1. Acute brain stem infarction-induced anterior internuclear ophthalmoplegia: Clinical and imaging features of 4 cases

Objective To investigate the clinical and radiographic features of anterior internuclear ophthalmoplegia caused by acute brainstem infarction. Methods Four cases of anterior internuclear ophthalmoplegia were retrospectively reviewed by analyzing their clinical and radiographic data together with anatomical features. Results All 4 cases were caused by brainstem ischemic lesions, demonstrating dotted infraction on thin-sliced diffused-weighted imaging at the dorsal side of pontine and the ventromedial side of the fourth ventricle. Among 4 cases, 1 was cured and the other 3 cases achieved improved adduction and diplopia. Conclusion Anterior internuclear ophthalmoplegia is characterized by its dotted lesion in the brainstem at the dorsal side of pontine and the ventromedial side of the fourth ventricle. Thin-sliced MRI facilitates the detection of these lesions.
2.Effects of different acupuncture and moxibustion methods on ultrastructure of gastrocnemius in rats.

OBJECTIVETo explore the efficacy differences in early intervention of different acupuncture and moxibustion methods on gastrocnemius fatigue in rats induced by electrical stimulation.
METHODSFifty male SD rats were randomly divided into a control group, a model group, a hand acupuncture group, an electroacupuncture group and a moxibustion group, 10 rats in each group. Electrical stimulation of the sciatic nerve was given in the control group and gastrocnemius fatigue test was induced by electrical stimulation of the sciatic nerve in the model group after anesthesia without other treatment, but just take 6 times interval stimulation in the control group. The hand acupuncture group, the electroacupuncture group and the moxibustion group were treated with the corresponding acupoints stimulation method respectively for 20 min before gastrocnemius fatigue test, and Dazhui (GV 14) and Zusanli (ST 36) were selected. Immediately after gastrocnemius fatigue test, three or four gastrocnemius tissues at the same site on the right side were quickly taken for making specimen for transmission electron microscope (TEM). The changes of skeletal muscle ultrastructure of myofibrils, mitochondria, sarcoplasmic reticulum, glycogen particles were observed under TEM.
RESULTS(1) Muscle fibers disorder, partial mitochondrial vacuolization and glycogen particles smaller were shown in the model group. (2) No abnormalities were shown in the hand acupuncture group and the moxibustion group with mitochondrial morphology and number, which better than that in the model group, and glycogen particles increased. (3) Abnormal changes in morphology were shown in the electroacupuncture group with part of the muscle fibers derangement, Z line malalignment and a few mitochondria vacuolization.
CONCLUSIONHand acupuncture, electroacupuncture and moxibustion have the different effects on ultrastructure of gastrocoemius in rats. Acupuncture and moxibustion have shown good effects on the prevention and treatment of exercise-induced skeletal muscle cell and organelle damage and delaying exercise-induced fatigue.

3.Electroacupuncture therapy and corrosion of acupuncture needle.

During the process of electroacupuncture (EA) therapy, whether there being a corrosive effect in ac- upuncture needles was observed. Acupuncture needles were inserted into a rabbit's acupoint to perform a 12-hour electrical stimulation with three types of common EA waveform; additionally two needles were put in 0.9% sodium chloride solution with 12-hour direct current. Afterwards, environmental scanning electron microscope was applied to detect the surface physical characteristics of acupuncture needles. As a result, after a 12-hour continued electri- cal stimulation with three types of common EA waveform in the rabbit, there was no corrosive effect in acupunc- ture needles; but the direct current could cause severe corrosion in acupuncture needles. It is believed that there is no corrosion effect on acupuncture needles in current EA treatment, and some accidents reported in literature may be related to quality of EA device or improper manipulation during the treatment.

4.Demographic characteristics of voluntary blood donors in Zhejiang Province

Objective To analyze the general characteristics of voluntary blood donors, and to provide the basis for establishing effective recruitment mechanism. Methods The information of all whole blood donors (including mobile blood collection cars on the streets , blood donation houses and team blood donors) from 2006 to 2015 was obtained from the Zhejiang blood management information system. The sex, age, occupation, weight, and the amount of blood donation at a time of blood donors were descriptively analyzed. Results There were 5299700 frequencies of donating blood in Zhejiang Province from 2006 to 2015. The annual frequency was on the rise, with an average annual growth rate of 2.99%. There were 3098500 frequencies of male and 2201300 of female with the ratio of 1.4 :1. The frequency of female has declined since 2010. The majority of voluntary blood donors ranged from 18 to 45 years old, and the percentage was 91.44% . The ratios of staff, students and workers were 14.61%, 12.27%, 10.09%, respectively. The annual frequency of staff was on the rise, with an average annual growth rate of 7.71%. The frequency of workers was on the decline, and the frequency of students fluctuated over the years. The ratio of blood donation 400 mL at a time was 41.23%. For 400 mL blood donation at a time, the ratio of male donors (48.86%) was significantly higher than the female donors (30.50%, P<0.001) . In addition, the ratio of blood donation 400 mL at a time was proportional to age and body weight (P<0.001) . Conclusion In Zhejiang Province, the frequency of blood donation has increased year by year. Staff, students and workers with 18 to 45 years old are the main force of blood donation. The frequency of female blood donation has a tendency of dropping, and the ratio of blood donation 400 mL at a time is relatively low. It's necessary to strengthen the propaganda of blood donation.
5.Chnnges of the ultrastructures of temporomandibular joint after removal of emotional stress factors in rats

Objective To examine the changes of the ultragtructures of temporomandibular joint after removal of the emotional stress factors in rats.Methods Thirty-two 12-week-old male Wistar rats were divided into two groups randomly,experimental group and control group.Each group was divided into two subgroups according to execution time,9-week subgroup and 12-week subgroup with eight rats in each subgroup.Chronic unpredictable stress animal model were firstly established in experimental group in the first 6 weeks,then all the stimulation factors removed and breed normally.After 9 weeks,rats in 9-week subgroup were killed.After 12 weeks,rats in 12-week subgroup were killed.All condyles and articular discs were dissected and observed by scanning electron microscope. Results There wag some recovery in condyles and articular discs in experimental group under scanning electron microscope.The gelatum on the surface of condyles increased,collagen fibrils became regular and deep layer collagen fibrils less exposed.There were no such obvious changes on the surface of condyles and articular discs in control group.Conclusions The ultrastructure injures of temporomandibular joint in rats induced by emotional stress could be reversed if the stress factors were removed.
6.Relationship between AKAP95, cyclin E1, cyclin D1, and clinicopathological parameters in lung cancer tissue.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the correlation between expression of A-kinase anchoring protein 95 (AKAP95) and protein expression of cyclin E1 and cyclin D1 in lung cancer tissue.
METHODSFifty-one cases of lung cancer were included in the study. The protein expression of AKAP95, cyclin E1, and cyclin D1 were measured by immunohistochemistry.
RESULTSThe protein expression of cyclin E1 in lung cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in para-cancerous tissues (positive rate: 75.56%vs 20%, P < 0.01); its expression showed no relationship with histopathological type, lymph node metastasis, and cellular differentiation (P > 0.05). The protein expression of cyclin D1 in lung cancer tissues was higher than that in para-cancerous tissues (positive rate: 69.39% vs 14.29%); its expression showed a significant relationship with histopathological type (P < 0.05). The expression of AKAP95 was correlated with the protein expression of cyclin E1 and cyclin D1 in lung cancer tissues (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONCyclin E1 and cyclin D1 are highly expressed in lung cancer tissue, suggesting that they play an important role in the development and progression of lung cancer. The protein expression of cyclin E1 has no relationship with cellular differentiation, lymph node metastasis, and histopathological type of lung cancer, and the protein expression of cyclin D1 has a significant relationship with histopathological type. The expression of AKAP95 is correlated with the protein expression of cyclin E1 and cyclin D1 in lung cancer tissue.

7.Nursing of 17 patients with pregnancy-associated fulminant type 1 diabetes and intrauterine fetal demise

This paper retrospectively summarized and analyzed observation of the disease and nursing care of 17 patients with pregnancy-associated fulminant type 1 diabetes and intrauterine fetal demise.Through timely supplying blood capacity and improving renal perfusion,maintaining blood glucose homeostasis and acid-alkali,potassium balance,safety of the patients was guaranteed;by providing effective psychological nursing,puerperal dietary guidance and discharge guidance,patients' rehabilitation was improved.As a result,16 patients were in stable condition,and dead babies were delivered.Major bleeding event occurred in one patient after delivering the dead baby,and the patient developed shock as well as liver and kidney failure.The patient was transferred to ICU for further treatment and became stable and was discharged after two months.
8.Homologous amelogenin gene test of archaeological samples.

OBJECTIVE:
Based on the sequence differences of Amelogenin homologous gene in the X and Y chromosomes, a pair of specific primers was designed to identify the sex of archaeological samples.
METHODS:
Ancient DNA fragments were extracted from the bones and teeth of sacrificial slaves with an improved method that combines phenol-chloroform extraction, silicon dioxide adsorption with ultrafiltration concentration. The polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) was used to detect PCR products.
RESULTS:
Seven in sixteen samples from eight graves showed positive results and the targeted segments were visible: a male with two bands of 106bp (Amel-X) and 112 bp (Amel-Y), while a female with only one band of 106 bp (Amel-X). Ancient DNA analyzing results from tooth samples are more marked than that from bones.
CONCLUSION
The improved extraction method is more effective for ancient DNA extraction, which reduced the PCR inhibitors and lowered experimental costs. The sex determination technology based on Amelogenin homologous gene is an important and feasible method in the molecular archaeological research.

10.Foshouningshen decoction improves sleeping via the serotonergic system in a rat model of insomnia.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the sedative and hypnotic effects of Foshouningshen decoction (FSNSD) and study its effects on expressions of 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT) and 5-HT1A receptor (5-HTR) in the hippocampus in a rat model of insomnia.
METHODSMale KM mice were divided into control group, estazolam (0.4 mg/kg daily) group, and low-, moderate-, and high-dose FSNSD groups (daily dose of 12, 24, and 48 g/kg, respectively). After corresponding treatments for 1 week, the mice underwent sleep-inducing test with subthreshold and threshold doses of sodium pentobarbital. Forty-eight male SD rats were randomized into control group, insomnia model group, estazolam group (0.2 mg/kg daily), and low-, moderate-, and high-dose FSNSD groups (with daily dose of 6, 12, and 24 g/kg, respectively). Rat models of insomnia were established by intraperitoneal injection of 4-cholro-dl-phenylalanine (PCPA) at the daily dose of 350 mg/kg for 3 days, after which the rats received corresponding treatments via gavage for 1 week. The performance of the rats in open field test was recorded and the hippocampal expression of 5-HT was detected using ELISA; the expressions of 5-HTR protein and mRNA in the hippocampus were detected using immunohistochemistry and real-time PCR, respectively.
RESULTSIn the sleep-inducing test with a subthreshold dose of sodium pentobarbital, the mice treated with high-dose FSNSD showed a significantly higher rate of sleep onset than the control mice (P<0.05); in the test with a threshold dose of sodium pentobarbital, treatment with moderate- and high-dose FSNSD resulted in significantly prolonged sleeping time (P<0.01) and shortened sleep latency (P<0.05) in the mice. The rats in insomnia model group showed increased total distance in open field test (P<0.05) with significantly decreased content of 5-HT (P<0.01) and expressions of 5-HTR protein and mRNA in the hippocampus (P<0.01). Treatment of the rats with estazolam or high-dose FSNSD obviously decreased the total distance in open field test (P<0.05) and increased the content of 5-HT (P<0.05) and expressions of 5-HTR (P<0.01) in the hippocampus of rats with insomnia.
CONCLUSIONFSNSD can produce therapeutic effects on insomnia possibly by increasing 5-HT content and expressions of 5-HTR in the hippocampus.
