1.The associations of single nucleotide polymorphisms on bactericidal/permeability-increasing protein and lipopolysaccharide-binding protein with the susceptibility of infection
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(06):-
Objective: To investigate the associations of single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) on bactericidal/permeability-increasing protein(BPI) and lipopolysaccharide-binding protein(LBP) with the complication of sepsis. Methods: The SNP genotypes of BPI Lys216Glu,PstⅠin intron 5,G545C,LBP Cys98Gly and Leu436Pro were examined by restriction fragment length polymorphism PCR(PCR-RFLP).Results:The rate of BPI Lys216Glu G/G genotypes and G-alleles in patients with sepsis were significantly higher than that of volunteers. The rate of BPI Lys216Glu G/G genotypes and G-alleles in nonsurviving patients were significantly higher than that of survivor patients. Conclusion: The BPI Lys216Glu G-allele may be associated with the high risk of sepsis.

Objective:To study the changes of serum IL 1?,IL 6,IL 8,TNF ? and sIL 2R and its relationship with disease activity in adult Still disease patients. Methods:Serum levels of IL 1?,IL 6,IL 8,TNF ? and sIL 2R were assessed by ELISA in 18 adult Still disease patients before and one month after treatment with prednisone. Results: Active adult Still disease patients had significant elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and serum levels of C reactive protein (CRP),IL 1?,IL 6,IL 8,TNF ? and sIL 2R.After one month treatment with prednisone,ESR and serum levels of CRP,IL 6,TNF ? and sIL 2R significantly decreased. There was a significant correlation between ESR values and serum IL 6,TNF ? and sIL 2R levels, and between serum CRP levels and IL 6,TNF ? and sIL 2R levels.Serum IgG,IgA and IgM levels in active adult Still disease patients were similar to those in healthy controls. Conclusion: There are no changes in serum immunoglobulins but significant increases of serum IL 1?,IL 6,IL 8,TNF ? and sIL 2R levels in active adult Still disease.Serum levels of IL 6,TNF ? and sIL 2R are related to the activity of adult Still disease.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic valve of double balloon enteroscopy in patients with obscure abdominal pain and analyze the etiology of chronic abdominal pain resulted from enteral diseases. Methods Sixty-seven cases with chronic abdominal pain underwent a previous negative gastroscopy, colonoscopy, gastrointestinal barium, B ultrasound and electrocardiogram were received double balloon enteroscopy during June 2005 to June 2008. Results Thirty-six of 67 patients was done by enteroscopy via anus, and 19 cases via oral, and 12 cases via both anus and oral. The lesions were found in 41 of the 67 patients, with overall diagnostic yield of 61.19%. Among 41 cases of abdominal pain resulted from small bowel diseases, Crohn's disease were found in 15 cases (36.59%), non-specific small enteritis in 10 cases (24.39%), tumors in 8 cases (19.51%),other enteral diseases in 8 cases (19.51%). Conclusions Double balloon enteroscopy was a diagnostic modality with a high diagnostic value for obscure abdominal pain resulted from small bowel diseases. The most common causes of obscure abdominal pain were Crohn's disease, non-specific small enteritis and tumors.

Objective To analyze the features of cervical vertebra X-ray examination and transcranial Doppler (TCD) in children with cervical vertigo, and investigate the mechanism of the disease. Methods X-ray examination of cervical vertebra and TCD were performed on 80 children with cervical vertigo, and the features of the results were analyzed. Results The abnormal results of cervical X-ray examination mainly showed atlantoaxial joint or/and C2, C3 vertebral joint disorders, some of which combined with cervical instability, cervical curvaturestraightened and even reverse curvature, cervical scoliosis. The abnormal results of TCD showed the blood flow velocity in single or multiple branch of artery increased mainly, some of which decreased or became asymmetrial. Conclusion The cervical vertigo in children may result from various kinds of disorders of the atlas, axis or/and C2, C3 vertebrae.
