In this paper, the effects of SFPS on red blood cell immune function of P388mice is presented. The results suggest that SFPS' enhancing the immune function of red blood cells of P388 mice may be related to decreasing the content of LPO of red blood cell membranes inhibiting the formation of HMP by protein of red blood cell membranes and systolic protein, increasing the sealing degree of red bold cell menbranes and the content of sialic acid and enhancing the activities of SOD, CAT, and Na+, K+-ATPase of red blood cell membranes.

A new and effective method to produce transgenic animals was established. Without a surgical incision, the recombinant plasmid containing green fluorescence protein (GFP) cDNA was repeatedly injected into male mouse testis at multi-sites. After few weeks of the final injection, the injected male was mated with normal oestrus female to produce transgenic mice. The presence of the GFP cDNA in F1 transgenic individuals were detected by polymerase chain reaction and Southern blot hybridization, which showed that the transgenic rate of mouse F1 offspring was 41%. The transferred gene was integrated into the host genome and could be transmitted to its offspring. When the positive F1 individuals were mated with the wild type ICR mice, the F2 individuals had a transgenic rate of 37%. The results indicate that the high efficiency of gene transfer and the limited number of manipulations make the method suitable for creating a large number of transgenic animals, especially, for producing domestic animals.

BACKGROUND: Defatting is to reduce the special cell surface antigens by clearing fat and lipoprotein, so as to decrease immunological rejection, improve the biocompatibility of allograft bone, and increase osteogenic potential. However, the effect of defatting on biomechanical performance of bone remains controversial.OBJECTIVE: To explore the influence of defatting on the biomechanics of bovine cortical bone samples.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Randomized, self-controlled observation was performed in Futian People's Hospital of Guangdong Medical College between 2006 and 2008.MATERIALS: Eight pairs of healthy adult bovine femora were used. Bone blocks, 50 mm long and 10 mm wide, were selected from each pair of femora, and burnished into 24 pairs of 7 mm×7 mm×40 mm rectangular bovine cortical bone samples.METHODS: The 24 pairs of cortical bone samples were randomly divided into two groups (n=12). One of each pair was selected as test group sample, and the other as control group sample. The samples of test group were defatted In 500 mL chloroform and methanol mixture (1:1) for 24 hours, while control samples were immerged in deionized water for 24 hours. Six samples from each group were selected for axial compressive test and three-point bending test.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Load and deflection of every sample.RESULTS: Axial compressive test showed that the maximum load and the maximum strain of defatted samples were significantly decreased compared with control group, but the fragility and elastic modulus were increased (P < 0.05). In three-point bending test, the maximum load and the maximum stress of defatted sampled were significantly decreased, the maximum deflection was decreased, and the elastic modulus was increased (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: The mechanical strength of cortical bone decreased but the fragility increased after defatting.

Objective To discuss the application of C-arm CT scanning technology in performing transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for hepatic cancer. Methods Seventy-seven patients of hepatic cancer were treated with selective transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE),which was followed by C-arm CT scanning to observe the embolization effect.C-arm CT scanning was also performed before TACE in 13 cases.Three-dimension reconstruction of the images was carried out on Integris 3D-RA workstation. The therapeutic results were evaluated. Results The embolization state of both the peripheral margin and the body of the tumor could be clearly displayed on CT scans in all 77 patients. Some tiny liver lesions were also detected in 3cases.Conclusion C-arm CT scanning technology is a newly-developed high-tech examination. This examination is very helpful for making the proper operation scheme and for evaluating the curative effect of intravascular intervention.Compared to the traditional CT scanning,C-arm CT scanning can provide more accurate information and stereoscopic image of the lesions, therefore, the whole course of the interventional procedure can be entirely under the operator's control and the curative effect can be evaluated at any time during the operation.C-arm CT scanning can be effectively employed in interventional therapy for multisystemic disorders.

Objective To investigate the relationship of high sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6)and soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R)with the severity of clinical symptoms and coronary artery lesions in coronary heart disease (CHD)patients. Methods A total of 522 CHD patients were recruited and divided into three groups:stable angina pectoris (SAP),unstable angina pectoris (UAP)and acute myocardial infarction (AMI)groups.Another 102 healthy individuals served as normal controls (NCs).We calculated Gensini score according to the result of coronary angiography (CAG),collected clinical data and compared the groups. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to investigate the relationship of hs-CRP,IL-6 and sIL-6 R with Gensini score. Results The plasma hs-CRP,IL-6 levels were significantly higher and sIL-6R level was signficantly lower in SAP,UAP and AMI groups than in NC group (P<0 .0 5 ).There was a positive correlation between IL-6 level and Gensini score but a negative correlation between sIL-6 R and Gensini score presented by multiple linear regression analysis (P<0.05 ).Conclusion In CHD patients, plasma hs-CRP,IL-6 and sIL-6R levels are significantly related to the severity of clinical manifestations and coronary artery stenosis. These indicators may help predict the severity of CHD.
