AIM:To observe the clinical effect of femtosecond laser assisted penetrating keratoplasty.
METHODS: Twenty-four cases ( 24 eyes ) with corneal lesions were performed with femtosecond laser assisted penetrating keratoplasty. Preoperative and postoperative endothelial cell density and visual quality were compared.RESULTS: One week after operation, corneal grafts were clear in 21 eyes (87. 5%), mild cloudy in 3 eyes (12.5%);visual acuity ≥0. 5 in 18 eyes (75. 0%), 0. 2 ~0.4 in 6 eyes ( 25. 0%). After 3mo the mean corneal astigmatism was 2. 16±0. 21D ( range 2. 25 ~ 3. 09D). Compared to conventional penetrating keratoplasty which mean corneal astigmatism was average 3. 67±0. 38D after operation, there was significant difference between two groups ( P< 0. 05 ). There were significant differences between preoperative and postoperative visual acuity and astigmatism (both P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Femtosecond laser assisted penetrating corneal transplantation operation can improve patient's visual quality. And compared to traditional penetrating keratoplasty astigmatism decreased significantly, incision can be made in individual shape more precisely and neatly.

Objective To estimate the clinic features of severe multiple trauma with secondary thrombocytosis as a factor influencing the prognosis.Methods A retrospective single-center study was carried out in 680 patients with severe multiple trauma survived longer than 72 hours in Chongqing Emergency Medical Center from March 2010 through March 2013.The variables including age,gender,ISS (injury severity score),APACHE Ⅱ score,splenectomy and the usages of vasopressors,blood products transfusion,hematopoietic medicines and anticoagulant were analyzed.The prognosis indices including total in-hospital mortality after 72 hours,length of hospital stay and morbidity of thrombo-embolism were explored.The clinic characteristics and prognosis of severe multiple trauma with secondary thrombocytosis (platelet count more than 450 × 109 L-1) were evaluated.T test or rank sum test was used for comparison between measurement data and Chi-square test or Fisher' s exact test was used for comparison between enumeration data.Results Thrombocytosis was identified in 99 (14.56％) patients and it occurred one week after injury with median time of 27 days (ranged from 8 days to 304 days),and maintained for (18.62±4.38) d.The median of platelet count was 584 × 109 L-1 (lowest 478 × 109 L-1,highest 1 072 × 109 L-1) in severe multiple trauma patients with thrombocytosis.The proportions of splenectomy,prolonged use of vasopressors and employment of hematopoietic medicines or anticoagulant were significantly higher in patients with thrombocytosis than those in patients without thrombocytosis (14.14％ vs.7.06％,P=0.03;62.63％ vs.39.07％,P＜0.01; 28.28％ vs.6.71％,P＜0.01; 90.91％ vs.19.45％,P＜ 0.01).The highest D-Dimer level presenting in patients with thrombocytosis during the time of platelet increasing was significantly more common than that in patients of non-thrombocytosis group 7 days after trauma [(11.68 ± 11.90) vs.(5.05 ± 5.11),P =0.004].However,the mortality,length of hospital stay and morbidity of thrombo-embolism were not significantly increased in patients with thrombocytosis compared with patients without thrombocytosis [8.08％ vs.8.78％,P=0.82; 34 d (28.5,54.5) d vs.45 d (23,67) d,P =0.41; 10.10％ vs.10.50％,P =0.91].Conclusion There was a higher rate of secondary thrombocytosis in severe multiple trauma patients.The factors such as splenectomy,vasopressors,hematopoietic medicines and so on might induce the reactive thrombocytosis in trauma patients.Thrombocytosis might increase the incidence of thromboembolism in severe multiple trauma patients without appropriate prophylactic anticoagulation.For the sake of prophylaxis,employment of anti-platelet agent might be the appropriately therapeutic strategy for patients suffering from severe multiple trauma with secondary thrombocytosis accompanying risk factors of arterial thrombo-embolism.

Objective To improve diagnosis effectiveness for patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia(MEN).Methods 68 patients with MEN were reviewed in this paper.The diagnosis,clnical features and principle of treatment were discussed.Results (1)MEN-Ⅰ 22.05%,MEN-Ⅱ 36.86%,MEN-Ⅲ 8.82% MEN-Ⅰ\,Ⅱ 33.72%.(2)The cases in female were more than male and ten years earlier than male.(3)Endocrinophathies involred in order were thyroid,adrenal medulla,parathroid and islet.Conclusion It is important that more than one endocrinopathy be examined in doubtful cases.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of endemic fluorosis in Guide county of Qinghai province, in order to provide appropriate measures to monitor and control the disease. Methods Damo, Wenquan, Baoning villages(water source has been changed) and Taiping village(water source has not been changed) in Guide county were involved in the study in 2008. One tap water sample was collected in dry and rainy seasons, respectively. Water fluoride was tested in accordance with the "Standard Test Methods for Drinking Water" (GB/T 5750.5-2006); of all the children aged 8 to 12, dental fluorosis was diagnosed using Dean criteria; 6 copies of urine samples were collected in each age group, urinary fluoride was measured using fluoride ion-selective electrode (WS/T 89-1996). According to the "Clinical Diagnostic Criteria of Endemic Skeletal Fluorosis "(WS 192-2008), clinical skeletal fluorosis was determined in adults over the age of 16 by X-ray examination for 10 people in each selected village. Results The mean water fluoride was 0.58,0.38,2.28,0.37 mg/L in Damo, Wenquan, Taiping, and Baoning villages, respectively, and that of Taiping village exceeded the national standard(1.0 mg/L). One hundred and ninety-three children aged 8-12 were checked, the detection rate of dental fluorosis was 49.74% (96/193); urine samples of 116 children were tested, median urinary fluoride was 1.49 mg/L A total of 1503 adults over the age of 16 were examined, the clinical detection of skeletal fluorosis was 51.63%(776/1503); a total of 82 people were X-rayed, X-ray detection of skeletal fluorosis was 20.73%(17/82). The characteristic of X-rays were degeneration and ossification of interosseous membrane. Conclusions Prevalence of dental fluorosis of children and adult clinical skeletal fluorosis are higher. The endemic fluorosis is still comparatively serious. Prevention efforts need to be further strengthened.

The spores suspension of Streptomyces roseosporus D-38 irritated with 20mW He-Ne laser for 20 min were incubated on G1 medium plates containing 1. 9?g/mL of streptomycin. Ten percent of mutants increased the potency of daptomycin by streptomycin-resistance method, including the mutant LC-54, which could produce daptomycin 81. 2 mg/L, which was 39% higher than that of the beginning strain by flask fermentation.

Hydrogen is an ideal energy due to its high conversion efficiency, recyclability and nonpolluting nature. Compared with conventional methods, biological hydrogen production process is found to be less energy intensive and more environmental friendly, and nowadays more and more attentions are being paid on its fermentative way. A survey of fermentative bio-hydrogen production process was provided, followed by its new approaches in the future development.

Objective To observe the influence of nandrolone phenylpropionate(NP) on the ultrastructure of aorta in rats with or without movement training,and investigate the side effects of NP on the cardiovascular system. Methods Forty male SD rats were randomly divided into sedentary control group,sedentary+medicine group,exercise control group and exercise+medicine group.For the groups with medical treatment,NP of 10 mg/kg one time every three days was injected into the rats via gluteus for eight weeks.For the exercise groups,rats were trained to run on treadmill five days per week for eight weeks.The aortae were sampled and specimens were obtained for transmission electron microscopy. Results The ultrastructure of aorta was normal in sedentary control group.For sedentary+medicine group,mitochondrial swelling,vacuolated cytoplasm and lysis of endothelial cells were observed,disruption of intercellular conjunctions,widening of subendothelial spaces and furcation and breakage of internal elastic lamina were found,and smooth muscle cells changed into synthesis type.For exercise control group,no obvious morphologic change was observed,except that part of the internal elastic lamina disrupted.In exercise+medicine group,breakage and lysis of endothelial cells were observed,widening of subendothelial spaces and lysis of internal elastic lamina were found,and autophagosome and myelinoid body were seen in smooth muscle cells. Conclusion NP may lead to the impairment of endothelial cells and the change of smooth muscle cells into synthesis type.Exercise with NP administration may result in more severe impairment in vessel wall.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Bu-Shen-An-Tai recipe (BSATR) and its two components (Bushen recipe, and Huoxue recipe) on endometrial morphology during peri-implantation in superovulated mice. Mice were randomly divided into five groups, including the normal (N), model (M), Bushen (BS), Huoxue (HX) and Bu-Shen-An-Tai (BH) groups. The uteri were collected on day 4 of pregnancy, and the endometrium thickness, microvessel density (MVD) and number of pinopodes observed. Compared with the M group, the endometrial thickness in the BS, HX and BH groups was significantly increased and there was a significant difference in endometrial thickness between the BS and the BH groups. The mean MVD was significantly lower in the M group than in the N group, and there was a significant increase in MVD in the BS, HX and BH groups as compared with the M group. Compared with the M group, the pinopode scores in the endometrium were significantly increased in the HX and BH groups; and the BS group had significantly higher pinipode scores than the HX and BH groups. In conclusion, the results of the present study demonstrated that the recipes (Bushen, Huoxue and BSATR) could improve the endometrial environment by regulating the endometrial thickness, MVD and the number of pinopodes at the window of implantation. Moreover, the Huoxue recipe and the BSATR were more efficient than the Bushen recipe, with the BSATR tending to have the most beneficial effects.

The DNA structures could be altered or even damaged by exogeous or endogenous factors during cell proliferation. Failure of effective and timely repair will lead to cell cycle arrest or apoptosis. By taking the advantage of the quick proliferation of cancer cells, DNA damage induction, cell cycle arrest and apoptosis promotion have become important strategies for ant-cancer chemotherapy. Previous reports showed that an array of natural compounds inhibit cancer cell proliferation by inducing DNA damage, which have therapeutic potentials for anti-cancer drug research and development.
