Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate(STS)in the treatment of ad-vanced schistosomiasis. Methods Fifty cases with advanced schistosomiasis admitted to the Touzao Township Hospital of Dong-tai City during the period from November 2012 to November 2013 were treated with STS for 10 days, and the internal diameter of the portal vein, levels of ALT,AST,γ-GT,PIIIP,CIV,HA and LN were measured and compared before and after the adminis-tration of STS. Results The mean levels of all serological parameters except HA were within the normal range before STS treat-ment,while the highest positive rate was detected inγ-GT(26.0%)and HA(54.0%). Following the STS treatment, the mean lev-els of all parameters and the positive rates reduced, with the greatest reduction observed inγ-GT(36.7%)and HA(37.8%);how-ever,the mean HA level was still higher than the normal range. The mean internal diameter of the portal vein reduced from(10.5± 1.7)mm before the STS treatment to(9.8±1.3)mm after the STS administration, with a significant diffrtence(P<0.05). Conclu-sion STS appears effective in the treatment of advanced schistosomiasis.

Chinese Medical Ethics 1995;0(04):-
With the development of modern medicine,to see a doctor is no longer a simple process of diagnosis or taking drugs.Human have deeply recognized medical science and health from a simple biomedical model to a social, psychological and biomedical model. On the one hand, people seek help from medical science. On the other hand, people fear that malpractice could occur. It has been in a love-hate mentality for people to seek medical and legal relief. In the new era,physician-patient relationship needs to be recognized again from medical staff, patients and legal angles. The combination of medicine and law is the requirement of development of the times. No matter how strong the law is,and no matter how much we hope the legislation is from strength to strength, moderation is still the virtues of the law.Medical perspective is still required in the examination of medical activity.

: ObjectiveTo compare the clinical significance of motor unit number estimates (MUNE) and conventional electromyogram (EMG) in the evaluation of neuromuscular disorders. MethodsUnder the model of MUNE or quantity of motor unit potential (QMUP), 53 patients with various neurogenic disorders were tested with EMG at extensor digitorum brevis, thenar, or hypothenar eminence. ResultsFor 8 patients with amyotrophic lateralizing sclerosis, large and long-duration polyphasic potentials were detected in needle electrode EMG tests, and the motor unit numbers reduced. For 45 patients with peripheral neuropathies, few distinctive features could not be detected by needle electrode EMG, but motor unit numbers reduced in 2 patients; spontaneous activities were the only abnormality in the other 2 patients, and there were no obviously abnormal changes in the configuration and size of motor unit potentials and in motor unit numbers; EMG tests revealed neurogenic features and motor unit numbers significantly reduced in the remaining 41 patients. ConclusionConventional EMG and MUNE can work for the diagnosis of neuromuscular disorders, and do better in combination.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2015;39(6):432-436
The forced oscillation technique (FOT) is a noninvasive method for respiratory mechanics measurement. For the FOT, external signals (e.g. forced oscillations around 4-40 Hz) are used to drive the respiratory system, and the mechanical characteristic of the respiratory system can be determined with the linear system identification theory. Thus, respiratory mechanical properties and components at different frequency and location of the airway can be explored by specifically developed forcing waveforms. In this paper, the theory, methodology and clinical application of the FOT is reviewed, including measure ment theory, driving signals, models of respiratory system, algorithm for impedance identification, and requirement on apparatus. Finally, the future development of this technique is also discussed.

BACKGROUND:Traditional bladder repair methods have many problems such as damage to normal organ function and many postoperative complications. Tissue engineering technology provides a new way for bladder repair.
OBJECTIVE:To explore the feasibility of constructing tissue-engineered bladder with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) nanoparticle-bacterial celulose (BC) composite scaffold with rabbit lingual epithelial cels andtonguemuscle cels.
METHODS:Rabbit lingual epithelial cels andmuscle cels were successively implanted onto the BC scaffold (control group) and VEGF-BC scaffold (experimental group). Six rabbits were taken to make bladder defect models and randomized into two groups: experimental group implanted with VEGF-BC scaffold carrying autologous lingual epithelial cels andtonguemuscle cels, and control group implanted with BC scaffold carrying autologous lingual epithelial cels andtonguemuscle cels. Specimens were taken from the two groups for urographic evaluation and histological examination at 3 months after implantation. Meanwhile, the urodynamic tests were performed.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The experimental group showed the relatively complete bladder, and the control group showed a smal-area filing defect of the bladder. The maximum bladder capacity and bladder compliance in both two groups were decreased after implantation, especialy significantly in the control group (P< 0.05). In the control group, it failed to build a complete epithelial cel layer, and the muscle layer and microvessels were formed a little. In the experimental group, the complete epithelial cel layer was formed, and a larger amount of muscle layers and capilaries appeared. These findings indicate that the VEGF-BC scaffold carrying lingual epithelial cels andtonguemuscle cels can be used to construct thetissue-engineered bladder.
