Objective To investigate the oxalate-degrading and growth abilities of lactic acid bacteria coming from yoghourt in vitro culture broth. Methods The species of lactic acid bacteria obtained from 6 brands of yoghourt were identified. Different brands of yoghourt were separately cultured in broth and incubated at 37 ℃,5% CO2 for 48 h, getting the concentration of lactic acid bacteria through slab counting method. The brand of yoghourt with the highest quantity of bacteria was chosen as the study subject. Three species of bacteria and the mixture bacteria obtained from the chosen brand of yoghourt were cultured separately for 72 h in MRS broth which contained three different concentrations of ammonium oxalate, and the broth without inoculating of bacterium was prepared as control. The amount of bacteria in culture was detected, the concentration of ammonium oxalate was detected through photometric determination of oxalic acid by its catalytic reaction of methyl red by potassium chromate. Results Three species of lactic acid bacteria (L.bulgaria, L.acidophilus and L.thermophilus) were detected in each brand of yoghourt. The quantity of bacteria in Weiquan yoghourt is the highest. After 72 h incubation, the concentrations of oxalate in all the broths containing bacteria were lower than those in the control. L.acidophilus showed the best degrading activity. The higher the concentration of oxalate was, the bigger the amount of oxalate degraded was, the smaller the percent of degrading was, and the less the growth ability of bacteria was. Conclusion All the species coming from yoghourt have the ability of oxalate degrading, which increases with the concentration of oxalate in culture. But the high concentration of oxalate restrains the growth of bacteria.

Objective To compare the ear baric function between 4000m altitude chamber test with inhaling air and 6900m altitude chamber test with inhaling pure oxygen. Methods Eleven healthy male volunteers attended two tests as two groups by self-comparison. As the air group the volunteers inhaled air at 4000m, while as the pure oxygen group they inhaled pure oxygen at 6900m altitude, and the time interval between the two tests was more than two weeks. During the test, the volunteers breathed air or pure oxygen at random for 1h, and then were exposed at a speed of 20m/s to the target altitude for 5min. Hereafter they were sent back to the ground at the same speed. The changes of subjective symptoms, degree of tympanic congestion, acoustic immitance index and pure-tone auditory threshold were recorded before and after the test. The acoustic impedance index and pure-tone threshold were statistically analyzed.ResultsFour volunteers (4 ears) in air group and 7 volunteers (7 ears) in pure oxygen group reported ear pain in altitude chamber exposures, respectively. The pain-triggering altitude was higher in the pure oxygen group. Immediately after tests, there were 3 (3 ears) and 5 volunteers (5 ears) with Ⅲ degree congestion of the tympanic membrane in the two groups respectively. Four volunteers (6 ears) developed gradually aggravated hemorrhages after altitude exposure. And the tympanic membrane congestion difference between groups was statistically significant at 3 and 24h after tests (P<0.01). The type A tympanogram appeared in 11 (15 ears) and 11 (14 ears) volunteers respectively immediately after tests. The increase of static compliance value was significantly greater in pure oxygen group than in air group immediately after tests (P<0.05), the decrease of middle ear pressure was more significant in pure oxygen group than in air group at 3 and 24h after tests (P<0.05). Both the two altitude exposure tests resulted in eustachian tube dysfunction. At 3 and 24h after the tests, the increase of individual frequency pure-tone threshold was significantly higher in pure oxygen group than in air group (P<0.05).Conclusion Breathing pure oxygen and lifting height could increase the screening degree of ear baric function test in hypobaric chamber, and have greater influence on degree of tympanic congestion, acoustic immittance and pure-tone auditory threshold in 24 hours.

Objective:To explore the differences in intravascular ultrasound results in elderly coronary heart disease(CHD)patients with different uric acid levels. Methods:A total of 145 elderly patients diagnosed with CHD in our hospital from December 2017 to May 2020 were included as study subjects.Uric acid levels were measured and intravascular ultrasound examination was conducted in all patients. They were divided into different groups based on uric acid levels: Group A(uric acid≤199 μmol/L), Group B(uric acid 200~399 μmol/L)and Group C(uric acid≥400 μmol/L). Data from intravascular ultrasound-derived indexes were analyzed and compared between the three groups. Results:There was no significant difference in the degree of left main stenosis between Group A and Group B, but it was less severe in both groups than in Group C( F=5.625, P=0.039). Plaque fibrous cap thickness showed no significant difference between Group B and Group C, but it was smaller than in Group A( F=7.825, P=0.020). Group C had the largest plaque area and maximum thickness among the three groups, followed by Group B[(11.12±1.73)mm 2 and(1.76±0.24)mm]and Group A[(8.29±3.14)mm 2 and(1.38±0.09)mm]( F=6.384 and 6.827, P=0.028 and 0.015). Conclusions:Elevated uric acid levels in elderly CHD patients can increase the area and thickness of plaques, and reduce plaque fibrous cap thickness, leading to an increased risk of formation of unstable plaques, which can be life-threatening for these patients. Thus, monitoring and managing uric acid levels should be stressed in elderly CHD patients.

OBJECTIVETo compare the differences in biological behavior and clinical features between adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (AEG) and lower thoracic esophageal squamous cell cancer (LESC), and to explore reasonable procedures for each cancer.
METHODSClinical data of 111 patients with AEG and 126 patients with LESC who underwent surgery from January 2004 to April 2012 were retrospectively reviewed. Data pertaining to resection rate, lymph node metastasis, and postoperative complication rate were analyzed.
RESULTSThe resection rate was 94.6% for AEG and 97.6% for LESC, and the difference was not statistically significant (P<0.05). The rate of lymph node metastasis in the mediastinum in patients with AEG was significantly lower [6.3%(7/111) vs. 32.5%(41/126), P<0.01], while the rate of lymph node metastasis in the abdomen was significantly higher [57.7%(64/111) vs. 34.1%(43/126), P<0.01]. The rate of lymph node metastasis in mediastinum of AEG was 12.5%(4/32) for Siewert I and 4.7%(3/64) for Siewert II, and there was no lymph node metastasis in Siewert III (n=15). For AEG patients who underwent trans-abdominal surgery, the rate of positive lymph node in the middle and lower mediastinum was significantly lower than trans-thoracic surgery [0/22 vs. 7.9% (7/89), P<0.05]. LESC via right thorax with two-field or three-field lymph node dissection was associated with a significantly higher rate of positive lymph node metastasis in the upper mediastinum than that of single incision via left thorax [17.9%(12/67) vs. 0/59, P<0.01]. The postoperative complication rates were 23.4%(26/111) and 27.0%(34/126) respectively, and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONSAEG and LESC show different lymph node metastasis pattern and should be operated differently. Lymphadenectomy in mid-lower mediastinum should be emphasized in Siewert I and Siewert II type cancers.
