Journal of Chinese Physician 2001;0(02):-
Objective To probe the clinical value of transesophageal echocardiography(TEE) in diagnoses of mediastinal teratoma.Method Differential diagnosis of benign or malignant tumor was carried out on the bases of echocharacteristics, size, capsule lesion, boundary, growing speed, invasion and compression of tumor etc with TEE in twenty cases of mediastinal teratoma. Results The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the TEE diagnosis for mediastinal teratoma were 70%,94%,90% respectively. Conclusion TEE has an important value for diagnosis of mediastinal teratoma.

Objective:To investigate the effect of Siwutang on promoting hematopoietic function of mouse splenocytes. Methods:Effect of Siwutang on concanavalin A (Con A)-primed mice splenocytes production of IL-3 and IL-2 was studied by 3H-TdR incorporation and dot blot hybridization. Results: Siwutang significantly enhanced Con A-primed mice splenocytes production of IL-3 and IL-2(P

Objective To identify the possible mutations other than A1555G in mitochondrial 12S and 16S rRNA genes that responsible for aminoglycoside-induced deafness, and to provide the basis for genetic diagnosis for this disease. Methods A total of twenty-seven blood samples were obtained from five families with aminoglycoside-induced deafness for screening the A1555G mutation and other possible mutations by PCR- Alw26 I digestion and sequence analysis. Results All samples examined in four families (A, C, D and E) carried the same homoplasmic A1555G mutation, but no A1555G mutation was found in family B. Sequencing of the DNA samples from this family displayed a rare insertion of "AA" at nucleotide 2227 in 16S rRNA gene. Conclusions Our findings suggested that the 1555 G mutation was not the only genetic defect associated with aminoglycoside-induced deafness since we did not find the A1555G mutation in one family, in which the typical maternal inheritance pattern of the aminoglycoside-induced deafness was seen. It is not enough to identify prospectively patients who are likely to be hypersensitive to aminoglycoside ototoxicity by screening A1555G mutation only. Other possible mutations in mitochondrial DNA that associated with aminoglycoside -induced deafness should be tested also.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2003;0(11):-
NAT2 is an important drug metabolizing enzymes in humans.Polymorphisms in NAT2 gene produce variants at amino acid including seven mutation sites. In vivo NAT2 takes part in 20 kinds of drugs metabolism and activation of carcinogen.Polymorphism of NAT2 has been related to some diseases. This paper reviews the polymorphisms and genotyping about NAT2 and their implications in drug and clinical research.

Objective To establish chromatographic fingerprint of water and ethanol soluble component of Radix Dipsaci by using HPLC for identifying and evaluating its quality. Methods HPLC method was set up with Agilent HC-C18 column. The mobile phase was comprised of acetonitrile(A) and 0.05mol/L KH2PO4-H3PO4 buffer solution pH=3.0(B) in gradient elution mode. UV detection wavelength was at 220 nm,with a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. Results Ten batches of Radix Dipsaci samples from different habitats and harvested in different times were analyzed. HPLC fingerprint of medicinal material of Radix Dipsaci was established preliminarily. Seventeen characteristic peaks were confirmed and the fingerprints of different samples were compared by similarity evaluation software. Conclusion This method shows high precision and good repeatability,so it can be used to assess the quality of Radix Dipsaci.

Objective:To compare the pharmacokinetics and relative bioavailability between matrine sustained release tablet, matrine conventional capsule and matrine injection. Methods: Dogs were given single oral dose and multiple doses of matrine sustained release tablet, capsule or injection in a randomized crossover way. Matrine concentrations in dog plasma were determined by RP-HPLC method. Results: The results showed that the t max and c max were 300 min and (5.088?0.490) ?g/ml for matrine sustained release tablet, (85?12) min and (6.360?0.215) ?g/ml for the conventional capsule, and 10 min and (6.500?0.404) ?g/ml for the injection. The relative bioavailability of the sustained release tablet was (153.7?9.4)% compared with that of the conventional capsule; the absolute bioavailability of the sustained release tablet was (73.5?14.2)% compared with that of the injecetion. The in vivo absorption rate of the sustained release tablet was significantly correlated with the in vitro release rate(r=0.981 2,P
