International Eye Science 2014;(9):1644-1645
To explore the changes of retrobulbar hemodynamics in diabetes via color doppler ultrasound.
●METHODS: Totally 80 patients ( 160 eyes ) with eye diseases in type 2 diabetes from June 2010 to May 2013 in our hospital were enrolled as research group. By fundus photography and direct ophthalmoscopy, patients were assigned to diabetes without retinopathy group ( DNR subgroup), non- proliferative diabetic retinopathy group (NPDR subgroup) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy group (PDR subgroup). Of 60 healthy patients (120 eyes) over the same period were chosen as control group. The doppler parameters of central retinal artery ( CRA ), posterior ciliary artery (PCA) and ophthalmic artery (OA) were measured.
●RESULTS: There were significant differences on circulatory parameters of CRA, PCA and OA between both groups ( P < 0. 05 ). Significant differences were also observed on peak systolic velocity ( PSV), end diastolic velocity ( EDV) and resistance index ( Rl) of CRA, PCA and OA among DNR subgroup, NPDR subgroup and PDR subgroup ( P < 0. 05). The EDV, Rl and PSV of control group differed from those of DNR subgroup, NPDR subgroup and PDR subgroup (P<0. 05).
●CONCLUSlON: The monitoring of retinal blood flow and analysis of blood spectrum morphology via color doppler ultrasound can effectively evaluate the degree of diabetic retinopathy lesions, especially before DR vascular disease. Early detection can reveal the hemodynamic change pattern of DR, facilitating the prevention of diabetic eye complications and improvement of the quality of life.

World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2013;(5):848-851
The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) literature database of jaundice is an important means of the realization of the standardization and digitalization of TCM liver disease syndrome differentiation and treatment.
This article analyzed the background of jaundice literature database and its establishment and significance . The building of TCM jaundice database was described in this paper from literature data source, TCM jaundice the-saurus, literature collection and analysis. A brief introduction was made on contents of the database and the function. Deficiencies of the literature database such as the standardization, quality, daily maintenance, talent and team training were also explained .

Objective To investigate the effects of heparin coating on intimal hyperplasia in implanted decellularized xenografts. Methods The resected canie carotid arteries were decellularized, and heparin coating was partially performed.Eighteen rabbits were divided into non-heparin-coated group(n=9)and heparin-coated group(n=9).During implantation, only the left carotid between the anastomotic stoma was ligated.Doppler ultrasonography was performed 1,3 and 12 weeks post-implantation to measure the luminal diameter, and the hemodynamic parameters such as PSV,RI and PI were calculated. All animals were sacrificed, histological observations were conducted at 12 weeks post-implantation,and I/(I+ M)was calculated. Results Except for 1 week post-implantation in the ligated side, the luminal diameters in non-heparin -coated group were significantly smaller than that of pre-implantation.Besides,those of the non-ligated side at each time points were significantly smaller than the ligated side(P

Objective To investigate the influencing factors for knowledge, attitude and practice(KAP)of the Three-manager mode about hierarchical medical system of Chronic diseases of the community residents in Xiamen, and provide references for the implementation of hierarchical medical system. Methods Multi-stage random sampling method was adopted, and 400 residents were randomly sampled from 5 communities of Xiamen for questionnaire survey. The survey features the dependent variable of the community residents′ knowing and joining-in the Three-manager mode, the internal factors(social demographic characteristics),and the external factors(medical expenditure and healthcare insurance). On such basis, four logistic regression models were built for analysis of such influencing factors. Results 41.10% of the surveyed were aware of the Three-manager mode, and 39.71% of the hypertension/diabetes patients among them joined in the hypertension network or diabetes network.Age,education, medical expenditure and referral experiences were significant influencing factors for KAP level of the Three-manager mode, while the residents of older age, higher education and referral experiences were high in their KAP;those of lower per capita monthly income, hypertension or diabetes, with coverage of medical insurance and satisfied with medical consultation in community were high in their awareness of Three-manager mode. Conclusions The KAP level of Three-manager mode of the community residents in Xiamen is acceptable, yet expected of further improvement.Room of further improvement includes enhancement of synergy of the Three-manager mode, enhanced motivation of government financial support and medical insurance, better service functions of community institutions, and especially the construction of hierarchical medical system.

ObjectiveTo analyze the clinical characteristics and treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).MethodsDuring epidemic period of SARS,all suspected patients were isolated and treated at very early stage. Clinical symptoms, signs and changes of the chest film were observed carefully to make early diagnosis and begin early intervention. 14 SARS cases with definite diagnosis were treated by Western Medicine combined with Chinese Traditional Medicine.3 cases of them with severe type were treated by timely technical ventilation, which was nasotracheal intubition guided with fibronchoscope, with the principle of low tide volume and high PEEP to improve oxygen combination.ResultsAll patients were cured to discharge. Only two cases of mild pulmonary fibrosis were found after 2 months' follow-up. None of the medical workers taking part in rescuing and treating SARS patients and none of the family members of the patients were infected.ConclusionDuring SARS epidemic period, early isolation, early diagnosis, early combined treatment of Western Medicine and Chinese Traditional Medicine, and prompt technical ventilation intervention on severe cases are important factors to successfully rescue and treat SARS patients.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of transcription factors (TF) T-bet and GATA-3 mRNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and its correlation with immune status in esophageal cancer patients.
METHODSSixty patients were divided into two groups according to the clinical data: group A consisting of stage I and II, group B including stage III and IV. The gene expression of T-bet and GATA-3 in 60 esophageal cancer patients and 30 healthy controls was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The expression of IFN-gamma and IL-4 was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
RESULTSExpression of T-bet mRNA in esophageal cancer patients (stage I and II: 0.27 +/- 0.05 ng/L, stage III and IV: 0.12 +/- 0.02 ng/L) was significantly lower than that in the healthy controls (1.35 +/- 0.14 ng/L), but the expression of GATA-3 mRNA in esophageal cancer patients (stage I and II: 0.45 +/- 0.06, stage III and IV: 0.55 +/- 0.03) was significantly higher than that in the healthy controls (0.09 +/- 0.10). The plasma level of Th1 cytokine IFN-gamma in the patients [stage I and II: (12.12 +/- 1.48) ng/L, stage III and IV: (8.44 +/- 0.90) ng/L] was significantly lower than that in the healthy controls, while the level of Th2 cytokine IL-4 in the patients [stage I and II: (18.64 +/- 0.77) ng/L, stage III and IV: (25.28 +/- 2.02) ng/L] was significantly higher than that in the healthy controls. However, neither in the expression of T-bet and GATA-3, nor in the plasma level of IFN-gamma and IL-4, showed a significant difference between group A and B.
CONCLUSIONIn the peripheral blood of esophageal cancer patients, the expression of T-bet decreased, while GATA-3 increased, Th1/Th2 balance is broken, and the Th2 is dominant. T-bet and GATA-3 play a part role in the regulation of Th1/Th2 balance.
