Chronic neck pain is a common chronic musculoskeletal disorder. Research on neck muscle fatigue contributed to the understanding the pathogenesis of chronic neck pain. The influences caused by the neck muscle fatigue, such as the change of cervical proprioception and balance, could easily lead to chronic injury. Changes in morphology and recruitment strategy of cervical muscle could decrease muscle endurance, which bring about further damage. Targeted therapy and training can relieve muscle fatigue, improve muscle function, and reduce the recurrence rate. Surface electromyography has unique advantages in the evaluation of cervical muscle fatigue. The assessment of muscle fatigue could provide for assistance to the treatment and curative effect of chronic neck pain.

ObjectiveTo explore the correlation between the prevalence of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) and metabolic syndrome (MS)in the army elderly. Methods Totally 1 230 veterans (aged 70 years and over) from 26 military sanatorium in Shijiazhuang city were studied. The prevalence of BPH and MS was calculated.ResultsThe prevalence of BPH among the elderly was 77.0%.There was a trend of increase in the prevalence of BPH with increasing age (x2 = 50.4,P<0.01).The prevalence of MS among the male elderly was 19.6%.MS was a risk factor for BPH(x2 =24.2,P<0.0001).ConclusionsMS may be one of risk factors for the prevalence of BPH.

Objective To observe the effect of brachial plexus block with ropivacaine and dexamethasone injecting on shoulder-hand syndrome (SHS) in stroke patients. Methods Thirty stroke patients complicated with SHS were randomly divided into the control group and trial group with 15 cases in each group. All patients of two groups received rehabilitation treatment, including the corrective positioning of limbs and trunk, physical exercise training, massage therapy, as well as psychological intervention. The trial group was added treatment of brachial plexus block with ropivacaine and dexamethasone injecting. The therapeutic effect was assessed with Visual Analogous Score (VAS) and Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA).Results The efficacy of the trial group was significantly superior to that of the control group. After treatment, the VAS score of the trial group on shoulder pain decreased obviously and was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.01). The FMA score of the trial group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). The range of motion of joint of the trial group was superior to that of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Brachial plexus block with ropivacaine and dexamethasone injecting has significant effectiveness on stroke patients complicated with SHS, and is helpful to recover the function of shoulder joint.

BACKGROUND: Studies on the biomechanical properties in NUSS procedure have obtained some achievements, but the effect of scoliosis surgical correction of scoliosis on thoracic deformity remains unclear.OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of simultaneous correction of pectus excavatum and scoliosis on thoracic deformity so as to provide reference for designing a rational orthopedic scheme.METHODS: The three-dimensional reconstruction model of the chest was established based on the CT data of the patients with pectus excavatum and scoliosis. The surgical correction of pectus excavatum and scoliosis was simulated by numerical simulation method.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Results after correction showed that the bilateral spinous processes at T3-5 segments displaced to the left (X direction) about 1 mm, suggesting that the simultaneous correction is favorable for the correction of scoliosis. (2) Compared with the single NUSS procedure, the displacement at Y direction was increased by 13.358 mm in the simultaneous correction; meanwhile, there was significant difference in the shortest displacement between two methods.(3) In views of Von Mises stress distribution, the stress in the simultaneous correction was decreased by 24.6 MPa compared with the single Nuss procedure, indicating that the simultaneous correction can significantly reduce the Von Mises stress on the chest, which contributes to alleviate the postoperative pain. (4) Our results show that the simultaneous correction cannot only improve scoliosis, but also improve the symptoms of pectus excavatum.

Objective To explore the role and clinical significance of GSTM 3 ( glutathione S-trans-ferase mu 3) expression in prostate cancer (PCa). Methods We had used the two-dimensional fluores-cence difference gel electrophoresis ( 2D-DIGE) and mass spectral analysis to further verify the microarray data of mRNA expression profiling discovered .GSTM3 mRNA level was detected by Rael-time Quantitative PCR ( RT-QPCR) in 28 pairs of prostate cancer tissue and benign tissue .The relationship of GSTM 3 level with the serum PSA level and the clinical feature of PCa were analyzed . Results In 2D-DIGE study, we found that the expression of GSTM 3 protein in adjacent tissues was significantly higher than that in PCa tis-sues (P<0.05).RT-QPCR results showed that GSTM3 in adjacent tissues (8.12±0.51) was significantly higher than that in PCa tissues (7.18±0.54) (P<0.05).There was no significant difference of GSTM3 ex-pression in different serum PSA packets ( P>0.05) and prostate cancer clinical pathological parameters ( P>0.05). Conclusions GSTM3 expression is down-regulated in PCa tissues, and we may identify PCa by detecting the GSTM 3 expression .

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Guizhi Decoction plus Yupingfeng Powder for chronic urticaria and its effect on serum total IgE level. Methods One hundred and twenty patients were randomly divided into treatment group, control group 1 and control group 2,40 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with Guizhi Decoction,Yupingfeng Powder and Loratadine Tablets orally, the control group 1 was given intramuscular injection of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin polysaccharide nucleic acid and oral use of Loratadine Tablets, and the control group 2 was only given oral use of Loratadine Tablets. The course of treatment covered 5 weeks. The levels of serum total IgE in the three groups were determined before and after treatment, and the therapeutic effect was evaluated after treatment. Results (1) The total effective rate was 85.0% in the treatment group,80.0% in the control group 1,and 55.0% in the control group 2.The effect of control group 1 and the treatment group was superior to that of the control group 2 (P< 0.05),but the difference was insignificant between the treatment group and control group 1 (P> 0.05).(2)Before treatment, the serum total IgE level of the three groups was higher than that of the normal control group (P < 0.05).After treatment, the serum total IgE level of the three groups was obviously decreased (P < 0.05 compared with that before treatment);the inter-group comparison results showed that the effect of the treatment group and control group 1 on decreasing the serum total IgE level was superior to that of the control group 2(P < 0.05),while the effect of the treatment group was similar to that of the control group 1 (P >0.05).(3) During the treatment, blood routine examination indexes and hepato-renal function of the three groups showed no abnormal changes, neither adverse reaction was shown. Conclusion Guizhi Decoction plus Yupingfeng Powder exerts certain therapeutic effect for the treatment of chronic urticaria, and can decrease the serum total IgE level, thus to stabilize the curative effect and reduce the recurrence.
