Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2011;34(5):18-20
Objective To explore the role of endogenous and exogenous β-glucuronidase( β-G) in the development of primary common duct stones.Method Using modified Fishman method to test the activities of the endogenous and exogenous β -G in 35 patients with primary common duct stones(experimental group) and 11 patients with cystic polypus (control group) respectively. Results The activities of endogenous β -G in the bile of experimental group and control group were (7859.1 ± 738.5 ),(2174.9 ± 348.4 ) U/L(P <0.01).While the activities of exogenous β-G in experimental group and control group were (6786.1 ±544.3),(1504.7 ±655.7) U/L (P <0.01).In experimental group, there were significant statistical differences in the activities of the exogenous β -G in the sample obtained on the day of operation and 7 days after operation from 13 cases with the acute inflammation [(8935.7 ± 845.9),(2176.1 ± 956.7) U/L]and from 22 cases with the chronic inflammation [(5137.2 ±540.7),(1838.8 ±733.3) U/L],and there were significant higher in the activities of the exogenous β -G in the sample obtained on the day of operation from the acute inflammation compared to those from the chronic inflammation (P < 0.05 ).Conclusions There is obvious correlation between either endogenous or exogenous β -G with primary common duct stones. And the endogenous β -G might be one of the fundamental cause in the development of primary common duct stones.

Objective To evaluate the quality of Isatidis Radix from different ecotypes by using projection pursuit model. Methods Totally 11 batches of Isatidis Radix from different ecotypes in Gansu Province were used as evaluation samples. With the contents of epigoitrin, uridine, guanosine, adenosine, benzoic acid, salicylic acid, indigo, indirubin, and alcohol extract as evaluating indexes, combined with projection pursuit model established by DPS V 9.50 statistics software, the quality of Isatidis Radix was evaluated. Results Based on the evalution of nine main indexes, quality order of the 11 batches of Isatidis Radix was acquired: S2>S1>S9>S7>S8>S3>S5>S10>S11>S4>S6. Conclusion The projection pursuit model was available for the quality evaluation of different ecotype Isatidis Radix. The quality of Isatidis Radix from different ecotypes is different significantly, and the quality of tetraploid Isatidis Radix of Shijiazhuang is the best.

Objective To investigate the effects of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy (CT) and chemoradiotherapy (CRT) or radiotherapy(RT) for Ⅰ b-Ⅱ a cervical cancer with risk factors. Methods From March 1995 to June 2010,there were 137 patients underwent radical hysterectomy and systematic pelvic lymphadenectomy for stage Ⅰ b-Ⅱ a cervical cancer admitted at Peking University First Hospital. These patients had risk factors, intermediate risk factors including bulky tumor (>4 cm),lymph vascular space invasion, deep stromal invasion; high risk factors including positive surgical margin, parametrial invasion, lymph node involvement.Of the all patients,79 cases of them were treated with CT,58 of them were treated with RT or CRT.The 5-year survival and prognosis factors were analyzed retrospectively, the prognosis was compared between two adjuvant therapy groups. Results The univariate analysis shown that types of pathology, different grade of risk factors, stroma invasion and lymph node involvement were prognostic factors of 5-year overall survival Patients with squamous cell carcinoma, intermediate risk factors,no parametrial invasion, and no lymph node involvement had better prognosis (P < 0.05).Whether patients with high-risk factors or intermediate-risk factors, the 5-year overall survival and 3-year disease-free survival had no difference between CT and RCT or RT groups respectively.Cox regression multivariate analysis of survival indicated that clinical stages, types of histology, different grade of risk factors were independent prognostic indicator.Patients with early stage, squamous cell carcinoma, intermediate risk factors had better prognosis.Univariate and multivariate analysis indicated that different postoperative adjuvant therapies had no effects on the prognosis. The 5-year overall survival was 88.6% in patients treated with CT,and 89.7% in patients treated with RT or CRT (P =0.455).Conclusion There are equivalent therapeutic results between CT and RT or CRT for patients with risk factors after radical surgery,CT may be as one choice of postoperative adjuvant therapy for stage Ⅰ b-Ⅱ a cervical carcinoma with risk factors.
