Objective To evaluate the association between interleukin-I(IL-1)loci polymorphisms and increased risk of gastric carcinoma in samples from northern Chinese population. Methods Blood sam- ples from 126 patients with gastric cancer and 125 controls with chronic gastritis were collected.Genomic DNA was extracted and polymorphisms at -31(C to T),-511(C to T)and at intron 2(86-bp VNTR)of IL-I RN were genotyped by PCR-CTPP,PCR-RFLP and PCR.For detection of Hp infection fast urenase test,~(14)C breath test and serum anti-Hp IgG antibody assay were used. Results Five kinds of polymorphism of IL-IRN were found as 1/1,1/3,1/4,1/2 and 2/2,and the frequencies in patients were 76.19%、4.76%、6.35%、11.90% and 0.79%,respectively.However,the frequencies in controls were 76.00%、4.00%、4.80%、13.60% and 1.60%.No significant differences were observed between cases and controls in each genotype. The polymorphism of IL-IB-31 allele was C/C,C/T and T/T.The frequencies in patients were 12.70% ,47.62% and 39.68%,and in controls 28.00%,48.80% and 23.20% respectively.IL-1B- 31 T/T carriers were at an increase risk of gastric cancer with an odds ratio of 3.772(95% CI,1.786- 7.966).IL-IB-511 alleles were C/C,C/T and T/T.The frequencies in patients were 19.20%,56.80% and 24.00% and in controls,23.38%,49.19% and 27.42% respectively. No significant differences were observed between cases and controls in each genotype. Conclusion In Chinese population, the polymor- phism of IL-1B-31 alleles may be associated with the susceptibility of gastric cancer. However,no evidence was found to support that the polymorphisms of IL-1RN and IL-I B-511 alleles had relationship with gastric cancer.
5.Comparison of several visual evoked potential tests in measuring normal adults' real visual acuity.
Journal of Forensic Medicine 2007;23(4):254-257
OBJECTIVE:
To study and compare several measures of pattern visual evoked potential in measuring normal adults' real visual acuity.
METHODS:
Forty normal eyes were selected to test the pattern reversal visual evoked potential, black-white scanning pattern visual evoked potential, red-black scanning pattern visual evoked potential, respectively. Their experiment visual acuity was compared with their real visual acuity.
RESULTS:
The black-white scanning pattern visual evoked potential and the red-black sweep pattern visual evoked potential were more accurate, more convenient, and much faster in measuring real visual acuity than the pattern reversal visual evoked potential.
CONCLUSION
Pattern reversal visual evoked potential, black-white scanning pattern visual evoked potential, and red-black scanning pattern visual evoked potential all can be used in forensic medical examination of eye injuries.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2013;29(6):401-404
OBJECTIVE:
To access application value of multi-slice spiral computed tomography (MSCT) and coronary artery calcium scoring (CACS) in investigation the coronary artery disease (CAD), and to explore the effective way of virtual autopsy to evaluate the sudden death due to CAD.
METHODS:
Nine cases of sudden cardiac death were collected to analyze MSCT before the autopsy. The quantitative analysis of the degree of coronary artery calcium was made by Agatston's method. The CACS of all the subjects were calculated based on the diagnostic criteria for CAD, in which calcium scoring was more than 400. The results of CACS were compared with that of the autopsy.
RESULTS:
Only 2 cases got the high calcium scoring which were more than 400 in the 9 cases died of CAD confirmed by the autopsy. The prediction rate of CACS for CAD was only 22.2%. Pulmonary edema of different severity was found in both autopsy and MSCT. There was a higher morbidity rate in the left anterior descending of coronary artery than the other branches.
CONCLUSION
Obvious calcification of coronary artery can be detected by MSCT and calculating CACS. To detect subtle calcification needs other technologies such as postmortem angiography.

OBJECTIVETo summarize the clinical characteristic and outcome of digital gigantism of the foot.
METHODSRetrospectively analyze the clinical documents of cases of digital gigantism of the foot. Twelve 12 cases with 13 feet in this study included 8 male and 4 female with an average 4.6-years-old. All the deformities were found at birth. Multiple toes involved were more than single toe, and tibial toe involved more than fibular. Forefoot was enlarged. All the phalanges involved and partial metatarsal bones were enlarged. Marked increase in subcutaneous fat was found in all cases in the operation which infiltrated interossei and articular capsules. The appearance of the nerves and its branches in the foot were normal and fat infiltrating was not discovered. The operation types included debulking, epiphyseal arrest, amputation, nerve stripping and anastomosis.
RESULTSSeven cases were followed up with mean periods 25.6 months. Functional evaluation according to a criterion formulated by author revealed a result of 2 excellent, 2 good and 3 fair.
CONCLUSIONSDigital gigantism of the foot is an uncommon congenital deformity of the foot characterized by overgrowth of both the soft-tissue and the osseous elements of the enlarged toe and forefoot. Surgical treatment is the unique method, and the goal is to reduce the size of the foot to allow fitting regular shoes and walking readily. There are several types of operations which to be chosen. The indication, the timing of operative intervention and the selection of operation type should be paid more attention.

OBJECTIVETo synthesize cyclin-dependent kinase (CDKs) inhibitors and assay their antitumor activities.
METHODSA series of pyrimidines containing different arylamino and 1-(methylsulfonyl)piperidin moieties were designed by combining the segments 1-(methylsulfonyl)piperidin and pyrimidine heterocycles according to the super-position principle of the reinforcement of biological activities.
RESULTSTheir structures were characterized by MS and 1H NMR spectra and all the synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity with MTT assay.
CONCLUSIONThe preliminary bioassay showed that compound 3 b displayed good antitumor activity (IC(50)=13.6 µmol/L). The preliminary structure activity relationship analysis of these analogues suggest that the steric factor may have important impact on the anti-tumor activity.

BACKGROUND:Synovial fluid mesenchymal stem cells can be amplified rapidly in vitro and collected by a minimally invasive method. Recent studies have suggested that synovial fluid mesenchymal stem cells have become an important kind of seed cells for bone tissue engineering. Osteogenic differentiation is required to be optimized prior to the application of synovial fluid mesenchymal stem cells in the bone regeneration. OBJECTIVE: To describe a protocol to generate osteoblast-lineage cells from human synovial fluid mesenchymal stem cells of the temporomandibular joint using a cocktail that includes glutamax, dexamethasone, β-glycerophosphate, vitamin C, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, and to investigate the effect of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 and dexamethasone on the osteogenic capacity of synovial fluid mesenchymal stem cells. METHODS:Synovial fluid mesenchymal stem cells from the human temporomandibular joint were expanded in vitro and cultured in different osteogenic induction media. The mineralization capacity of osteogenic differentiation was evaluated by alizarin red and Von kossa staining. And the osteogenic markers, including ALP, RUNX2 and OCN, were assessed by reverse transcription-PCR. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The mineralization formation increased greatly in the medium with 100 nmol/L dexamethasone and 10 nmol/L 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. The expression of ALP, RUNX2 and OCN was enhanced distinctly in the 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3-induced differentiated cells. These findings reveal that appropriate concentration of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 and dexamethasone can be ideal ingredients to induce the osteogenic differentiation of human synovial fluid mesenchymal stem cells of the temporomandibular joint. Thus, this effective condition can be used to induce the osteogenic differentiation of synovial fluid mesenchymal stem cells for the bone regeneration in the temporomandibular joint.
