Purpose To observe the clinical efficacy of combined electro-acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of multiple infarctional dementia. Methods Eighty-eight patients were randomized into two groups:treatment group in which 48 cases were treated by combined electro-acupuncture and moxibustion and control group in which 40 cases were treated by oral administration of Huperzine A. Results The total effective rate was 90% in treatment group and 71% in control group,with a significant difference ( P ＜ 0.05 ); the score of Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE) increased more obviously in treatment group than in control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion Combined electro-acupuncture and moxibustion is effective in improving the clinical symptoms of multiple infarctional dementia.

Objective　To investigate the effect of positive pressure ventilation on radiosensitivity of the patients suffering from primary lung cancer. Methods　Thirty cases of lung cancer were randomly divided into two groups: ① combining therapy group: patients treated with posi tive pressure ventilation using BiPAP respirator and radiotherapy;② simple radi otherapy group. The changes of PaO2, SaO2, blood white cells and the cellula r immunological function were observed before and after treatment. Resul ts　Nasal or naso-facial positive pressure ventilation with BiPAP respi rator increased PaO2 significantly with the maximum of 7.5 kPa, SaO2 was ma inteined at above 95%. No significant change for the cellular immunological func tion was found in the combining therapy group （P>0.05）and only one patient with leukopenia（6.7%）. But in the radiotherapy group, the lymphocyte transfor mation efficiency and the ratio of CD4/CD8 were obviously decreased（P<0 .01), and leukopenia was found in 5 cases（33.3%）. Conclusion　 Nasal or naso-facial positive pressure ventilation with BiPAP respirator could improve the effect of radiotherapy for lung cancers. It could also increase PaO 2 significantly and has protective rote to the marrow and cellular immunologic al function of the patients.

Objective Insulin resistance is a possible cause of polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).It is presumed that ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase 1(ENPP1) is associated with insulin resistance.The purpose of this study is to explore the expression of ENPP1 in granulosa cells of the ovary and its relationship with PCOS. Methods Twelve aliquots of follicular granulosa cells were isolated from 12 samples of the patients with PCOS and 22 aliquots from 22 samples of the patients without PCOS,respectively.ENPP1 expression was analyzed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and in situ hybridization.The relative expression of ENPP1 mRNA was detected by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(real-time PCR). Results ENPP1 was expressed in granulosa cells of the ovary.ENPP1 expression's 2~(-?Ct) in granulosa cells of PCOS was significantly higher than non-PCOS(1.67?0.89 vs.0.94?0.76,P=0.017).Conclusion ENPP1 expression plays a role in ovary function and may be closely associated with the development of PCOS.

Among the 980, 154 cases were complicated with multiple organ failure (MOF), and 114 cases out of the 154 died with a mortality rate of 74%. Besides the heart and the lungs, the organs involved were the brain, the liver, the gastrointestinal tract, the kidneys and the blood system. It was found that MOF more often occurred in elderly persons. The older the patient is, the more the organs will be involved and the higher the mortality rate will be. Infection especially that of gram negative bacilli was the main factor to induce MOF. The combined administration of penicillin and the antibiotics of cephalosporin group was quite helpful to control the infections, which is the key step in the management of such cases, when the antibiotics of aminoglycoside group were used, special attention must be paid to the prevention of their toxic effects on the kidneys High-frequency jet ventilation is not suitable to treat cor pulmonale complicated with MOF.

OBJECTIVE To explore the application of n-butyl-cyanoacrylate to treat laryngopharyngeal sponge angioma.METHODS The therapy and outcome of 19 cases of laryngopharyngeal cavernous hemangiomas during 1994.1～2005.1 were analyzed retrospectively.The age of all the patients ranged from 18 to 67 years with an average of 40.2 years.15 of the 19 cases were sclerotherapied by injection of a new type of tissue adhesive NBCA.4 of the 19 cases were undergone dissection of the lesion by surgical approach combined with local injection of NBCA.The duration of Follow-up ranged from 1 to 7 years.RESULTS Complete remove of tumor was achieved in 16 cases(84.2%);the tumor of 3 cases(15.7%) was removed incompletely,whose residual tumor was ablated by YAG laser in outpatient. CONCLUSION The cavernous hemangioma occures rarely in laryngopharyngx and usually are poorly defined. It is difficult for treatment because of dangerous bleeding and airway obstruction.In this study,CT、MR and DSA were used to define the extent of disease,and a high cure rate were achieved by NBCA injection combined with surgery and laser ablation.

Objective To investigate the effects of cinobufacini on TGF-β1-induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition of human colorectal carcinoma cells in vitro.Methods The cultured colorectal carcinoma cell line(SW480) was divided into the control group,TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) individual treatment group and co-treatment groups with TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) + cinobufacini (2.5,5,10,20,40,80 mg/mL),which were cultured in vitro for 48 h.The proliferation of the cells were measured by CCK8 assay.The morphological changes were observed by inverted phase contrast microscope.The ability of cell invasion and migration was detected by Transwell assay.The mRNA and protein expressions of E-cadherin and Vimentin were detected with QRT-PCR and Western Blot.Results (1)Compared with the TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) individual treatment group,TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) + cinobufacini (10,20,40,80 mg/mL) co-treatment groups significantly had significantly proliferation inhibitory effect on SW480 (P＜0.05).(2) Compared with the normal control group,TGF-β1 individual treatment group and TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) + cinobufacini(2.5 mg/mL) group exhibited classical mesenchymal phenotype,while the TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) + cinobufacini (5 mg/mL) co-treatment group showed classical epithelial phenotype.(3) The ability of invasion and migration in the TGF-β1(10 ng/mL)+ cinobufacini(2.5,5 mg/mL) co-treatment group were significantly weakened compared with the TGF-β1 individual treatment group (P＜0.01).(4) QRT-PCR and Western Blot results indicated that compared with the normal control group,the Vimentin expression in the in the TGF-β1 individual treatment group was significantly increased and the E-cadherin expression was significantly decreased.Furthermore,compared with the TGF-β1 individual treatment group and control group,the Vimentin expression level in the TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) + cinobufacini (2.5,5 mg/mL) groups was significantly decreased and E-cadherin expression was significantly increased.Conclusion Cinobufacini can inhibit TGF-β1-induced cell proliferation in human colorectal carcinoma SW480 cells,and its mechanism may be related with promoting E-cadherin expression increase,meanwhile decreasing the vimentin expression,thus inhibiting the EMT process induced by TGF-β1.

ObjectiveTo investigate the biological significance and mechanism of VEGF-C in esophageal tumor development,and correlation of CNTN-1 level with VEGF-C.MethodsThe expression of VEGF-C and its receptors in esophageal squamous cancer cell (ESCC) and in corresponding noncancerous esophageal tissue specimens were detected by real-tithe PCR.Esophageal squamous cancer cell line TE-1 was transinfected by VEGF-C overexpression and gene silencing vectors,respectively,and the relative amount of C/EBP bound to CNTN-1 promoter was determined by quantitative ChIP,to explore the possibility that VEGF-C was involved in development of esophageal cancer through mediating transcription of CNTN-1.ResultsThe mRNA levels of VEGF-C was significantly higher in ESCC than in normal esophageal tissues.VEGF-C expression was significantly increased in VEGF-C-overexpressing TE-1 cells compared to untransfected cells (mock).Cells transfected with either of the VEGF-C targeting shRNA vectors,shRNA-1 and shRNA-2,showed reduced VEGF-C transcripts (P ＜ 0.01 ).Expression levels of VEGF-C and CNTN-1 mRNA correlated significantly with each other.The binding site of C/EBP in CNTN-1 was detected by ChIP,and the relative amount of C/EBP binding to CNTN-1 promoter was significantly increased in TE-1 after transfecting by VEGF-C overexpression vector ( P ＜ 0.05).ConclusionVEGF-C and its receptor are highly expressed in esophageal cancer tissues,which may be associated with ESCC carcinogenesis and development.VEGF-C may influence on growth and migration in TE-1 cells through CNTN-1.
