1.Therapeutic Observation of Successive Trigger Needling plus Motorial Needling for External Humeral Epicondylitis

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of successive trigger needling plus motorial needling in treating external humeral epicondylitis.Method Sixty-two eligible subjects with external humeral epicondylitis were randomized into a treatment group and a control group,31 cases each.The treatment group was intervened by successive trigger needling plus motorial needling,and the control group was treated with ordinary acupuncture.The two groups were both treated once a day.After 10 sessions of treatment,the changes of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) scores were observed,and the clinical efficacies were compared between the two groups.Result The VAS and ADL scores were changed significantly respectively after 1-week and 2-week treatment in both groups (P<0.05).After the treatment,the changes of VAS and ADL scores in the treatment group were significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.05).The total effective rate was 96.8% in the treatment group versus 93.5% in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Successive trigger needling plus motorial needling is an effective approach in treating external humeral epicondylitis,and it can improve the ADL.
2.Effect on late-stage mammary cancer treated by endocrinotherapy or chemotherapy combined with pingxiao capsule.

OBJECTIVETo explore the action of pingxiao capsules (PXC) and its significance in the treatment of late stage mammary cancer (LSMC).
METHODSOne hundred and forty-two LSMC patients were randomized into four groups: the two single treated groups treated by endocrinotherapy (ET) alone (n = 27) and by chemotherapy alone (n=44) respectively, and the two PXC combined treated groups treated with PXC plus endocrinotherapy (n=27) or chemotherapy (n=44). The remission rate and progression time (TTP) of disease, the survival time and quality of life (QOL) of patients, and the adverse reaction were compared between the single treated groups and the combined treated groups.
RESULTSThe median progression time was obviously prolonged, and QOL improved in the combined treated groups than those in the single treated groups (P < 0.05), but no significant difference was found in the remission rate or adverse reaction between them.
CONCLUSIONPXC can improve QOL, prolong the progression time in patients of LSMC, and with less adverse reaction. It is worth spreading combination of PXC with chemo- or endocrino-therapy in clinical application for treatment of LSMC patients.

3.MRI image analysis of 1,2-dichloroethane chronic toxic encephalopath.

OBJECTIVETo study the MRI features of 1,2-dichloroethane Chronic Toxic Encephalopathy of 10 cases.
METHOD10 cases were examined by MRI, slice thickness 8 mm, layer from 2 mm, axial and coronal line scan, T1WI, T2WI, FLAIR imaging.
RESULTS10 cases show varying degrees of abnormal signal of white matters, low signal intensity on T1WI, high signal intensity on T2WI and FLAIR. MRI could also show extensive abnormal signal in cerebral white matter although the toxic manifestation is mild to moderate. Therefore the symptoms and the shows of MRI could be inconsistent.
CONCLUSIONCombined with a history of exposure, the show of varying degrees of abnormal signal of white matter in 1,2-dichloroethane Chronic Toxic Encephalopathy cases are characteristic.

4.Effects of salidroside on expression of NeuN and Egr4 in ischemic side of MCAO rats by inhibiting expression of C3

Aim To investigate the effects of salidroside on NeuN and Egrs in the ischemic side of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rats by inhibiting complement C3.Methods The rats were subjected to MCAO with suture-occluded method,and the neurologic injury was evaluated.The rats underwent l h ischemia/reperfusion with 1 d and 2d salidroside treatment,and the expressions of NeuN,Egr4,C3 and C1 were tested.Male Sprague Dawley rats were separately injected ventricle C3aR inhibitor and artificial cerebrospinal fluid with the help of ventricle stereotaxic apparatus.Thirty min later,the models of MCAO were finished with 1h reperfusion,drug administration and intracerebroventricular injection for 2d.The expressions of NeuN,Egr4,C3 were detected.Results Compared with models of MCAO,the expression of C3 in MCAO rats treated with salidroside 1 d and 2d decreased significantly,and the expression of NeuN increased markedly.Salidroside had no apparent effect on Egr4 and C1 of administration of 1d,but it could significantly enhance the expression of Egr4 after 2d,and reduce the expression of C1 significantly after 2d.The rats administrated with C3aR inhibitor into cerebral ventricle continueously showed the same result in accordance with the treatment of salidroside.And the treatment of salidroside and C3aR inhibitor did not show remarkable additive effects.Conclusion The neuroprotective effect of salidroside on acute cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury may be related to the inhibition of the activation of the classical pathway of complement,the regulation of Egrs and the reduction of apoptosis.
5.Effect of acupuncture treatment of relieving depression and regulating mind on insomnia accompanied with depressive disorders.

OBJECTIVETo compare the therapeutic effects of insomnia accompanied with depressive disorders treated by acupuncture of relieving depression and regulating mind and oral administration of Trazodone.
METHODSSixty-five cases were randomly divided into a acupuncture group (33 cases) and western medication group (32 cases). In acupuncture group, Shenmen (HT 7), Baihui (CV 20), Hegu (LI 4) and Taichong (LR 3) were selected. In western medication group, Trazodone was applied with oral administration for 4 weeks. The curative effect comparison was carried on by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), and Side Effect Rating Scale (SERS) of Asberg.
RESULTSThe cured and markedly effective rate of 72.7% (24/33)in acupuncture group was superior to that of 46.8% (15/32) in western medication group; after treatment, the scores of all items and the total cumulative scores of PSQI and SDS of both groups were reduced (P < 0.01, P < 0.05), of which, the sleep quality and daytime function evaluation in acupuncture group reduced more obviously than those in western medication group (both P < 0.05); the SERS scores of Asberg in western medication group were higher than those in acupuncture group.
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture treatment of relieving depression and regulating mind is superior to Trazodone with oral administration for sleep quality and daytime function, with milder adverse reactions.

7.PPARs signaling pathway is involved in diabetic hepatopathy in mice

AIM:To investigate the role of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors(PPARs)-inflammation signaling pathways in diabetic hepatopathy.METHODS:Diabetic mouse model was established by feeding the mice with a high-energy diet for 4 weeks combined with intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin(STZ;40 mg· kg-1· d-1for 5 d). The hepatopathy model was confirmed by histopathological observation and the indexes of liver function, such as alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST)and alkaline phosphatase(ALP),after another 4 weeks.Mo-reover,fasting blood glucose(FBG), and serum levels of total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG)and insulin were measured,and the HOMA insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)was calculated.The mRNA and protein expression levels of PPARs and inflammation-related factors were measured by qPCR and Western blot, respectively.RESULTS: After treatment with STZ for 7 d,the FBG of mice exceeded 11.1 mmol/L,suggesting that the diabetic model was established. After 4 weeks,the structural deformation of the hepatocytes(including hepatocytes containing abundant fat vacuoles, and inflammatory cell infiltration),and the increases in the serum levels of insulin,HOMA-IR,TC,TG,ALT,AST and ALP were observed(P<0.01), indicating the occurrence and progression of hepatopathy in diabetic mice.Meanwhile, com-pared with the control group,the mRNA and protein expression of PPARα,PPARβand PPARγdecreased,but the expres-sion of nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB),cyclooxygenase 2(COX-2)and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)significantly increased in the diabetic hepatopathy mice(P <0.01).CONCLUSION: Down-regulation of PPARα, PPARβand PPARγand activation of NF-κB-COX-2/iNOS signaling pathways may be involved in the diabetic hepatopathy in mice in-duced by long-term high-energy diet feeding combined with intraperitoneal injection of STZ.
8.Efficacy observation on acupuncture prescription of regulating yin-yang and five viscera for intractable insomnia.

OBJECTIVETo explore a more optimal therapy for intractable insomnia.
METHODSSeven hundred cases of intractable insomnia that were in accordance with the criteria were randomly divided into an observation group (368 cases) and a control group (332 cases). The acupuncture prescription of regulating yin-yang and five viscera was applied in the observation group, where Dazhui (GV 14), Shenmai (BL 62), Guanyuan (CV 4), Zhaohai (KI 6), Geshu (BL 17), etc. were selected. The acupuncture prescription of tranquilizing mind was applied in the control group, where Baihui (GV 20), Sishencong (EX-HN 1), Anmian (Extra), Shenmen (HT 7), Sanyin jiao (SP 6) were selected. The treatment was given once a day, ten times of which made a session. After the treatment for 4 sessions, the clinical efficacy and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) were compared between two groups.
RESULTSThe total effective rate was 92.6% (338/365) in the observation group, which was superior to 73.1% (242/331) in the control group (P < 0.05). The PSQI score was obviously decreased in two groups after the treatment (both P < 0.05), in which the decreasing in the observation group was superior to that in the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe acupuncture prescription of regulating yin-yang and five viscera has better effect for intractable insomnia, which could be considered as a more optimal therapy.

9.Expression and clinical value of programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-L1)in diffuse large B cell lymphoma:a retrospective study

Background: The programmed cell death-1 (PD-1)/programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) pathway inhibits the activation of T cells and plays a crucial role in the negative regulation of cellular and humoral immune responses. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common lymphoid malignancy in adults. In the present study, we aimed to detect the expression of PD-L1 in DLBCL and to analyze its relationship with prognosis. Methods: We reviewed medical records of 204 newly diagnosed DLBCL patients in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between October 2005 and August 2012. The expression of PD-L1 in tumor tissues from these 204 patients was detected using immunohistochemical (IHC) assay. The expression of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), CD5, CD30, and C-Myc in tumor specimens from 109 patients was detected using IHC, and Epstein–Barr virus (EBV)-encoded RNAs (EBERs) were detected using fluorescence in situ hybridization. The Spearman method was used for correlation analysis. The Kaplan–Meier method with log-rank test was used for univariate analysis. Cox proportional hazards model was used for multivariate analysis. Results: Of the 204 patients, 100 (49.0%) were PD-L1-positive in tumor cells and 44 (21.6%) were PD-L1-positive in tumor microenvironment. PD-L1 expression in tumor cells and tumor microenvironment were more common in the non-germinal center B-cell-like (GCB) subtype than in the GCB subtype (P = 0.02 and P = 0.04). Patients with PD-L1 expression in tumor microenvironment were more likely to be resistant to first-line chemotherapy when compared with the patients without PD-L1 expression in tumor microenvironment (P = 0.03). PD-L1 expression in tumor micro-environment was negatively correlated with C-Myc expression (r = ? 0.20, P = 0.04). No correlations were detected between PD-L1 expression and the expression of ALK, CD5, and CD30 as well as EBERs. The 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 50.0% and 67.3% in patients with and without PD-L1 expression in tumor cells (P = 0.02). PD-L1 expression in tumor cells was an independent risk predictor for OS (P < 0.01). Conclusions: PD-L1 expression is more common in the non-GCB subtype than in the GCB subtype. PD-L1 expres-sion in tumor microenvironment has a negative correlation with C-Myc. PD-L1 positivity predicts short survival in DLBCL patients. For patients with PD-L1 expression, more strategy such as anti-PD-L1 antibody treatment should be recommended.
10.Effect of salidroside on ischemic brain injury in rats

Aim To study the permeability of salidro-side(Sal)to the blood brain barrier(BBB)by high-performance liquid chromatography electrospray ioniza-tion tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-ESI-MS-MS),and to explore the target and mechanism of Sal in the treatment of ischemic stroke(IS)by network pharma-cology,molecular docking technique and animal exper-iment.Methods UPLC-ESI-MS/MS was used to study the BBB penetration of Sal.Multiple databases were used to predict the target of Sal and the disease target of IS,GO and KEGG enrichment analysis were performed and verified by molecular docking technique and animal experiments.Results After Sal adminis-tration to normal rats and MCAO rats,Sal prototype and the metabolite tyrosol were detected in plasma and brain tissue of rats.A total of 191 targets were identi-fied by network pharmacology,the enrichment analysis of GO mainly involved in the biological processes of proteolysis and positive regulation of cell migration,and the analysis of KEGG pathway suggested that PI3K-Akt,MAPK,FOXO and other signaling path-ways played a key role in the treatment of IS by Sal The results of molecular docking showed that Sal had good binding ability with the core target of docking,and the results of animal experiments showed that Sal could significantly improve the neurologic impairment of MCAO rats,the number of Nissl-positive cells in is-chemic side significantly increased,and the expression of VEGF,EGFR and IGF1 increased,while the ex-pression of IL-6 and MMP9 was inhibited.Conclu-sions Sal is able to penetrate the BBB and enter the central nervous system for its pharmacological effects.Network pharmacology predicts the core targets of Sal in the treatment of IS,including VEGFA,EGFR,IL-6,MMP9,IGF1,CASP3,ALB,SRC.The effects of Sal on some core targets can be verified by animal ex-periments,to provide a reference for further study of the mechanism of Sal in the treatment of IS.
