Objective To investigate the expression of sex hormone receptor (SHR) in meningioma and its relationships to the origin of tumor central artery.Methods The expressions of sex hormone receptors, including progesterone receptor (PR), androgen receptor (AR) and estrogen receptor (ER) in 43 cases with meningioma were detected by immunohistochemically streptavidin-peroxidase (SP) method. These data combined with the characteristics of digital subtraction angiography (DSA) were analyzed.Results The expression of ER in meningioma was not related to the origin of tumor central artery. Objective To identify the possible mutations other than A1555G in mitochondrial 12S and 16S rRNA genes that responsible for aminoglycoside-induced deafness, and to provide the basis for genetic diagnosis for this disease. Methods A total of twenty-seven blood samples were obtained from five families with aminoglycoside-induced deafness for screening the A1555G mutation and other possible mutations by PCR- Alw26 I digestion and sequence analysis. Results All samples examined in four families (A, C, D and E) carried the same homoplasmic A1555G mutation, but no A1555G mutation was found in family B. Sequencing of the DNA samples from this family displayed a rare insertion of "AA" at nucleotide 2227 in 16S rRNA gene. Conclusions Our findings suggested that the 1555 G mutation was not the only genetic defect associated with aminoglycoside-induced deafness since we did not find the A1555G mutation in one family, in which the typical maternal inheritance pattern of the aminoglycoside-induced deafness was seen. It is not enough to identify prospectively patients who are likely to be hypersensitive to aminoglycoside ototoxicity by screening A1555G mutation only. Other possible mutations in mitochondrial DNA that associated with aminoglycoside -induced deafness should be tested also.

AIM: To explore the different inhibitory effect of arsenic trioxide (As_2O_3) on hepatocarcinoma cell growth in SMMC-7721 and BEL-7402 cell lines and its mechanism. METHODS: The cell culture and trypan blue staining were used to study the inhibitory effect of arsenic trioxide on cell growth, and the glutathione (GSH) contents in hepatocarcinoma cells treated with arsenic trioxide were detected. RESULTS: Arsenic trioxide inhibited the growth of BEL-7402 cells in a time and dose-dependent manner. The inhibitory effect was significant at a lower dose of 0.50 ?mol/L for 24 h, however, to SMMC-7721 cells, a higher dose of 2.00 ?mol/L for 96 h was needed. The inhibitory rate of arsenic trioxide (0.25-2.00 ?mol/L) on BEL-7402 cell growth was higher than that on SMMC-7721 cells. The content of GSH in SMMC-7721 cells was much higher than that in BEL-7402 cells [(50.8?5.2) (?mol/g) protein and (18.7?1.4) ?mol/g protein, respectively]. CONCLUSION: There was a significant difference in inhibition of hepatocarcinoma cell growth by arsenic trioxide between BEL-7402 and SMMC-7721 cell lines, the cause of which may be due to the difference in GSH content in BEL-7402 and SMMC-7721 cells. Methods Regulations were laid down within the hospital for proof-providing procedures, methods, contents, the contents and format of legal complaints and reply letters, and documents in preparation for the provision of proof. Results Through the handling of over 900 medical encroachment disputes, the above methods proved to be practical, applicable and up to the standard. They could save the time of the hospital, the patient and the lawyer on blind surveys, reduce proof-providing time, and improve efficiency in handling medical encroachment disputes. Conclusion Standardizing proof-providing procedures, methods, and contents and the format of legal complaints or reply letters is of great significance in improving efficiency in handling medical encroachment disputes and reducing the hospital's chances of losing lawsuits.

Although the treatment of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) has made considerable progress in recent years,its mortality and disability have not been effectively controlled.Ischemic brain injury after SAH is considered to be an important reason for the poor prognosis of patients; however,its mechanism is still not fully understood.Studies have shown that the cerebral microcirculation disturbance after SAH is closely associated with ischemic brain injury.This article reviews the advances in research on cerebral microcirculation disturbance and ischemic brain injury after SAH.

Objective To perform the serological identification of anti‐E and anti‐Mur found in the detection before blood trans‐fusion and to analyze its clinical significance in blood transfusion .Methods The reaction pattern of serum with the antibody screen‐ing spectrum was detected by using the micro‐column gel method for identifying the antibody type and specificity .Results The 3 kinds of antibody anti‐E IgG combined with anti‐Mur IgG + IgM existed in the serum of 2 patients .Conclusion Anti‐E and anti‐Mur all are easier to lead to the hemolytic blood transfusion reaction .Selecting the suitable donor on the basis of the accurate anti‐body identification can provide guarantee for blood transfusion safety .

Objective To investigate the immune disorder in elderly patients with severe ischemic stroke and to explore whether a new type of diabetes-specific enteral nutrition formula can regulate the immune function of these patients.Methods In the randomized controlled prospective study,90 patients aged 60-80 years with acute ischemic stroke and NIHSS score more than 10 and dysphagia were randomized to two groups:receiving a new type(Group A) of,versus traditional(Group B) diabetes-specific enteral nutrition.30 Patients aged 60-80 years with acute ischemic stroke and NIHSS score ≥10 without dysphagia were enrolled as control(Group C).The immune function was observed,and the nutritional status and immunological function were compared between two different enteral nutrition groups at 7 days of treatment.Results After 7 day follow-up,the serum lipid stats significantly ameliorated in group A.An obvious suppression of immune state was observed in severe acute ischemic patients at onset of 7 days.At day 7 of treatment,the percentage of CD3+ T cells in group A was(69.25±9.93)％ after treatment vs.(63.36±7.79)％ at baseline(P＜0.001),and CD3 +CD4+T cells was(45.79±9.47)％ after treatment vs.(36.12±9.15)％ at baseline(P＜0.001),as well as CD4+/CD8+ cells were(2.27±1.40)％ after treatment vs.(1.70±0.82)％ at baseline(P=0.001).At 7 days of treatment,the percentage of CD3+ T cells was higher in group A (69.25 ±9.93) ％ than in group B(63.07± 9.47) ％ (P＜0.001),and the percentage of CD3 + CD4 cells was higher in group A(45.79 ± 9.47) ％ than in group B(41.32 ± 8.89) ％ (P=0.024).Conclusions Enteral nutrition preparations can provide sufficient energy support in the acute ischemic stroke.Immunosuppressive state exists in patients with acute phase of severe ischemic stroke.The new type of diabetic enteral nutrition formula can significantly improve immunosuppressive state in patients with acute severe stroke.

Objective To evaluate the application of Erytra automatic blood analyzer (Erytra) on blood grouping and cross matc‐hing .Methods 9 860 cases of EDTA‐K2 anticoagulant specimens for blood grouping test and 5 099 cases of EDTA‐K2 anticoagu‐lant specimens for cross matching were both detected by Erytra and manual tube method .Results There was no significant differ‐ence in the accuracy of blood grouping detected by Erytra and manual tube method (P>0 .05) .Both of the positive rate and the false positive rate of cross matching detected by Erytra were higher than those detected by manual tube method .Conclusion Erytra automatic blood analyzer can be applied for the detection of blood grouping and cross matching ,and its performance can meet the needs of blood safety in clinic .
