1.Changes of bone mineral in glucocorticoid-induced avascular necrosis of femoral head

Objective To investigate the significance of bone mineral changes in the pathogenic process of glucocorticoid-induced avascular necrosis of femoral head(GANFH).Methods Thirty-two New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into two groups(16 each).Animals in model group received an intramuscular injection of hydrocortisone acetate(8.0mg/kg) twice a week for 8 weeks totally,and animals in control group received an intramuscular injection with the same volume of normal saline,while 150kU penicillin were injected twice a week for preventing infection in both groups.The contents of serum calcium(Ca) and phosphorus(P) were determined,and the bone mineral densities of the femoral head and neck were measured at the 2nd,4th,6th,8th and 12th weeks after treatment.Meanwhile,the general condition such as weight,spirit and hair of rabbits was observed.Results Compared with the control group,the weight of rabbits in model group lost since the first week,and progressively aggravated;the bone mineral density of the femoral head and neck lowered since the 2nd and 4th week respectively(P

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of cell function changes of bone tissue in glucocorticoid-induced avascular necrosis of femoral head(GANFH),and the preventive and therapeutic effects of "Cugusugao" ointment,a mixture of traditional Chinese medicines,on GANFH.Methods Sixty-four New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into four groups(16 each): control group,model group,therapy group and prevention group.The contents of bone-specific alkaline phosphatase(BSAP) and bone gla protein(BGP),and the activity of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase(TRAP) in serum were determined at the 0,2nd,4th,6th,8th and 12th week after treatment.Meanwhile,rabbits were sacrificed at the 4th,6th,8th and 12th week,and bilateral femoral heads were obtained for histopathological examination.Results Compared with control group,the contents of serum BSAP were elevated at the 4th and 6th week,while TRAP elevated from the 2nd week and BGP lowered from the 4th week in model group(P

Objective To explore the clinical value and significance of the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) assessment test (CAT) in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD).Methods A prospective observational study was conducted,AECOPD patients were admitted to the Department of Respiration Medicine in Jiaxing Second Hospital from February 2011 to July 2016 were enrolled,and they all underwent CAT assessment test and lung function examination.The patients were assigned to Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ grade groups according to the lung function level,and the difference of forced expiratory end volume in 1 second (FEV1) and FEV1/forced vital capacity (FVC) ratio were compared among the three groups;the patients were also assigned into 2,3 and 4 grade groups according to CAT scores,and the difference of length of stay in the hospital and hospitalization expenses were compared among the three groups.Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlations between the CAT score and lung function indexes.Results One hundred and thirty-five patients with AECOPD were accepted and all of their clinical data were analyzed in the study.Their mean FEV1 was (0.42±0.16) L,FEV1/FVC was 0.44 ±0.13 and CAT score was 26.64 ± 5.43.The correlation analyses showed:there were significant negative correlations between CAT score and FEV1,FEV1/FVC (r value was-0.691,-0.728,both P < 0.001).With the elevation of lung function grade,FEV1 and FEV1/FVC were decreased gradually (1Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ grade groups were 0.62±0.07,0.40±0.06,0.25±0.03 and 0.64±0.01,0.40±0.00,0.33±0.06 respectively),while CAT score raised gradually (20.03 ± 3.36,28.30 ± 3.31,30.18±3.86,all P < 0.01);with the CAT score getting higher and higher,hospitalization expenses (yuan) and the length of stay in hospital (day) of patients with AECOPD were increased significantly (2,3,4 grade groups:expense were 6214.09±1396.16,8339.31±1866.46,9600.97±4339.87,and length of stay in hospital were 7.54± 1.62,9.52±2.21,14.85 ±5.62,respectively,all P < 0.01).Conclusion CAT is a reliable tool to measure the life quality of AECOPD patients and has certain relevance to the severity and prognosis of the disease.
4.Epidemiological sampling survey on military training related injuries in PLA during the period of 2006-2007

Objective Randomly sampling survey was performed among the troops stationed in the monitoring sites during the period of 2006-2007 for understanding and analyzing the incidence,distribution and the epidemiological features of military training related injuries(MTRI).Methods Troops stationed in 9 monitoring sites were randomly selected for the survey,and soldiers participated in military training during the period of 2006-2007 served as the objects.The data concerning the military training injuries were collected and analyzed according to the "Diagnostic Criteria and Treatment Principle on Military Training Related Injury".Results 6262 out of 71836 soldiers who participated in assorted military training during the period of 2006-2007 suffered from military training related injuries.Among them 2455 out of 35582 soldiers who participated in military training in 2006 suffered the injuries,with an incidence of 6.9%;while 3807 out of 36254 soldiers who participated in military training in 2007 suffered the injuries,with an incidence of 10.5%.A significant difference existed in the incidence of military training related injuries between the years of 2006 and 2007(P
5. Combined variable stress plate internal fixation affects changes of bone histiocyte function and bone mineral density at the fractured end of goat femur

BACKGROUND: The common straight plate can affect the biomechanical conduction of fracture ends, and the combined variable stress plate can retain the continuous biomechanical stimulation of the fracture end, affect the changes of bone tissue cell function and bone mineral density, and promote fracture healing. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of internal fixation with two kinds of plates on bone tissue cell function and bone mineral density in experimental goat femoral fracture healing. METHODS: Thirty healthy adult goats were raised in normal environment, and used to successfully construct the models of right lower limb femur fracture. The models were randomly divided into the experimental group (given the combined variable stress plate fixation) and the control group (given the common straight steel plate fixation) (n=15 per group). Serum levels of bone specific alkaline phosphatase, osteocalcin and tartrate resistant acid phosphatase activity were determined at 4, 8, and 12 weeks after surgery in both groups. The goats were sacrificed in batches, and the femoral stump tissue was taken for bone mineral density and histopathological observation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) At 4 and 8 weeks, the serum bone specific alkaline phosphatase in the experimental group increased faster than that in the control group, but it was significantly lower than that in the control group at 12 weeks (P < 0.05). (2) At 4 weeks after surgery, the serum osteocalcin of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, but lower than that of the control group at 12 weeks (P < 0.05). (3) At 4 and 8 weeks after operation, the serum tartrate resistant acid phosphatase activity of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group, but lower than that of the control group at 12 weeks (P < 0.05). (4) At 8 and 12 weeks after operation, the bone mineral density of the fracture end in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05), while the bone mineral density of the experimental group and the control group increased gradually at 4, 8 and 12 weeks (P < 0.05). (5) At 4 and 8 weeks, the number of osteoblasts of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group. At 8 weeks, the number of osteoclasts of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group. At 12 weeks, the number of osteoblasts and osteoclasts of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). (6) Combined variable stress plate fixation can produce continuous compressive stress at the fracture end of goat femur, stimulate the change of the number of bone tissue cells, lead to the secretion of corresponding bone tissue cell functional protein, promote the formation of callus, accelerate the reconstruction of callus, and promote the fracture healing.
6.Chitosan liquid improves wound healing in rats

Objective To study the promotive effect of chitosan liquid on wound healing.Methods Wound model was established on the back of 60 rats,which were classified into 3 groups to be treated with topical chitosan liquid (group A),basic fibroblast growth factor (group B),and sodium chloride physiological solution (group C),respectively.The time required for the healing of wound was recorded.Regenerated tissues were resected from the rats on day 3,7 and 14 after the establishment of wound model,and observed with light microscopy.Results The time required for the healing of wound was 17.3 ± 1.35 days in group A,18.2 ± 1.15 days in group B,and 24.0 ± 1.37 days in group C.For the time required for the healing of wound,no significant difference was observed between the group A and B (P > 0.05),but group C significantly differed from group A and B (both P < 0.05).Chitosan liquid accelerated the generation of capillary sprouts and vascular endothelial cells at the early stage of wound healing,promoted the production of fibroblasts and collagen fibers at the middle stage,and improved the organization of collagen fibers at the late stage.Conclusion Chitosan liquid exerts a promising promotive effect on wound healing.
7.Clinical efficacy of NEOVEIL in postoperative pulmonary air leakage of pulmonary bullae resection by video-assisted thoracic surgery

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of NEOVEIL in postoperative pulmonary air leakage of pulmonary bullae resection by video-assisted thoracic surgery. Methods We retrospectively analyzed clinical data of 37 cases received NEOVEIL combined with ATB45 in video-assisted thoracic surgery (the NEOVEIL group), and clinical data of 40 cases by ATB45 alone(the control group) . We compared postoperative hospitalization time, keeping time of pleural cavity tubes, the pulmonary leakage time and the incidence of pulmonary infection in the two groups. Results There was no postoperative mechanical ventilation,hemothorax and death. In the NEOVEIL group, the postoperative hospitalization time was 5 to 9 days, the postoperative keeping time of pleural cavity tubes 2 to 4 days, the postoperative pulmonary leakage time 0 to 2 days with 4 patients un-leakage, and 1 patients with pulmonary infection; whereas the postoperative hospitalization time was 6 to 10 days,the postoperative keeping time of pleural cavity tubes 3 to 6 days,the postoperative pulmonary leakage time 2 to 5 days and 8 patients with pulmonary infection in the control group. There was statistical significance in the postoperative hospitalization time, keeping time of pleural cavity tubes, the pulmonary leakage time and the incidence of pulmonary inflammation in two groups(P < 0. 05). The incidence of pulmonary inflammation of the NEOVEIL group (2. 7%) was significantly lower than that of the control group(20. 0%)(x2 = 4. 02, P < 0. 05). Conclusion The operative effectiveness of the NEOVEIL group is better than that of the control group. The NEOVEIL can prevent the postoperative pulmonary leakage.
8.Expression of suppressor of cytokine signaling 2 in breast carcinoma by tissue microarray

Objective: To investigate the expression of suppressor of cytokine signaling 2 (SOCS2) in breast carcinoma tissues and to discuss its relationship with clinical pathological data of breast carcinoma patients. Methods: The tissue microarray for 171 cases of breast carcinoma specimens, 18 adjacent tissues and 20 breast benign lesions were established. Then the expression of SOCS2, ER, PR, cerbB2, p53 and Ki-67 was detected by tissue microarray technique and S-P immunohistochemistry. Results: Positive rates of the SOCS2 protein in the breast carcinoma specimens, adjacent tissues and breast benign lesion were 57. 89% (99/171), 94. 44% (17/18), and 75% (15/20), respectively. 9.Application of neuronavigation system for the transsphenoidal resection of pituitary adenoma

Objective To investigate the value of neuronavigation system in resection of pituitary adenoma through the endonasal transsphenoidal approach. Methods Twenty-one patients with pituitary adenomas underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or CT scans studies. The image datasets were transported into the neuronavigation system. The anatomic information of approach was reconstructed for three-dimensional visualization and the best approach was designed. The midline structure and internal carotid artery were displayed in real-time intraoperatively, the anterior-wall of sphenoidal sinus and the floor of sella were accurately opened and the tumor was resected guiding by neuronavigation system. Results All the operations were smoothly and accurately performed under the neuronavigation by transsphenoidal approach. No injury occurred in the internal carotid artery and cavernous sinus. After surgery, 13 patients got better vision and visual field. Postoperative transient diabetes insipidus was found in 11 cases, and CSF leak in 1 and serious hyponatremia in 2 cases. Total tumor removal was achieved in 17 patients and subtotal removal in 2 cases during operations, which were confirmed by postoperative MRI. Three-month follow-up data showed only one recurrence case (subtotal tumor removal), the recurrence rate was 4.8%. Conclusion Neuronavigation system provided real-time localization with three-dimensional anatomic information of the endonasal transsphenoidal approach during pituitary adenomas surgery. As a result, the approach proceeds more smoothly and accurately, the tumor can be resected more completely, the surgical injury and complications can also be reduced.
10. Inhibitory Effect of Swertiamarin on MGC803 Cells in vitro and in vivo

Background: Gastric cancer is one of the most commonly seen malignant tumors. Inhibiting the proliferation of gastric cancer cells is the key for the development of anticancer drugs. Aims: To investigate the effect of swertiamarin on proliferation of MGC803 cells in vitro and in vivo. Methods: MGC803 cells were cultured with different concentrations of swertiamarin (0, 30, 60 and 90 μg/mL) for 48 hours. The cell activity were detected by MTT. The apoptosis rate was measured by Annexin V-FITC/PI assay. The contents of Bax and Bcl-2 were detected by ELISA. MGC803 cell xenograft tumor in BALB/c nude mice was established, and different concentrations of swertiamarin (0, 40, 60 and 80 mg/kg) were injected through caudal vein. Nude mice were killed when the volume of tumor was 1 000 mm3. The initial and final body weights of nude mice were recorded. The protein expression of Ki-67 was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results: Compared with control group, different concentrations of swertiamarin effectively inhibited the proliferation of MGC803 cells, induced cell apoptosis, increased the content of Bax, while the content of Bcl-2 was significantly decreased (P<0.05). In BALB/c nude mice with MGC803 cell xenograft tumor, the volume of tumor, protein expression of Ki-67 decreased significantly in groups injected with different concentrations of swertiamarin than in control group (P<0.05). Conclusions: Swertiamarin is a safe and effective anti-gastric tumor plant agent.
