1.Details matter in visual outcomes of multifocal intraocular lens implantation
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2013;(4):313-315
The broad application of phacoemulsification and multifocal intraocular lens (MIOL)implantation have been raising concern in postoperative visual outcomes due to the innate shortage of MIOL in design, which will probably results in the decline contrast sensitivity or/and some abnormal optical symptoms following the surgery.Optimizing visual outcomes of MIOL implantation and controlling adverse effects has been become the issue of focus for ophthalmologists, which is being discussed in details,e.g.patient selection, preparation of surgery, surgical techniques, etc.,in the following monograph.

Herald of Medicine 2014;(5):653-657
Objective To authenticate Euryales semen collected from seventeen regions by NIR fingerprint spectra and to establish a rapid analysis method. Methods Spectra were collected by VARIAN CARY5000 ultraviolet visible near infrared spectrophotometer, with correlation and origin clustering method for analysis by using Origin 7. 5 and SPSS 18. 0 software. Results The correlation of peaks for Euryales semen from 17 localities were significant, while the regions were distinguished clearly. Conclusion It is indicated that the method is rapid, lossless, and it can be applied to authenticate Euryales from different regions, which provides reference to rapid inspection of Chinese medicines.

International Eye Science 2016;16(8):1584-1587
Abstract?AIM:To evaluate the effect of combined glaucoma and cataract surgery on the function of eye surface and tear film.?METHODS:This clinical trial involved 75 patients ( 75 eyes ) with glaucoma complicated with cataract undergoing combined glaucoma and cataract surgery. All the eyes were divided into surgical group ( the eyes undergoing operation ) and control group ( the other eyes). The symptoms and signs of dry eye disease, Schirmer's I test, break -up time ( BUT ) , corneal fluorescein staining were tested and marked 1mo after operation.Comparison of the results was made between two groups.?RESULTS:The average intraocular pressure was 16.25± 0.46mmHg at 1mo after operation, compared with 45.29± 4.39mmHg at 3d before surgery, the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05 ).Preoperative average visual acuity was 0.08±0.06, corrected visual acuity was<0.05 in 23 eyes,≥0.05 to<0.1 in 16 eyes,≥0.1 to<0.3 in 36 eyes.Postoperatively 1mo, corrected visual acuity:<0. 05 for 7 eyes (9%),≥0.05 to <0.1 for 11 eyes (15%), ≥0.1 to<0.3 for 38 eyes (51%), ≥0.3 to <0.5 for 11 eyes (15%) , ≥0.5 for 8 eyes (11%), postoperative visual acuity was 0.15 ±0.1, which was significantly higher than before surgeries ( P<0.05).The postoperative dry eye symptoms of surgical group was higher, compared with that of control group, and the differences of diagnosis of dry eye test indicators between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).? CONCLUSION: Combined cataract and glaucoma surgery may affect postoperative ocular surface and tear film function, make the tear film stability damaged and lead to dry eye disease.

China Pharmacy 2015;(24):3403-3405,3406
OBJECTIVE:To analyze the content of water-soluble proteins in Euryale ferox from different regions. METHODS:The water-soluble proteins in E. ferox were extracted by cryogenic grinding. With the reference of bovine albumin,Coomassie bril-liant blue G-250 was used for coloration, visible spectrophotometry was conducted to determine the content of water-soluble pro-teins in E. ferox from different regions and clustering analysis was used to analyze the results. RESULTS:The linear range of bo-vine albumin was 0.005 01-0.150 3 mg/ml(r=0.999 2)with the average recovery of 98.95%(RSD=1.76%,n=6).RSDs of preci-sion,stability and reproducibility tests were no more than 2.04%. The average value of content of water-soluble proteins in samples was 0.457 7 mg/g. Cluster analysis showed that the content of water-soluble proteins in E. ferox from Yangtze River basin was high-er,followed by the southward and the northward was the least. CONCLUSIONS:The method is simple, reliable and reproducible, and suitable for the content determination of water-soluble proteins in E. ferox.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2013;(30):5563-5568
BACKGROUND:There are stil about 10%-30%of patients presenting no obvious improvement of symptoms after lumbar disc herniation surgery, which are col ectively known as the lumbar spine post-surgery failure syndrome, and lumbar instability is one of the important reasons. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of surgery including posterior lumbar spinal canal decompression, intervertebral disc resection, lumbar interbody fusion, and pedicle screw fixation on lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion concurring lumbar instability via MAST Quadrant retractor. METHODS:From December 2011 to October 2012, 62 cases of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion concurring lumbar instability were treated with posterior lumbar spinal canal decompression, intervertebral disc resection, lumbar interbody fusion, and pedicle screw fixation via MAST Quadrant retractor. There were 38 female and 24 male ranging in age from 37 to 69 years (average 53.7 years). After operation, al patients were fol owed-up to evaluate the effect of the treatment. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The operative time was 90-210 minutes, average 145 minutes, and the amount of blood loss was 50-300 mL, average 120 mL. The hospitalization time was 5-9 days, average 6 days. Al incisions healed by first intention. Al patients were fol owed up 7.2 months on average (from 3 to 10 months). The preoperative JOA score was (10.25±2.34) points. The postoperative JOA score decreased to (18.31±3.12) points at the fol ow-up after 1 month and (25.35±2.61) points at the last fol ow-up, showing significant difference when compared with preoperative score (P<0.01). The preoperative VAS score was (8.24±1.15) points. The postoperative VAS score decreased to (2.97±1.12) points after 1 month and (1.13±0.39) points at the last fol ow-up, showing significant difference when compared with preoperative score (P<0.01). According to reforming Macnab standard, the results were excel ent in 53 cases and good in 9 cases at the last fol ow-up. The surgery including posterior lumbar spinal canal decompression, intervertebral disc resection, lumbar interbody fusion, and pedicle screw fixation via MAST Quadrant retractor is a safe, effective and minimal y invasive surgical technique in treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion concurring lumbar instability.
