Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2010;30(6):522-524
Studying on the acupoints in the hairline region of the scalp, it is discovered that a group of acupoints are orderly arranged in the hairline region of the scalp. Furthermore, the arrangement is highly consistent with the meridian route of zang-fu organs. Manipulating needles at acupoints in the hairline regions of the scalp may treat certain diseases, including insomnia, migraine, and Alzheimer disease. The characteristics of the acupuncture treatment at acupoints in the hairline of scalp resemble the characteristics of ear acupuncture and eye acupuncture. Thus forms a special micro-acupuncture system in the hairline regions of the scalp. This paper states the theoretical basis, the arrangement of acupoints, clinical application and operating norms.

OBJECTIVEThe clinical effect of the Shi's cervical reduction technique for cervical spondylosis and related disorders has confirmed, however, there were few studies on the body motion during manipulation in vivo study. This study is to summary the law of motion and the motion characteristics of the right operation shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle joints by data acquisition and analysis with the 3D motion capture system.
METHODSThe markers were pasted on the head, trunk, left and right acromion, elbow joint, wrist joint inner side and the outer side of the inner and the outer side and the lateral upper arm, forearm lateral, anterior superior iliac spine, posterior superior iliac spine, trochanter, femoral and tibial tubercle, inner and outer side of knee, ankle, fibular head, medial and lateral in first, 2,5 metatarsal head, heel and dual lateral thigh the calf, lateral tibia of one manipulation practioner, and the subject accepted a complete cycle of cervical "Jin Chu Cao and Gu Cuo Feng" manipulation which was repeated five times. The movement trajectory of the practioner's four markers of operation joints were captured, recorded, calculated and analyzed.
RESULTSThe movement trajectories of four joints were consistent, while the elbow joint had the biggest discrete degree. The 3D activities of the shoulder and elbow were more obvious than other two joints, but the degree of flexion and extension in the knee was significantly greater than the rotation and lateral bending.
CONCLUSIONThe flexibility of upper limb joint and stability of lower limb joint are the important guarantees for the Shi's cervical reduction technique, and the right knee facilitated the exerting force of upper limb by the flexion and extension activities. The 3D model built by the motion capture system would provide a new idea for manipulation teaching and further basic biomechanical research.

Objective To study the safety and efficacy of therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in elderly patients with biliary and pancreatic diseases under the concept of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS). Methods 320 patients were enrolled in ERCP operation. Both ERAS elderly group (experimental group A, n = 58, above 75 years) and young and middle-aged group (control group B, n=202,below 60 years)underwent enhanced recovery after surgery, meanwhile traditional elderly group(control group C, n = 60, above 75 years) received traditional perioperative management. It had compared multiple clinical indexes between group A with B and group A with C during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative period. Results The incidence rate of cholangiocarcinoma, multiple complications, nutrition screening ≥ 3 points, ASA scored III degree and Child-Pugh scored A-level in preoperative ERAS elderly patients were higher than that of the young and middle-aged group (P < 0.05); And its incidence rate of nausea and vomiting and abdominal pain, nutritional screening < 3 points and ASA scored I degree were lower than that of the middle-aged group (P < 0.05);the fasting and water- deprivation time of the ERAS elderly group was shorter than that of the traditional elderly group (P < 0.05). The intraoperative operation time of the elderly ERAS group was slightly longer than that of the traditional elderly group (P < 0.05). The duration of electrocardiographic monitoring and the first aerofluxus time of the elderly patients with ERAS were longer than that of the young and middle-aged group (P < 0.05). The success, failure rate, and complication rate of the elderly patients with ERAS were 91.38% (53/58) and 8.62% (5 /58), 3.45% (2/58), meanwhile the young and middle-aged group were 96.53% (195/202), 3.47% (7/202), and 4.95% (10/202), and with no statistical difference (P > 0.05). The mild pain in ERAS elderly group was more than that of in traditional elderly group, while the moderate, and severe pain was less than that of traditional elderly group (P < 0.05); The opioid use rate, endoscopic nasobiliary indwelling, first-time ambulation and aerofluxus, total hospitalization, and postoperative hospitalization time of ERAS elderly group was less than the traditional elderly group (P < 0.05). Conclusions With ERAS, the treatment effect of ERCP in elderly patients is similar to that in young and middle-aged people, and it has good safety and effectiveness.

OBJECTIVETo observe the dynamic changes of bone density and bone strength after alveolar ridge augmentation with Titanium Nickel shake memory alloy (TiNi-SMA) distractor and acellular dermal matrix (ADM).
METHODSTwelve adult healthy male dogs were selected. After the animal model of alveolar atrophy was set up, on one side of mandible, two S-shaped distractors were placed. The diameter of S-shaped distractor was 1 mm and the rebound temperature was 33 degrees C. The ADM was placed on the distraction gap and fixed by the feet of distractors. The other side was placed only with distractors, serving as control side. Six dogs' mandibles were harvested after 1 and 3 months respectively. Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) was used to scan bone density around the distraction gap. Mechanical machine was used to test compression strength and elastic modulus.
RESULTSMonths after distraction, the bone density of upper distraction gap, distraction gap and low distraction gap were respectively (0.714 +/- 0.238) g/cm2, (0.512 +/- 0.435) g/cm2 and (0.615 +/- 0.043) g/cm2 on experimental side. The compression strength and elastic modulus were (36.54 +/- 7.32) MPa and (1674.10 +/- 256.43) MPa. All of above were higher than those of control side.
CONCLUSIONSADM can improve the bone quality, increase bone density and intensity and is an ideal guided bone regeneration(GBR) membrane for alveolar ridge augmentation with TiNi-SMA distractor.

OBJECTIVETo identify the relationship of body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure in 7 - 15 years children and adolescents of Beijing so as to provide scientific basis for early prevention of hypertension and to provide evidence for verification on the category criterion of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents of China, recommended by the Working Group on Obesity in China (WGOC) to sensitively distinguish the blood pressure in normal weight, overweight and obesity populations.
METHODSA cross-sectional survey on epidemiological characteristics of obesity with stratified cluster sampling method carried out in Beijing in April and May, 2000. 5155 students aged 6 - 15 years were selecte das research subjects. The category criterion of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents of China was recommended by WGOC, the diagnostic criterion of hypertension in children was recommended by CDC in the USA. Statistics analysis system (SAS 8.1) including partial person correlation analysis, t-test, chi(2) test and logistic multi-factors regression analysis was used to analyses the data from 4982 subjects aged 7 - 15 years.
RESULTS(1) after the age and gender were adjusted, the BMI positive correlation with systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) was found independent in 7 - 15 years children and adolescents (P < 0.0001) and the partial relation coefficients(r) between BMI and SBP and DBP were 0.323 87 and 0.245 88 respectively. (2) the means of SBP and DBP in obesity group were significantly higher then overweight, while overweight was significantly higher then normal weight group (P < 0.0001). (3) the prevalence rates of hyper-SBP, hyper-DBP and hypertension were significantly different (P < 0.0001). When compared with the normal weight group, the relation risk (RR) for hypertension in overweight group and obesity group were 2.96 and 4.85 respectively. The prevalence rates of hypertension in overweight and obesity group were 19.70% and 24.22% respectively. (4) the results of logistic multi-factors regression analysis showed that both age and weight were effecting on hyper-SBP, hyper-DBP and hypertension (P < 0.0001). After age was adjusted, the RR for hypertension was 2.62, and their confidence interval (CI) was 2.36 - 2.91 in obesity or overweight, between overweight and normal weight.
CONCLUSION(1) the BMI positive correlation with SBP and DBP was found independent in 7 - 15 years children and adolescents of Beijing, and the risk for hypertension maybe increased when these people with overweight and obesity, it is very important for hypertension prevention and control that overweight and obesity prevention and control in children and adolescents. (2) the sensitivity of the category criterion of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents of China, recommended by WGOC have been verified on distinguish the blood pressure in normal weight, overweight and obesity populations.

OBJECTIVETo find out the prevalence of sleep disturbances for children aged 2 to 12 years old in Chengdu.
METHODSTotally 1 600 children aged 2-12 years old were selected from 5 districts in Chengdu and investigated by using questionnaire.
RESULTSAll 1 526 survey papers were returned. The average time of every day sleep in each age group (infant group, pre-school age group and school age group) were 12.12 hours, 10.42 hours and 9.47 hours. The sleep time of the children in those three groups were much less than the standard one. The proportion of the prevalence of sleep disturbance was 37.88%. Among them, there were snoring in 5.57%, choke/gargling in 1.25%, sleep inquietude in 7.86%, mouth breathing in 4.59%, sweating in 21.36%, member spasm in 2.82%, molar teeth in 8.26%, night talking in 4.02%, somnambulate in 0.2%, bedwetting in 1.95%, and difficulty falling asleep in 10.75%. There were significant differences shown in different sexes and ages, and in incidence of symptoms of some sleep disturbances. The affecting factors were the co-sleeping, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pollen allergy and their parent's snore.
CONCLUSIONThe prevalence of sleep disturbances being higher and more severe than before might be due to the less sleeping time in Chengdu in children aged 2 to 12 years old. More attention should be paid by parents, the Ministry of Education and the children's doctors.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the possible mechanism of L-arginine supplementation on the angiogenesis of burn wounds in diabetic rats.
METHODSOne hundred male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were used in the study and were randomly divided into A (scalding control, n = 25), B (scalding of the rats with diabetes, n = 25), C (L-glycine control, n = 25) and D (L-arginine supplementation, n = 25) groups. Diabetes was produced by intra-peritoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) in B, C and D groups. The rats in C and D groups were gavaged with L-glycine and L-arginine in dose of 200 mg.kg(-1).d(-1), respectively. The glucose content of the back skin tissue was determined for five rats in each group eight weeks after STZ administration. Deep partial thickness scalding of 20% TBSA was engendered on the back in the other 80 rats. The wound area, wound healing rate, and microvascular density with CD34 immunohistochemistry staining were determined on 3rd, 7th, 14th, and 21st post scalding days (PSDs), In addition, the amount of nitric oxide (NO) released from the wound tissue and the tissue contents of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and transforming growth factor beta1 (TGF-beta1) from wound were determined at the above time points.
RESULTSCompared to those in group B, the wound healing rate in group D increased significantly since the 7th PSD [(44.10 +/- 3.50)%, P < 0.05], and the wound MVD value was increased significantly at all postburn time points. Furthermore, the levels of VEGF, NO and TGF-beta1 in the wound tissue was also increased significantly, while the glucose content in the cutaneous tissue was decreased to (1.380 +/- 0.120) mg/g.
CONCLUSIONL-arginine supplementation could be beneficial to the angiogenesis in the burn wound of the rats with diabetes, as well as to wound healing by increasing the synthesis and the release of VEGF, NO and TGF-beta1 from burn wound and by decreasing the glucose content in the cutaneous tissue of diabetic rats.
