Chinese Journal of Traumatology 2014;17(4):198-203
OBJECTIVETo evaluate whether the self-blood has influence on the molding process of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) bone cement, and to make sure whether it is valuable for the clinical practice.
METHODSAn in vitro study was performed to evaluate the prolonging-effect of self-blood on PMMA bone cement. The effect of prolonging was evaluated by the dough time (TD) and operable time (TO). Moreover, hardness test, squeezing value test and peak temperature test were also conducted to complete the evaluation of this program.
RESULTSThe self-blood, especially the plasma, could greatly prolong the handling time of PMMA bone cement without affecting its basic characteristics including hardness, leakage level and peak temperature. On the other hand, we found that in some abnormal conditions, for example with hyperlipemia, self-blood though can also prolong the handling time, would cause some side-effects.
CONCLUSIONWe report a new effective way to prolong the handling time of PMMA bone cement by adding moderate amount of self-blood. But "individualized medicine" should be noticed because some abnormal conditions like hyperlipemia would cause undesired side-effects.

Objective To investigate the relationship between nasal colonization of Staphylococcus aureus(SA) and nosocomial infection in intensive care unit(ICU), and observe the therapeutic effect of Anerdian III in nasal decolonizaion. Methods Bacterial cultures were made by means of nasal swabs among inpatients whom the occurrence of nosocomial infection were observed.Patients with SA colonization were randomly divided into two groups:control and treatment.Control group were given regular treatment, and treatment group were administered Anerdian III in addition to regular treatment. Then the clearance rate of SA and the occurrence of nosocomial infection of two groups were observed. Results A total of 751 patients were enrolled, of whom 108(14.4%) were with nosocomial infection and 85(11.3%) with SA nasal colonization. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus ( MRSA ) was detected in 33 patients (4.4%).The nosocomial infection rate of patients with MRSA colonization was 51.5%, which was significantly higher than those in patients with other bacterial colonization(P<0.05).The SA clearance rate in treatment group was significantly higher than that in control group(81.4% vs.42.8%,P<0.05).The nosocomial infection rate in treatment group was significantly lower than that in control group ( 16 .3% vs. 40.5%,P <0.05).After decolonization treatment, the nosocomial infection rate of patients with MRSA colonization was significantly lower than that in control group(25.0% vs.76.5%,P <0.05). Conclusion The incidence rate of nosocomial infection in patients with MRSA nasal colonization is markedly increased in ICU, and the decolonization treatment by Anerdian III increases the clearance rate of nasal SA and decreases the incidence rate of nosocomial infection.

Chinese Journal of Stomatology 2005;40(1):74-77
OBJECTIVEThe purpose of the present study was to investigate effects of developmental lateral jaw deformity (DLJD) on masticatory movement.
METHODSThree coordinates of mandibular movement signals were recorded in 35 young healthy adults with normal occlusion and 28 patients with DLJD by means of a Sirognathography System during gum chewing movement. Paired and unpaired t-tests were used to compare significant difference of intra-group and inter-groups in displacement and speed. P < 0.05 was chosen as significance level.
RESULTS(1) The rhythm and directional sequence of chewing trajectory in both frontal and sagittal planes were normal in control group, while anomalies of rhythm and distribution (n = 9) and reversed sequencing (n = 7) were found in DLJD group. (2) The maximum magnitude of jaw retrusion and average speed were significant higher in DLJD group than those in control group (P < 0.01). The spatial displacement and average speed in horizontal plane and in chewing phase were also higher in DLJD group compared with control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSDLJD patients showed anomalies in chewing pattern as well as chewing speed and displacement in horizontal plane.

To investigate the effect of GST-KGDX (glutathione S-transferase-Lys-Gly-Asp-X) fusion protein, GP IIb/IIIa receptor antagonist, on platelet function in vitro. The KGDX (Lys-Gly-Asp-X) gene was assembled from 2 synthetic oligonucleotides, 36 bp in length, using BamH I and Xho I restriction enzyme sites at the end of the gene for cloning into the expression vector pGEX4T-1. Expression of fusion protein was directed by the tac promoter. The Escherichia coli DH5a contained the plasmid pGEX-4T-1-KGDX was expressed by 37 degrees C heat induction. The fusion protein of KGDX with glutathione S-transferase (GST-KGDX) was purified in one step from the bacterial lysate by glutathione-agarose beads for affinity chromatography. GST-KGDX was found to be soluble and abundant, the yield of 35 mg/L of cultures was obtained. The GST-KGDX was expressed in E. coli to a level of 48.02% of total cellular protein. GST-KGDX inhibited ADP-induced human platelet aggregation stronger than GST (P < 0.05 or < 0.01). In flow cytometry assay for fibrinogen binding, both GST and GST-KGDX inhibited platelet aggregation by binding with high affinity to GPIIb/IIIa. Mean fluorescence intensity of GST-KGDX fusion protein was significantly higher than that of GST. It is concluded that the GST-KGDX fusion protein can be produced by E. coli and used as an antiplatelet agent.

Objective To investigate the effect of green light laser in complex posterior urethral stricture after surgical treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).Methods Green light laser was applied in treating 20 cases of complex iatrogenic posterior urethral stricture.Of these cases,12 had false passages,5 had more than 2 strictures and 5 had concurrently urethratresia. The scar tissues were transure- thrally vaporized and resected. The in-dwelling urethral catheter time was 1-2 months after operation. Results All the patients were initially cured without serious complications. The mean operative time was 39 rain (range,30-65 min).During the follow-up of 2-10 months,1 case had mild incontinence:another case (Q_(max)<9ml/s 2 weeks after surgery) got satisfactory results(Q_(max)>15ml/s)after the scheduled urethral dilatation. The other 18 cases were treated successfully and voided fluently with postoperative Q_(max)>15ml/s in all. Conclusions It is suggested that transurethral green light laser procedure is not only safe and ef- fective, but also simple and minimally iuvasive for complex posterior urethral stricture following surgical treat- ment of BPH.

Shanghai Journal of Preventive Medicine 2014;(3):149-150,151
Objective] To study the effect of different placed time for vacutainer and specimen on the results of emergency electrolyte detection . [ Methods] With heparin lithium anticoagulation tube and common coagulation vacuum tube , electrolytes were detected at 30 minutes, one hour and two hours af-ter extracting blood . [ Results] At 30 minutes and one hour after extracting blood ,the levels of K +and Na+of the plasma group were significantly lower than those of the serum group (P<0.05).With the ex-tension of specimen placed time , the levels of K +and Na +of the plasma group were becoming higher than those previously ,and at two hours the difference had statistical significance ( P<0 .05 ) .There was not ob-vious difference found in the levels of K +, Na +and Cl -of the serum group at different placed times ( P>0.05).But the levels of CO2 of both the plasma group and the serum group were significantly lower than those previously with the extension of specimen placed time , and the difference had statistical significance (P<0.05). [Conclusion] It is indicated that the using of different vacutainers effects electrolyte de-tection.With the extension of specimen placed time , the levels of K +and Na +of the plasma group increase gradually , and the levels of CO 2 of the plasma group and the serum group both decrease gradually .
