Objective To study the prevalence of anxiety and depression in the retired veterans of the armed force and its related factors.Methods Prevalence of anxiety and depression was studied in 836 veterans aged 60 or over retired from the armed force living in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province by physical checks-up and questionnaire. Data were analyzed with SPSS software in a microcomputer.Results Among 836 retired veterans investigated, 296 (35.4%) were in slight anxiety, 58 (6.9%) in moderate or severe anxiety, 336 (40.2%) in slight depression and 63 (7.5%) in moderate or severe depression, with those aged 60~64 and 75~79 years more liable to suffering. [Objective]To retrospectively analyze of functional and radiographic outcome of distal calvicle fractures (Neer type II) treated with coracoclavicular screw fixation.[Method]Fifteen patients with Neer type II distal clavicle fracture were treated surgically between March 2001 and March 2004.Operative treatment included open reduction and fixation of the proximal clavicular fragment to the coracoid process using a 6.5-mm cancellous screw and repair of the coracoclavicular ligaments.Perioperative radiographs were performed to ensure that the screw was introduced properly into the coracoid.Following the operation,the arm was placed in a sling for two weeks.After two weeks,the sling was discontinued and the patient was permitted to use the arm for daily activities except for lifting,pulling,and pushing for 6 weeks.The patient is instructed not to perform any heavy lifting,pushing,pulling or participate in contact sports for 3 months.Data were collected to allow scoring according to the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons shoulder index 6 months after operation.[Result]All the patients were followed up at an average of 16 months (range:9~26 months).Fracture union occurred at a mean of 7 weeks (range:6~9 weeks)postoperatively without any serious complications such as screw-migration,pseudarthrosis,infection,neurovascular damage,or skin necrosis.All patients returned to the pre-injury level of activity with no residual pain or dysfunction.The mean American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons shoulder index was 97 points ( range: 90-100 points) 6 months after operation.Two patients showed radiologically ossification of the acromioclavicular joint with no clinical symptoms.[Conclusion]Coracoclavicular screw fixation is a relatively simple,reliable,and safe technique of open reduction and internal fixation of the type II distal clavicle fracture.

Twenty two cases of acute agranulocytosis were treated with fetal liver infusion (FLI) in this study. The total effective rate was 90.91%. The FLI group markedly increased leukocyte counts and absolute value of granulocytes as compared with the control group. There were no significant side effects. The result shows that FLI would be helpful in the treatment of acute agranulocytosis. The mechanism of treatment of acute agranulocytosis with FLI is also discussed.

Objective To investigate the morbidity, clinical characteristics, diagnosis, the pathological classification, character and special behaviour of transformation and the tendency of development of ovarian adenofibroma and cystadenofibroma, so as to provide information for clinical work. Methods 7 patients of ovarian adenofibroma and cystadenofibroma were retrospectively analysed on their onset age, clinical manifestations, ultrasonographic findings, pelvic examination and postsurgical pathology. Results All the seven tumors were serous. The ultrasonography revealed a cystic mass in the overy or near the overy, with clear boundary, and regular in shape. Three tumors were papillary (with rich signal of circulation in the papillary wall in two cases). In one case there was rich circulatory signal in the wall of the cyst. Three tumors had neither papilla on the wall of the cyst, nor blood signal. Pathological examination showed that 4 tumors were benign, and three were borderline. Conclusion The tumor is more prevalent in women of childbearing age. Unilateral tumor is more common than bilateral. The tumor is mainly serous, most of them are benign, and malignant tumors are rare. Ultrasonograply may be helpful to defining the nature and differentiation of the tumor

Objective To investigate the pathogenic significance of antigenic epitopes and their relevant antibodies in pemphigus vulgaris (PV) by neonatal mouse model. Methods The extracellular domain 1-2 (EC1-2) fusion protein was expressed and purified by glutathione affinity chromatography on the basis of construction of recombinant EC1-2 vector, and then the New Zealand white rabbits were immunized to obtain the specific antisera. The IgG fraction was transferred into the neonatal mice passively after it was purified from the antisera. After 15-18 hours of injection, the abdomen skin and the sera of the mice were examined by light microscopy, electron microscopy, direct immunofluorescence and indirect immunofluorescence. Results In the evaluation of the study group of mice, the intraepithelial vesicle formation was observed. Electron microscopy showed that intercellular spaces were widened, desmosome split and disappeared. In immunofluorescence, the fluorescence-labeled IgG deposied between the acantholytic cells. In the control group of mice there were no pathogenic changes observed, except very weak fluorescence between intercellular spaces. Conclusion The PV mouse model established shows that the EC1-2 epitope in PVA antigen and its relevant antibodies were pathogenic, and can be used as a tool in studying the pathogenesis of PV.

Objective To compare the difference between crystalloids and colloids under goal-directed fluid therapy (GDFT) in elective hepatectomy.Methods Seventy patients undergoing hepatectomy, 42 males and 28 females, aged 18-65 years, ASA physical status Ⅱ or Ⅲ, were included and randomly divided into three groups base on fluid treatment: conventional fluid therapy (group C, n=24), goal-directed fluid therapy filled with colloids (group G1, n=23) and goal-directed fluid therapy filled with crystalloids (group G2, n=23).Group C received conventional fluid therapy mainly based on MAP while group G1 and group G2 received goal-directed fluid therapy based on MAP, stroke volume variation (SVV) and cardiac index (CI), and the Flotrac/Vigileo system was used to obtain SVV and CI in group G1 and group G2.250 ml colloids were administered if SVV>13% in group G1 while 250 ml crystalloids were administered in group G2.If CI<2.5 L·min-1·m-2, dobutamine 2.0-10.0 μg·kg-1·min-1 was given until CI≥2.5 L·min-1·m-2.The ScvO2, Lac and Glu were tested at 5 min before anesthesia induction (T1), 5 min before hepatectomy (T2), 5 min after hepatectomy (T3) and the end of operation (T4).The duration of operation, fluid requirement, urinary output, bleeding volume, and the use of vasoactive agent were recorded.The exhaust time, ambulation time and postoperative hospital stay were recorded.Preoperative and postoperative liver and kidney function tests and postoperative complications were followed up.Results Compared with group C, the total volume was lower, flatus time, ambulation time and postoperative hospital stay were shorter, ScvO2 at T3 and T4 were higher, Lac at T2-T4 were lower, Glu at T3 and T4 were lower, ALT and AST on the third day and the fifth day after surgery were lower in group G1 (P<0.05).Compared with group G1, the amount of crystalloids was increased, the incidences of postoperative nausea and vomiting were significantly higher in group G2 (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in flatus time, ambulation time and postoperative hospital stay between group G1 and group G2.Conclusion GDFT in hepatectomy propably improves the microcirculation and tissue oxygenation, protects liver function, promotes gastrointestinal function recovery and shortens postoperative hospital stay.GDFT using colloids bolus contribute to a much lower incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting.There is no significant difference in tissue perfusion and postoperative recovery between colloids and crystalloids.

Methods In 22 patients with acute urticaria, 20 patients with chronic urticaria and 19 normal controls, the levels of IL-13, IL-4 and IFN-? of peripheral T lymphocytes were measured by flow cytometry.
