Objective: ①To detect the concentrations of interleukin 1?(IL 1?) and prostaglandin E 2 (PGE 2) in periapical exudates in the patients with acute or chronic periapical periodontitis; ② To examine their correlations with clinical and radiographic findings of the involved teeth.Methods: The volume of periapical exudates was quantified using the standard paper point sampling method; the concentration of IL 1? and PGE 2 was detected using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) or radioimmunoassay(RIA) in 40 cases with acute and in 40 with chronic periapical periodentitis. 0. 05). No significant difference was found in maternal and neonatal complications between the ANCA( + ) and ANCA(－) subgroups in S-PE subjects. But those 4 cases who developed renal function insufficiency patients were ANCA( + ). Conclusions ANCA might be associated with renal diseases in preeclampsia women, and further studies is required to determine whether ANCA is involved with the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.

Objective To investigate the cognition, self-management and quality of life of osteoporosis in elderly patients, and to provide the basic theory for health education in elderly patients with osteoporosis.Methods 565 elderly patients with osteoporosis in our hospital from May 2012 to Mar.2015 were enrolled.The cognition, health beliefs, self-efficacy and quality of life were investigated by questionnaires and analyzed by Microsoft Office Excel 2007.Results 565 osteoporosis patients, the symptom score was (15.6±2.0), and the score was lower in sporting knowledge (4.3 ± 1.8) than in calcium knowledge (5.7 ± 1.5) (t=2.784, P=0.011).Health beliefs score was (139.0±9.6), containing exercise benefits score of (21.5±3.1), exercise barriers score of (13.8±3.9), susceptible score of (19.4±4.2), serious score of (18.8±4.4), health motivation score of (25.0±3.0), calcium intake benefits score of (20.7±3.5) and calcium intake disorder score of (19.8 ± 4.0).Self efficacy score was (63.7 ± 19.4), containing exercise efficacy score of (58.6 ±18.7) and calcium efficacy score of (69.2± 18.5).Quality of life score included the general health (16.5± 2.9 score), social function (5.8 ± 1.3 score), vitality (14.8 ± 3.2 score), mental health (20.7± 4.2 score), physiological function (20.5 ± 4.1 score), physiological role limit (6.3 ± 1.6 score), emotional role limit (5.1 ± 1.3 score) and body pains (4.3 ± 1.8 score).Conclusions The score in cognitive function is low in elderly osteoporosis patients.It's useful to improve elderly osteoporosis awareness and quality of life by carrying out relative education.

Objective To observe the diameters of macular hole and destroyed boundary line between inner and outer segment (IS/OS) of the photoreceptors and the correlation with the visual acuity in patients with idiopathic macular hole(IMH). Methods The clinical data of 39 eyes (37 patients) with IMH were retrospective analyzed. All the patients had undergone the examinations of visual acuity (Snellen chart), intra-acular pressure, ocular fundus (indirect ophthalmoscope), and Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT) whose speed was 27 000 A scan/s, area was 6.0 mm×6.0 mm, and the mode was 512×128. The diametres of macular hole and destroyed IS/OS, and the correlations with visual acuity were detected. Results The mean IogMAR was 0.99±0. 44 (ranged from 0. 15 to 2.00), the mean diameter of macular holes was (942.0± 348. 4)μm(ranged from 171 to 1491 μm), and the mean diameter of IS/OS disruption was (1870. 35±673.2) μm(range from 463 to 3176 μm). There was a significant correlation among the diameter of the macular hole, the diameter of the IS/OS disruption, and IogMAR in IMH (P= 0. 038, 0. 002, 0. 000). In eyes with closed macular hole after surgery, the IogMAR and the diameter of the IS/OS disruption had a significant decrease. Conclusion Using FD-OCT the photoreceptor changes can be visualized in vivo. The abnormality in the IS-OS boundary line appears to be involved for a much larger area beyond the macular hole itself, and persists there with small size even after the maeular hole closure surgery.

In recent years, the prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in China has been increasing year by year, and it has become a major public health concern. The prevention and control of chronic CVD is inseparable from effective early screening. However, due to the imbalance in the level of economic and social development in various parts of China, the universality and accessibility of screening in some areas still need to be improved. The fundus retinal blood vessel is the only vessel in the whole body that can be directly observed. Studies have found that its morphological and functional changes are related to the occurrence and development of many CVD, and it has the potential to become a tool for assessment and prediction. This review intends to introduce the research progress of retinal blood vessels in the evaluation and prediction of cardiovascular disease in recent years.

ObjectiveTo explore the correlation between the prevalence of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) and metabolic syndrome (MS)in the army elderly.Methods Totally 1 230 veterans (aged 70 years and over) from 26 military sanatorium in Shijiazhuang city were studied.The prevalence of BPH and MS was calculated.ResultsThe prevalence of BPH among the elderly was 77.0％.There was a trend of increase in the prevalence of BPH with increasing age (x2 = 50.4,P＜0.01).The prevalence of MS among the male elderly was 19.6％.MS was a risk factor for BPH(x2 =24.2,P＜0.0001).ConclusionsMS may be one of risk factors for the prevalence of BPH.

Objective To explore the changes of etiology and mortality of upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) in the last 20 years in Guangdong region. Methods A total of 3140 UGIB cases diagnosed in Guangdong General Hospital from January 1990 to October 2009 were analyzed with retrospective analysis. Groups were divided according to admission chronological order and age to analyze the causes of UGIB to get the trend of changes and influencing factors. Results UGIB occurred more in men than in women, the gender ratio was 2. 5∶1. There was no significant change in gender composition between the first and later 10 years. Peptic ulcer bleeding (PUB) was the main cause of UGIB in young and middle-age patients (age<60 years), especially duodenal ulcer (DU)bleeding (45. 0%) , and secondary was acute gastric mucosal lesion ( AGML) (16. 6%). While in elder patients group (age≥60 years), the main cause of UGIB was AGML (40. 5%), the frequency was significantly higher compared with the young and middle-age group (40. 5% vs 16. 6%,P<0. 01).Compared the first 10 years with the later 10 years, the occurrence rate of PUB was overall in downward trend (57. 4% vs 42. 8%, P<0.01), of which DU and compound ulcer(CU) bleeding reduced significantly (DU: 43.8% vs 27.7%, P<0. 01 and CU: 7.7% to 5.5%, P<0. 05). While the incidence of gastric ulcer (GU) (7.4% vs 8. 1% ,P>0. 05) and esophagogastric variceal bleeding (EVB) (11. 7% vs 12. 9%, P>0.05) remained stable. The occurrence of AGML bleeding significantly increased than before (32. 4% vs 18. 8%,P<0. 01), and became one of the most important causes of UGIB. Conclusions PUB is still the most important cause of UGIB in Guangdong region. AGML becomes another important cause of UGIB in elder patients, which may relate to the increasing use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), anti-platelet and antineoplastic medicine.

Objective To investigate the dosage and safety of insulin aspart in continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion plus oral antidiabetic drugs for the treatment of hyperglycemia in elderly hip fracture.Methods Patients with hip fracture and hyperglycemia who required insulin pump therapy were divided into 2 groups according to age:elderly group (patients aged over 65 years,n=42) and non-elderly group (patients aged under 65 years,n=43).All patients were treated with insulin aspart in continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion plus oral antidiabetic drugs combined with diet therapy.Dosages of aspart insulin and adverse effects were compared between the two groups.Results There were no significant differences in basic aspart dosage and additional premeal dosage between elderly and non-elderly groups [(0.29±0.09) IU/kg vs.(0.30±0.07) IU /kg,(0.27±0.09) IU/kg vs.(0.27±0.07) IU/kg,both P＞0.05].The incidences of hypoglycemia with and without symptoms in elderly versus non-elderly groups were 4.8％ vs.4.7％ and 14.3％ vs.18.6％,which had no significant differences between the two groups (P＞0.05).Hypoglycemia accompanied by consciousness disorders,allergy,nonhealing and slow healing wounds were not found in the two groups.The ratio of oral antidiabetic drugs including metformin,glimepiride,and glycosidase inhibitor had no differences between the two groups.Conclusions Aspart insulin in continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion is effective and safe in the treatment of acute severe hyperglycemia in elderly patients with hip fractures when combined with diet therapy and oral antidiabetic drugs.

BACKGROUND:Closed reduction and interlocking intramedullary nailing can protect blood supply of fractured bone,decrease infection and promote bone healing.which is becoming the first choice for treating femoral shaft fracture However,it is difficult to conduct in closed reduction and keep stabilization of fractured bone.OBJECTIVE:To explore the curative effect of closed reduction and interlocking intramedullary nailing in treating femoral shaft fracture with assist of rubber tourniquet 360°elastic fixation METHODS:From May 2008 to November 2009,18 patients(14 males,4 females;aged 18-65 years)with closed femoral shaft fracture were treated at the Dongguan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Body skin was protected by cloth,elastic rubber tourniquet was doubled and 360°wrapped around the fractured bone with the length of 10 cm from up and down.Supracondylar femur was reamed by Kernig-needle;fractured bone was dealt with countertraction and horizontal rotation.Another assistant compressed the fractured bone according to the displacement of fracture,which contributes to bone fracture reduetion and interlocking intramedullary nailing.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:All 18 patients were followed up postoperatively,no case was found with skim necrosis and damage of nerve and blood vessel.16 cases were bone union with excellent 15 cases,fine 1 case;2 cases were still being followed up.Callus was firstly found 1 month after operation and was obviously found in 3e months postoperatively The result suggested that the treatment of closed reduction and interlocking intramedullary nailing with assist of rubber tourniquet360°elastic fixation is a simple and applicable approach.which reduces the interruption of blood supply for fractured bone and closed reduction gets good result,which reduces the chance of open reduction.

Objective To analyze the language function impairment differences between the two steps from the form to sound processing and from the sound to meaning processing for pseudo-words reading in Alzheimer' s disease (AD).Methods The pseudo-words reading test consists two parts:pseudo-true words and pseudopseudo words.Each part had 10 words.All of the 20 words were presented randomly.Correct reading presents the processing of from form to sound,and correct judging presents the processing of from sound to meaning.Each correct respond get 1 score,otherwise get 0.Each part had a total score of 20.Results The pseudo-words reading test was performed to 41 mild AD participants with Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE) average scores of (21.06 ±2.86),and 135 normal controls with MMSE average scores of (28.08± 1.52).The two groups were matched in age,gender and education.For all of the mild AD group and normal control group,there was no significant difference between reading score and judging score in either pseudo-true words or pseudo-pseudo words (P＞0.05).Comparing with mild AD group and normal control group,there was no significant difference in reading score in either pseudo-true words or pseudo-pseudo words (P＞0.05).For judging score,there was significant difference in pseudotrue words (P＜0.01) but not in pseudo-pseudo words (P＞0.05).Conclusion Understanding real syllable is impaired in patients with mild AD.
