Hp was negative in all specimens.
CONCLUSIONSHp exist in the laryngeal mucosa, but with the higher rate of Hp infection in the patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma than that in the patients with benign laryngeal lesions, which suggests Hp may be one of pathogenic factors of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

OBJECTIVETo establish a rat model of mycoplasma pneumonia (MP) for investigating the pathogenesis of MP and its therapy with drugs.
METHODSThirty Wistar rats were randomly divided into 6 groups (n=5), including a control group, a MP model group, a erythromycin lactobionate group and 3 erythromycin microspheres groups (high, middle, and low dose groups). With the exception of those in the control group, all the rats received intranasal MP administration followed by corresponding treatments administered via tail vein injection. At different time points after inoculation of the pathogen, the lungs of the rats were taken for histopathological scoring.
RESULTSIn the MP model group, the lung pathology was characterized by patchy interstitial pneumonitis with predominantly lymphocyte infiltration and mucosal edema. The bronchiolar walls became thickened and the lumens narrowed. In erythromycin lactobionate and erythromycin microspheres treatment (high and middle dose) groups, clear cell boundaries were observed in the lungs where no obvious pathological changes were found. RT-PCR amplification showed positive results of MP RNA in the model group, erythromycin lactobionate group and erythromycin microsphere groups.
CONCLUSIONThe approach described is practicable to establish rat models of MP. Erythromycin microspheres can effectively relieve the lung inflammations and has therapeutic effect on MP.

Global longitudinal strain (GLS) at rest on two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D STE) was demonstrated to help detect coronary artery disease (CAD).However, the optimal cut-off point of GLS and its diagnostic power for detecting critical CAD in non-diabetes mellitus (DM) patients are unknown. In the present study,211 patients with suspected CAD were prospectively included, with DM patients excluded. All patients underwent echocardiography and subsequently coronary angiography within 3 days.Left ventricular (LV) GLSs were quantified by 2D STE.Territorial peak systolic longitudinal strains (TLSs) were calculated based on the perfusion territories of the 3-epicardial coronary arteries in a 17-segment LV model.Critical CAD was defined as an area stenosis ≥70% in ≥1 epicardial coronary artery (≥50% in left main coronary artery).Totally 145 patients were diagnosed as having critical CAD by coronary angiography.Significant differences were observed in all strain parameters between patients with and without critical CAD.The area under the receiver operating charcteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) for GLS in the detection of left main (LM) or threevessel CAD was 0.875 at a cut-off value of-19.05% with sensitivity of 78.1% and specificity of 72.7%,which increased to 0.926 after exclusion of apical segments (cut-off value-18.66%;sensitivity 84.4% and specificity 81.8%).The values of TLSs were significantly lower in regions supplied by stenotic arteries than in those by non-stenotic arteries. The AUC for the TLSs to identify critical stenosis of left circumflex (LCX) artery, left anterior descending (LAD) artery and right coronary artery (RCA),in order of diagnostic accuracy, was 0.818 for LCX,0.764 for LAD and 0.723 for RCA,respectively. In conclusion,in non-DM patients with suspected CAD,GLS assessed by 2D STE is an excellent predictor for LM or three-vessel CAD with high diagnostic accuracy, and a higher cut-off point than reported before should be used.Excluding apical segments in the calculation of GLS can further improve the predictive accuracy of GLS.It is unsatisfactory for TLSs to be used to identify stenotic coronary arteries.
