Journal of Integrative Medicine 2004;2(3):196-8
OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of recipes replenishing qi and activating blood on cell proliferation and apoptosis in the liver of natural aging rats. METHODS: Natural aging rats were under administration of recipes replenishing qi or activating blood for 4 months. The liver of the rats was prepared into cell suspension for determination of cell proliferation and apoptosis with PI-staining and flow cytometer. RESULTS: (1) Compared with those of the young rats, the cells in G(0)-G1 phase in the liver tissue of aging rats were increased (P< 0.01), and apoptosis cells were increased (P< 0.01), while the cells in S and G2-M phases were decreased (P< 0.01). (2) Compared with those of the aging rats, the cells in G(0)-G1 phase in the liver tissue of aging rats administered recipes replenishing qi or activating blood were decreased (P< 0.01), and it was more obvious in activating blood group than in replenishing qi group (P< 0.01); the cells in S and G2-M phases were increased (P< 0.01) and there was no significant difference between the activating blood group and the replenishing qi group (P> 0.05). (3) The apoptosis cells in replenishing qi or activating blood group were decreased significantly (P< 0.01), and the effect of replenishing qi was better than that of activating blood (P< 0.01). CONCLUSION: (1) Cell proliferation is decreased and apoptosis is increased in the liver tissue of natural aging rats. (2) Recipes replenishing qi or activating blood can accelerate cell proliferation in the liver tissue of natural aging rats, and the effect of activating blood was slightly stronger than that of replenishing qi. (3) Recipes replenishing qi or activating blood can inhibit cell apoptosis in the liver tissue of natural aging rats, and the effect of replenishing qi was better than that of activating blood.

DNA methylation as an important aspect of epigenetics plays an important role in spermatogenesis and embryonic development. In recent years, researchers have found that male infertility, in particular abnormal semen quality, is related to abnormal DNA methylation. To further delineate the pathogenesis of male infertility and inspire new ideas for the treatment of male infertility, a comprehensive review over the correlation between abnormal methylation of imprinted genes, repetitive DNA elements and non-imprinted genes, semen quality (including sperm count, morphology, and vitality) and male infertility is provided.

Objective To analyze clinical data of anorectal malformations(ARM)in children with gastrointes-tinal perforation and explore the features and risk factors associated with gastrointestinal perforation. Methods A retro-spective review was performed in all children with ARM at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi′an Jiaotong University from September 2011 to September 2016. The association between gastrointestinal perforations and other factors were statistically analyzed, such as low birth weight, premature birth, delayed diagnosis, and the type of ARM. Based on the related literatures obtained from PubMed,Web of Science and Wanfang database, the clinical characteristics were ex-plored in patients with gastrointestinal perforation complicated with ARM. Results A total of 143 patients with ARM were included in the study,of whom 17 cases belonged to delayed diagnosis,16 cases with low birth weight patients,21 case were premature infants. In all patients,3 patients were complicated with gastrointestinal perforation, and the diagnosis of 2 cases were delayed,2 cases had low birth weight,1 case was premature infant, and the perforation sites were all loca-ted in the sigmoid colon or rectum. Statistical analysis showed that perforation was associated with delayed diagnosis(P =0. 037)and low birth weight(P = 0. 033),however,perforation was not associated with prematurity(P = 0. 381)or the type of ARM(χ2 =0. 000,P =1. 000). A total of 23 cases with complete clinical data in 15 English literatures and 3 cases in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi′an Jiaotong University were summarized. The reviewing showed that 92% of perfo-rations occurred before surgical decompression of the obstructed colon, and 68% of perforations occurred in the sigmoid colon or rectum. Conclusions Gastrointestinal perforation is a rare complication in ARM. And it is associated with delayed diagnosis,as well as low birth weight or the distal bowel canal underdevelopment. Careful perineal examination will clearly identify the existence of ARM and therefore delayed diagnosis can be totally avoided. Thus, the incidence of bowel perforation in patients with ARM can be reduced effectively.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2021;37(7):2240-2255
In recent years, peptide self-assembly has received much attention because of its ability to form regular and ordered structures with diverse functions. Self-assembled peptides can form aggregates with defined structures under specific conditions. They show different characteristics and advantages (e.g., good biocompatibility and high stability) compared with monomeric peptides, which form the basis for potential application in the fields of drug delivery, tissue engineering, and antiseptics. In this paper, the molecular mechanisms, types and influencing factors of forming self-assembled peptides were reviewed, followed by introducing the latest advances on fibrous peptide hydrogels and self-assembled antimicrobial peptides. Furthermore, the challenges and perspectives for peptide self-assembly technology were discussed.

Objective To explore the correlation between social support and pregnancy depression in Shenzhen. Methods From August 2018 and June 2020, a structured questionnaire survey was conducted among pregnant women who underwent pregnancy examination in a 3A-grade maternal & child health care hospital. A total of 1 396 questionnaires with complete information were collected. Chi-square test and Wilcoxon rank sum test were used to analyze the baseline characteristics. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% CI confidence interval between social support and pregnancy depression were estimated using logistics regression model. Subgroup analysis was also conducted. Results There were statistically significant differences in education level, medical insurance rate, household registration, family monthly income, proportion of multiparas, proportion of husbands being the only child, pregnancy stress and social support between the depression group and non-depression group. After multi-factors adjustment, the OR (95% CI) of the total social support score was 0.97(95%CI 0.95-0.99), the OR (95% CI) of the objective support dimension was 0.90(95% CI 0.87-0.94), and the P value of the interaction term multiplied by pregnancy term was less than 0.05. According to the stratified analysis of pregnancy, the total score of social support was significantly correlated with the depression status only in the third trimester, with an OR (95% CI) of 0.97 (95% CI 0.94-0.99). The objective support dimension was significantly correlated with depression status in the first and third trimesters, and the OR (95% CI) was 0.78 (95% CI 0.61-0.99) and 0.89 (95% CI 0.84-0.94), respectively. The OR of support utilization score in the third trimester was 0.91 (95% CI 0.83-0.99). Conclusion Social support was negatively correlated with depression during pregnancy and was particularly important in the third trimester. Various dimensions of social support were differentially correlated with pregnancy depression in each trimester. The objective support dimension was particularly important in the first and third trimesters.
10.A consensus on the management of allergy in kindergartens and primary schools
Chinese Journal of School Health 2023;44(2):167-172
Abstract
Allergic diseases can occur in all systems of the body, covering the whole life cycle, from children to adults and to old age, can be lifelong onset and even fatal in severe cases. Children account for the largest proportion of the victims of allergic disease, Children s allergies start from scratch, ranging from mild to severe, from less to more, from single to multiple systems and systemic performance, so the prevention and treatment of allergic diseases in children is of great importance, which can not only prevent high risk allergic conditions from developing into allergic diseases, but also further block the process of allergy. At present, there is no consensus on the management system of allergic children in kindergartens and primary schools. The "Consensus on Allergy Management and Prevention in Kindergartens and Primary Schools", which includes the organizational structure, system construction and management of allergic children, provides evidence informed recommendations for the long term comprehensive management of allergic children in kindergartens and primary schools, and provides a basis for the establishment of the prevention system for allergic children.
