OBJECTIVETo study the molecular mechanism of extracts from Euodia rutaecarpa on hepatotoxicity in mice.

METHODTotally 30 KM mice were divided into 3 groups and orally administrated extracts from E. rutaecarpa for consecutively 15 days. The expressions of Erkl/2, CDK8, CK1e, Stat3 and Src were detected by Western blotting method.

RESULTThe extracts from E. rutaecarpa could up-regulated Erkl/2, CDK8 and CK1e expressions (P <0.01) and down-regulate Stat3 and Src (P <0.01).

CONCLUSIONThe molecular mechanism of E. rutaecarpa on hepatotoxicity may be correlated with Erkl/2, CDK8, CKle, Stat3 and Src signal molecules.

Objective To explore role of functional neck dissection for lower collar-shaped incision at hair margin behind ear in the treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods The clinical data of 11 patients with thyroid papillary carcinoma who underwent func-tional neck dissection for lower collar-shaped incision at hair margin behind ear were retrospectively analyzed. Results The incisions of all patients were unseen in daily life and patients were satisfied with the postoperative appearances. No case of shoulder syndrome,postoperative local recurrence and distant metastasis was observed. Conclusion Functional neck dissection for lower collar-shaped incision at hair margin behind ear is effective in the treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer. Meanwhile it can obviously improve patients’ postoperative appearance and life quality,therefore it is worth clinical application.

The present residents training for ultrasound departments depends mostly on poorlyscheduled rotation and clinical clerkship,with repeated and obsolete subjects in their training.The authors identified these setbacks and such characteristics as complication of ultrasound medicine,complex and variable ultrasonic scan technique,and the high threshold for beginners.In view of this,the authors adopted the tutorial system training mode for cultivating the residents in their medical care,teaching,research and foreign language competencies.A questionnaire survey of 44 residents so trained evaluated outcomes of the mode,with constructive suggestions raised on expansion of the training base,improvement of teachers’competency and reduction of trainees' workload.

The association between CXCL5 gene polymorphism and obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) was explored.The distribution of CXCL5 gene promoter region-156G/C polymorphism revealed no significant difference between normal control group and T2DM group (P＞0.05).The frequency of C allele gene in obesity group was higher than that in non-obesity group(P＜0.05).The results suggest that the CXCL5 promoter gene -156G/C polymorphsim has no relation with T2DM,but it is a risk factor for obesity.

Objective To investigate the effect of early enteral nutrition.Methods 248 patients with esophageal and gastric carcinoma were randomly divided into two groups,and received enteral nutrition(EN)and parenteral nutrition(PN)each continuously for 6 days after operation.The body weight,blood routine test,liver function,and postoperative day 8 were compared with those before operation.Results The body weight,red blood cell count,and the levels of hemoglobin,serum albumin and transaminase decreased less in EN group than those in PN group(P＜0.01).The complication rates of anastomotic fistula,pulmonary infection,and delayedincision healing and average volume of pleural effusion were 0,13.8%,0,780ml in EN groups,while 3.2%,28.2%,7.2%,1842ml in PN group.Conclusion Early postoperative enteral nutirtion after esophageal carcinoma surgery can improve nutritional status and reduce complications in comparision with parenteral nutrition.

Objective To summarize the experience in hepatic artery reconstruction in adult-to-adult living donor liver transplantation(ALDLT).Methods Fifty patients underwent ALDLT in our hospital from January 2002 to July 2006.All the hepatic a~ery reconstructions were done under surgical microscope.ResultsTwo patients(4%)presented with hepatic artery thrombosis.All the patients were followed up for 2 to 52 months (median,9 months),and no hepatic artery stenosis nor hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm occurred.The 1-year survival rate was 92%(46/50).Conclusions Systematic evaluation of hepatic artery reconstruction and use of microsurgical technique are key to the reduction of complications of hepatic artery reconstruction in ALDLT.
