Angiogenesis-related diseases involving EGF include acherosclerotic plaques, haemangioma, angiofibroma, tumor growth and arthritis. EGF may serve as a drug target and its antagonists may have important clinical applications.Peptide phage display libraries have been successfully applied in areas of finding ligands for enzymes, receptors, and many other molecules. A pⅧ-based peptide phage display library was panned with the cytokine EGF and several EGF-binding clones were selected based on ELISA and micropanning assays. The selected EGF-binders from peptide phage display library may be utilized in affinity chromatography in EGF downstream processing and even act as potential antagonists of EGF if their affinity is further improved through secondary library strategy.

Objective To evaluate the value of continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) in the gestational patients with impaired glucose regulation. Methods The glucose level in the subcutaneous tissue was monitored by CGMS for 3 days in 6 patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and 6 patients with gestational impaired glucose tolerance (GIGT). The fluctuation coefficient of blood glucose, percentage of hyperglycemic time, and percentage of hypoglycemic time were calculated. Results As shown by CGMS, the fluctuation coefficient of blood glucose, mean glucose level, percentage of hyperglycemic time, percentage of hypoglycemic time, mean fasting blood glucose, and mean postprandial blood glucose (PBG) levels were not significantly different between GDM group and GIGT group (P > 0. 05). The time for reaching the peak PBG level ranged 90-120minutes in both two groups (P > 0. 05). No sensor-related adverse events were noted. Conclusions It is safe to apply CGMS sensor in pregnant women. The blood glucose profiles are comparable between GDM and GIGT patients by CGMS; therefore, control of blood glucose should be equally strict in patients with GIGT as those with GDM.

Objective To understand the status of schistosomiasis of staff in the Hydrology Bureau of Yangtze Water Re-sources Committee and the Oncomelania hupensis snail condition of their work areas in 2013 so as to provide the evidences for the schistosomiasis control in the industry. Methods The physical examination data about schistosomiasis of the staff from 2006 to 2013 were collected and analyzed to understand the schistosomiasis prevalence condition of the staff and the changes of their liver parenchyma. Meanwhile the snail status in the work areas was surveyed. Results There were 1 393 staff involved in the physical examinations of schistosomiasis in 2003 197 of them were schistosomiasis patients the prevalence rate was 14.14% and no new acute schistosomiasis case occurred. The cases whose liver parenchyma were classified as Grade 0 ⅠⅡ Ⅲoccupied 28.9% 67.0% 3.05%and 1.02% respectively. A total of 24 work areas were involved in the snail survey and 71 snails were captured. Among the whole snails captured 39 were living snails but no schistosome infected snails were found. Conclusions The prevalence rate of schistosomiasis in staff of the Hydrology Bureau of Yangtze Water Resources Com-mittee is relatively high so the schistosomiasis surveillance as well as the snail survey and control still should be carried out con-sistently.

To meet the requirements for the development of marine resources and military operations, divers usually dive deeper than the depth at which narcosis is present during air diving.Under this condition, heliox is required for this div-ing.Sofar, some countries have developed their own decompression tables for routine heliox diving. The best-known is tables from USA and France. In the preceding century, tables of Former Soviet Union and France used for routine heliox diving were introduced into China. On the basis of both types of tables,Chinese Navy developed their own tables for this purpose. In this paper, we summarized the characteristics of these tables from 5 countries and compared them in terms of structure, oxygen use, total decompression time, first stop and other features. This may provide a basis for future modification of ta-bles used in China and the development of new tables for routine heliox diving.

Objective To quantitatively analyze the image quality of megavoltage cone-beam CT (MVCBCT) under different scanning conditions to provide reference in clinical applications. Methods Si-emens ONCOR linear accelerator with MVCBCT was used to scan the phantom under different conditions. The image quality was evaluated in terms of image noise, uniformity, spatial resolution, contrast resolution, the number of Monitor Units(MUs) used in imaging, and the size of the reconstruction matrix. The comparison of the image quality between MVCBCT and conventional simulator CT was also analyzed. Results The image noise was decreased with the increase of the number of MUs. The uniformity index showed that the system u-niformity was weakly dependent on MU numbers or the size of the reconstruction matrix. Except for the ima-ges with 5 MUs,all other images had the spatial resolution of 0.4 lp/mm with a reconstruction matrix of 256 ×256. Better low contrast resolution was achieved by using more MUs. For typical pelvis and head-and-neck patients, the imaging dose at the center was 0.8 cGy/MU and 0.7 cGy/MU, respectively, and the maxi-mum dose was about 1.2 cGy/MU. For typical abdomen patients, the image maximum dose and center dose was 1.3 cGy/MU and 0.7 cGy/MU,respectively. Conclusions The image quality of MVCBCT is inferior to the conventional kilo-voltage CT. However, with the optimization of the parameters in imaging,we can a-chieve sufficient image contrast in the bone, air and some soft-tissue structures with low imaging dose to pa-tients. Such images can be used for IGRT.

Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy of high-flow nasal cannulae oxygen (HFNC) in patients with respiratory failure. Methods Computerized PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, CBM, VIP, Wanfang Database up to March 31st, 2017, all published available randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or cohort studies about HFNC therapy for patients with respiratory failure were searched. The control group was treated with face mask oxygen therapy (FM) or non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV), while the experimental group was treated with HFNC. The main outcomemeasurements included endotracheal intubation rate, patient comfort, and the secondary outcome was in-hospital mortality. The quality of the literature was completed by two professionally trained evidence-based medical students, and meta-analysis was performed on quality-compliant literature. Funnel plot was used to analyze the publication bias. Results A total of 17 articles were enrolled including 15 RCTs and 2 cohort studies. There were 3909 patients enrolled, 1907 patients in HFNC group, and 2002 in control group (1068 patients with FM, and 934 with NIPPV). Meta-analysis showed that HFNC had a significant advantage over FM in reducing the tracheal intubation rate of patients with respiratory failure [odds ratio (OR) = 0.51, 95% confidence interval (95%CI) = 0.29-0.89,P = 0.02], but there was no significant difference as compared with that of NIPPV (OR = 0.80, 95%CI = 0.54-1.17,P = 0.25). It was shown by pooled analysis of two subgroups that compared with FM/NIPPV, HFNC had a significant advantage in reducing tracheal intubation rate in patients with respiratory failure (pooledOR = 0.66, 95%CI = 0.47-0.94, P = 0.02). Compared with FM, patients with respiratory failure were more likely to receive HFNC for comfort [standardized mean difference (SMD) = -0.41, 95%CI = -0.56 to -0.26,P < 0.00001]. There was no significant difference in hospital mortality between HFNC and FM (OR = 0.82, 95%CI = 0.55-1.24,P = 0.35) or NIPPV (OR = 0.66, 95%CI = 0.37-1.17, P = 0.16). The results of pooled analysis of two subgroups were still unchanged (pooledOR = 0.75, 95%CI = 0.54-1.05, P = 0.09). It was shown by the funnel analysis that there was a bias in the study of tracheal intubation rate in the literature, while the bias of patient comfort and hospital mortality was low. Conclusions Compared with FM, HFNC could reduce the rate of tracheal intubation in patients with respiratory failure, but no difference was found as compared with NIPPV. Compared with FM, HFNC made patients more comfortable, and it was easier to be accepted and tolerated. However, there was no difference in hospital mortality among FM, NIPPV, and HFNC.
