BACKGROUND:Individuals with different vertical facial types have different chin morphologies. For the individuals with different vertical facial types, what is the most beautiful chin morphology?
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of vertical facial types and chin morphology on facial profile attractiveness.
METHODS:Three beautiful females were selected, including one with high mandibular angle, one with average angle and one with low angle. Their facial profile photographs were taken. A series of new pictures were generated by the smal scale (2 mm per unit) modification of soft tissue chin in the sagittal direction and vertical direction. Raters consisting of 17 orthodontists and 35 laypersons were selected for aesthetic ratings, in order to evaluate the facial profile attractiveness of the individuals with different vertical facial types.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:There was no esthetic difference of vertical change in female with high angle;while slightly protrude chin was perceived to be more beautiful than retruded chin. For the female with average angle, lower chin was more attractive than higher chin;slightly protruded chin was beautiful than excessive protruded chin and retruded chin. For the individual with low angle, higher chin was preferred by raters;slightly protruded chin was more beautiful than excessive protruded chin and retruded chin. The results indicate that the effects of vertical facial types and chin morphology to facial profile attractiveness are different. In clinical orthodontic, vertical facial types should be taking into consideration to change the chin morphology of the patents, in order to obtain better profile attractiveness.

The graphene prepared by chemical vapor deposition onto copper foils was transferred onto a poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) soft substrate by the aid of poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA).The soft G/AuNPs/GOD composite electrode based on PET substrate was fabricated using a protocol in which the uniform distribution of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) was firstly obtained by controlling the evaporation of gold sol on a graphene surface, then thioglycolic acid (TGA) was modified on the AuNPs through Au-S bond, and finally glucose oxidase (GOD) was immobilized on the surface of AuNPs through acylation reaction between TGA and the GOD.Glucose was detected in the linear range from 0.05 to 10.55 mmol/L with a linear correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9955.The detection was performed in phosphate buffer solution (pH 7) at 25℃ with a working potential of 0.6 V (vs.SCE electrode), and the detection limit was 1 μmol/L (3σ).The G/AuNPs/GOD flexible electrode based on PET substrate provided a new pathway to detect glucose in special environments using wearable equipment, which enlarged the applied field of glucose detection.

A male patient,39 years old, presented with symptoms of cataract, dwarf, progeria, polydactyly and genu valgum, after the extracapusular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation on both eyes, the visual acuity was improved and his fundus examination was normal. As the syndrome is different from any eye syndrome we have ever known,so it maybe a new one.

Objective To explore the common safety concerns and effective nursing intervention in patients with intelligence score defect during hospitalization. Methods A total of 63 patients with intelligence score defect in nerve one ward in our hospital was carried out targeted safety management as the observation group, the common medical ward, the nursing assessment was carried out by head of department, the head nurse, the competent doctor, primary nurse, rehabilitation nurse and the health education. For personalized nursing measures, patients went through neurological nursing, safety management and rehabilitation guidance, etc. A total of 62 patients with intelligence score defect in nerve two ward were treated as the control group, nursing care in the traditional way of nursing. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) were assessed at the time of admission and discharge, and the occurrence of nursing accidents during hospitalization was observed, and the patient′s satisfaction with service was investigated. Results The occurrence of nursing accidents during hospitalization in the observation group was lower than that in the control group:4.76%(3/63) vs.1.77%(11/62), and there was significant difference, χ2=5.29,P < 0.05. MMSE score and patient′s satisfaction at the time of discharge in the observation group were higher than those in the control group:(25.12±1.59) points vs. (21.63±1.87) points,96.82%(61/63) vs. 85.48%(53/62), and there were significant differences, t=11.250,P < 0.01 and χ2=3. 87,P < 0.05. Conclusions Scientific assessment of safety risk and targeted nursing intervention are important means to ensure the safety of patients with intelligent scoring defect. These measures could improve patients quality of life and the improvement of the relationship between nurses and patients.

Objective To investigate the clinical and pathological features of Fabry disease in Chinese patients. Methods This retrospective study included all in-patients Fabry disease patients at PUMC Hospital from 2004 to 2014.Results The 12 patients included 10 males and 2 females. The middle age at onset was 10.The most fre-quent symptoms in our group were pain(10/12), angiokeratoma(9/12), renal abnormalities (7/12), hearing loss ( 6/12 ) , hypohidrosis ( 5/12 ) , cardiac abnormalities ( 5/12 ) , cerebrovascular abnormalities ( 3/12 ) and ophthalmological abnormalities ( 3/12 ) .The severe clinical manifestations were more frequently found in males . Electron microscopy plays a very important role in pathological diagnosis of Fabry disease .7 patients were suspec-ted to have family history .5 patients were examined regularly in which 4 cases were stable , and 1 patient re-ceived hemodialysis after 3 years'follow-up.Conclusions Onset of Fabry disease is early, many organs could be involved and patients may have different clinical manifestations. There are great differences in clinical features be-tween male and female patients .

Objectives To summarize the characteristics, differential diagnosis and management of incomplete 17 alpha-hydroxylase/17,20-1yase deficiency(17 OHD)of Chinese patients. Methods Six cases of incomplete 17 OHD from Peking Union Medical College Hospital were studied retrospectively through analyzing their clinical data, and the molecular pathogenic mechanism was discussed after literature review. Results Four cases of 46,XX incomplete 17 OHD were reported. The clinical characteristics included female phenotype, various degrees of breast development and absent or sparse axillary/pubic hair, oligomenorrhea or secondary amenorrhea, recurrent luteinized ovarian cysts, hypogonadism with persistent hyperprogesteronemia or high serum 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone level, with or without hypokalemic hypertension. There were also 2 cases of 46,XY incomplete 17 OHD,in which ambiguous genitalia were present besides hypokalemic hypertension. Conclusions Incomplete 17 OHD is a very rare form of congenital enzymatic deficiencies of steroid synthesis, which should be included in the differential diagnosis when there are menstrual disorders, sexual infantilism, recurrent ovarian cysts or ambiguous genitalia.Under such circumstances, hyperprogesteronemia offers a valuable clue for further investigation.
