Objective:This work aims to explore the long-term efficacy and complications of late-course accelerated hyperfrac-tionation (LCAHF) for treating nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods:A total of 58 patients who consulted from December 2005 to May 2008 and histologically proven nasopharyngeal carcinoma at initial diagnosis were randomized into an LCAHF group (experimental group) and a conventional fractionation (CF) group (control group). The treatment dose for both groups was 2 Gy per fraction once dai-ly, 5 days a week. After the 40 Gy to 50 Gy dose, the dosage in the LCAHF group was increased to two daily doses at 1.5 Gy per frac-tion 6 h apart, 5 days a week. The total dose in this group was 73 Gy to 76 Gy, the total dose in the CF group was 70 Gy to 76 Gy, with the total course of the treatment shortened by 0.5 weeks to 1.5 weeks in the former group. Results:The 5-year control rates of the naso-pharyngeal cancers was 86% in the LCAHF group and 59% in the CF group (P=0.021), with statistically significant differences be-tween the two groups. The late complications slightly increased in the LCAHF group than in the CF group, but the differences were not statistically significant. Conclusion:LCAHF treatment improves the local control of nasopharyngeal carcinoma without increasing the incidence of long-term complications.

AIM: To explore the clinical effects of high frequency electrical capsulotomy in maturation period cataract surgery.
●METHODS: A total of 68 cases of maturation period cataract were selected and underwent the surgery of continuous circular capsulorhexis using the high frequency electrical capsulotomy.
●RESULTS: The success rate was 91% in 68 cases with the high frequency electrical capsulotomy.
● CONCLUSION: The high frequency electrical capsulotomy in maturation period cataract surgery has significant advantages and brilliant clinical values.

Survivin is a protein that inhibits apoptosis and regulates cell division. The cDNA sequence of survivin was amplified by RT-PCR and sub-cloned into the prokaryotic expression vector pET-21b(+),followed by transformation into E.coli strain BL21(DE3) and induction with IPTG.The recombinant survivin protein fusing with 6?His tag was expressed in E.coli in the form of inclusion body at the expression level over 60% of the total cell protein. Results of Western blotting showed that recombinant survivin reacted specifically with anti-human survivin antibody. After gel filtration, the recombinant protein reached the purity over 95%,which facilitate the study of diagnosing and inhibitor agents targeting survivin.

In order to make students have integrative qualities and reform the shortage of former teaching methods in the food microbiology experiment,a new experiment teaching system was established, introducina the integrative and innovative experiment to the students gradually. The reformation of experiment in food microbiology has trained the students well and improved their special skills. Most important of all,it can offer them a chance to realize their own ideas. The students can design an innovative and integrative experiment to carry out their originalities.Good effects have been made since this system is very helpful to improve their consciousness of innovation and integrative abilities in doing experiments.
