Serum bone alkaline phosphatase (BAP) , osteocalcin (OC) , C-telopeptides of type-1 collagen (CTx) , osteoprotegerin (OPG) levels, and bone mineral density (BMD) were evaluated in 62 hyperthyroid patients and 60 healthy subjects matched for sex and age. In hyperthyroid patients, the biochemical evaluations and bone density were performed before and after 6 months of methimazole ( MMI) treatment. Results showed that the BMD in lumbar spine L2 - L4, neck of femur, Ward's triangle and greater trochanter of patients before treatment were all significantly lower than those in healthy controls, and improved markedly after MMI treatment. The serum bone turnover parameters BAP, OC and CTx in patients before treatment were all significantly higher than those in control group, and were decreased markedly after treatment. The serum OPG level in patients with hyperthyroidism was significantly higher than that in healthy controls, and decreased markedly after treatment. The serum OPG levels were significantly correlated with bone turnover parameters ( BAP, OC, CTx) and BMD, which indicates that serum OPG level can reflect the abnormality of bone metabolism in patients with hyperthyroidism.

Objective To study the protective effect of total flavones of hawthorn leaf (TFHL) on renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in rats. Methods A model of renal I/R was made by clamping double renal pedical for 60 min and reperfusion for 24 h.TFHL (30 or 60 mg/kg) was injected before clamping renal ischemia. The level of serum urea nitrogen(BUN), serum creatinine(Scr), tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?),interleukin-1(IL-1) in serum were detected after reperfusion for 1 and 24 h,respectively, and the level of malonaldehyde (MDA) and erythrocuprein (SOD) in renal tissues were measured after reperfusion for 24 h.Results TFHL significantly decreased the level of BUN and Scr, decreased the concentration of TNF-? and IL-1 in serum. Pretreatment with TFHL also enhanced the activity of SOD reduced the concentration of MDA in renal after I/R.Conclusions TFHL has significantly protective effect on renal I/R and markedly improve the renal function. The mec-hanisms are associated with decreasing the lipid peroxidation reaction and reducing the level of TNF-? and IL-1.

OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for rational use of antibiotics in the clinic. METHODS:In retrospective study, the distribution, composition and drug resistance of pathogens in our hospital during Jan.-Dec. in 2015 were analyzed statistically. RESULTS:In 2015,a total of 9401 specimens were collected in microbiology laboratory of our hospital;pathogens were detect-ed in 1743 specimens with positive rate of 18.54%;1591 strains of pathogens were isolated, mainly from sputum (59.77%), urine (14.775) and blood sample (8.93%). Totally 347 strains of Gram-positive bacteria(21.81%),991 strains of Gram-negative bacteria (62.29%),253 strains of fungus (15.90%)were detected. Top 4 pathogens in the list of amount were Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. S. aureus,Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylo-coccus haemolyticus were sensitive to vancomycin, linezolid and sodium fusidate, with resistance rate of 0;resistance rates of them to erythromycin were more than 65%. The resistance rate of S. aureus to penicillin was more than 95%,and S. haemolyticus showed high resistance rate to common antibiotics. Drug resistances of E. coli,K. pneumoniae and P. aeruginosa to carbapenems were all lower than 15%,and they were sensitive to polymyxin with resistance rate of 0. Resistance rate of E. coli to quinolones was more than 50%. CONCLUSIONS:The main pathogens are Gram-negative bacteria in our hospital, drug resistance of them are not satisfactory. Drugs most sensitive to main pathogens include vancomycin, linezolid, carbapenems, etc. The inspection of patho-gen drug resistance characteristics should be strengthened, and antibiotics should be selected rationally and normatively according to the results of drug sensitivity test.

Objective: To establish the methods for extraction and isolation of punicalagin from pomegranate peel, and further study the purification and quantification of punicalagin. Methods: Using an ultrasonic-assisted extraction method, punicalagin in pomegranate peel was extracted at room temperature by 50% ethanol with 20-fold volume of raw material. The content of punicalagin in the crude extract was determined by HPLC. To optimize the purification process of punicalagin, static adsorption and desorption experi-ments were employed to study five kinds of macroporous adsorbent resins (D101, A8-8, NKA-9, HPD-100 and HPD-500) for the one with the highest purification efficacy of punicalagin. In addition, the technical parameters of the macroporous adsorbent resin were opti-mized to obtain punicalagin with higher purity. Punicalagin was further separated and purified by using a reverse phase MCI GEL CHP20P column. Results:HPD500 resin showed the best ability to absorb and separate punicalagin in among five kinds of macro-porous adsorbent resins. The best technical parameters were as follows:the mass concentration of sample solution was 15 mg·ml-1 , the loading amount was 2BV, the pH was 2 and the eluting solvent was 8BV of 30% ethanol. With the best process as described a-bove, the content of punicalagin extracted from pomegranate peel increased from 10. 3% to 30. 7%. The obtained punicalagin could be further purified to 61. 3% from 30% in ethanol eluate by the reverse phase MCI GEL CHP20P column. Conclusion:HPD500 resin is the most effective in the purification of punicalagin from pomegranate peel, and the content of punicalagin can be dramatically increased after the purification by a reverse phase MCI GEL CHP20P column. The optimized process shows good reproducibility and stability.
