OBJECTIVETo compare the clinical effects of circumcision and the foreskin-deglove plus shaft-fix (FDSF) procedure in the treatment of phimosis or redundant prepuce in obese adult males (body mass index [BMI] ≥ 28 kg/m²).
METHODSForty-four obese adult men with phimosis or redundant prepuce underwent circumcision (n = 24) or FDSF (n = 20) according to their own wishes. The patients in the circumcision and FDSF groups were aged (26.38 ± 4.24) and (26.90 ± 3.14) years, with BMIs of (27.77 ± 0.77) and (28.07 ± 2.28) kg/m² and penis lengths of (3.51 ± 0.46) and (3.50 ± 0.59) cm, respectively. The operations were performed under local anesthesia with lidocaine plus ropivacaine mesylate.
RESULTSThe operation time of circumcision was (28.04 ± 2.65) min and that of FDSF was (45.45 ± 3.49) min. At 6 months after surgery, normal penile erection was found in all the patients, the penis length was significantly longer in the FDSF than in the circumcision group ([5.01 ± 0.73] vs [3.70 ± 0.47] cm) , and the rate of satisfaction with penile appearance was markedly higher in the former than in the latter group (3.25 ± 0.71 vs 2.83 ± 0.56).
CONCLUSIONThe foreskin-deglove plus shaft-fix procedure under local anesthesia with lidocaine and ropivacaine mesylate may achieve desirable penile erection and appearance in the treatment of phimosis or redundant prepuce in obese adult patients.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2005;29(6):423-425
A skin cell segregating control system based on PC (personal computer) is presented in this paper. Its front controller is a single-chip microcomputer which enables the manipulation for 6 patients simultaneously, and thus provides a great convenience for clinical treatments for vitiligo. With the use of serial port communication technology, it's possible to monitor and control the front controller in a PC terminal. And the application of computer image acquisition technology realizes the synchronous acquisition of pathologic shin cell images pre/after the operation and a case history. Clinical tests prove its conformity with national standards and the pre-set technological requirements.

Chinese Journal of Health Management 2016;10(3):212-217
Objective To investigate the levels of blood pressure, blood lipid, blood glucose, body mass index (BMI) as well as the epidemiological characteristics of dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension and metabolic syndrome of Hangzhou citizens. Methods A total of 28 990 citizens in Hangzhou city who underwent health checkup were recruited in this study, including 10 179 males and 18 811 females. The average age of subjects was 65.05 years. Subjects were asked to complete questionnaires regarding personal characteristics. The physical examination emphasized measurement of height, waist and blood pressure. Blood samples were collected and subjected to serum glucose, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C and TG measurements. The values of the examinations was described as xˉ± s . The ratios were compared with chi-square test. The trend analysis was conducted by linear correlation test. Results The prevalence of hypertension and metabolic syndrome was 17.1% and 11.2% respectively. And the prevalence of overweight/obesity and hyperglycemia was 36.3%,8.1%,16.4%respectively. It was indicated that the men had higher prevalence of hyperglycemia, hypertension, metabolic syndrome and overweight compared with women. However, as to the dyslipidemia, men and women were totally different. Women were more prone to suffer from hypercholesterolemia and elevation of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Men were apt to suffer from hypertriglyceridemia and reduction of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Divided the subjects by age into three groups, it was suggested that the rates of dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension and overweight/obesity increased along with the increment of age in women. Although the rates of metabolic disorders were higher in the group of men, the trend of increase with age was not as significant as in women. It could be seen in men that dyslipidemia and overweight/obesity were reduced with the increase of age. Conclusion The metabolic disorders in Hangzhou citizens showed their own characteristics. It is suggested that multiple strategies targeting at different sexes and age-groups should be formulated to prevent and control the occurrence of metabolic diseases.

Progress in Modern Biomedicine 2006;6(12):102-105
The culture of Magnetospirillum magneticum WM-1 depends on several control factors that have great effect on the magnetic cells concentration. Investigation into the optimal culture conditions needs a large number of experiments. So it is desirable to minimize the number of experiments and maximize the information gained from them. The orthogonal design of experiments and mathematical statistical method are considered as effective methods to optimize the culture condition of magnetotactic bacteria WM-1 for high magnetic cells concentration. The effects of the four factors, such as pH value of medium, oxygen concentration of gas phase in the serum bottle, C:C (mtartaric acid: msuccinic acid) ratio and NaNO3 concentration, are simultaneously investigated by only sixteen experiments through the orthogonal design L16(44) method. The optimal culture condition is obtained. At the optimal culture condition (pH 7.0, a oxygen concentration 4.0%, C: C (mtartaric acid: msuccinic acid) ratio 1:2 and NaNO3 100 mg l-1), the magnetic cells concentration is promoted to 6.5×107 cells ml-1, approximately 8.3% higher than that under the initial conditions. The pH value of medium is very important factor for magnetic cells concentration. It can be proved that the orthogonal design of experiment is of 90% confidence. The results from the hysteresis of WM-1 shows that Hc = 230 Oe, Ms = 0.9 emu/g dry wt. Cells, and Mr / Ms = 0.50.
