Objective To investigate the effects of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on the growth of human pancreatic cancer cell lines. Methods Human pancreatic cancer cell lines Patu8988 and SW1990 were treated with DHA. The cell proliferation was evaluated by MTT assay. Cell cycle, apoptosis, and cyclooxygenase-2 ex-pression were evaluated by flow cytometry. Results After incubation of pancreatic cancer cell with DHA for 24 to 72 hours, cell proliferation significantly decreased (P<0. 01) and apoptosis increased, both of which were time- dependent and dose-dependent After incubation with 50μg/ml DHA for 24 hours, cyclooxygenase-2 expression of pancreatic cancer cell lines significantly decreased (P < 0. 05). Conclusions DHA can inhibit the growth of hu- man pancreatic cancer cells via decreasing cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis. These effects may be associat- ed with the decrease of cyclooxygenase-2 expression.

Objective To apply doctor-patient communication model to improve students doctor-patient communication, and to raise medical quality. Methods 200 patients were allocated to observation group and control group randomly. In the observation group, we applied doctor-patient communication model,the other with common education schema. In order to appraise clinic effect,60 students were allocated to observation group and control group randomly. Objective To develop a PCR-SSP method for detection of HLA-DRB1 alleles in the patients who were hypersensitive to Platanus Acerifolia pollen allergen,and to probe into the association between the atopic subjects to Platanus Acerifolia pollen allergen and HLA-DRB1 alleles.Methods DNA in whole blood was extracted by phenol-chloroform method.Eight pairs of specific primers for alleles were synthesized,and HLA-DRB1*0401,*0402,*0403,*0404,*0405,*0406,*0407,*0408 alleles in 20 atopic patients and 36 healthy individuals of Jiangsu Province with Han nationality were detected by PCR-SSP(polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primer).Results By optimizing the experimental conditions PCR-SSP methods for detection of the 8 alleles were established and the distributing data of above-mentioned HLA DRB1 were obtained.The frequency of HLA DRB1*0405 and *0406 in the patients group was higher than that of in healthy controls group,while the frequency of HLA DRB1*0402 in the patients group was lower than that in controls.No significant deference for the other 5 alleles was found between the 2 groups.Conclusion HLA-DRB1*0406和*0405 seems to be the likely suspected candidate alleles responsible for susceptibility to Platanus Acerifolia pollen allergen in the atopic patients,while DRB1*0402 might be contribute to the related resistance to the allergen.

Eight 1,6-O,O-diacetylbritannilactone (OABL) derivatives (compounds 1-8) were synthesized by esterification or reduction of 1-O-diacetylbritannilactone (ABL) isolated from Inula japonica.All derivatives were evaluated for their anti-inflammation activities through the determination of inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced macrophages.As results,compounds 5-8 (IC50 ＜ 2 μmol/L) exhibited more potent inhibition of NO production activities than the lead compound OABL.

Objective To learn the control status of iodine deficiency disorders in Baoji City of Shaanxi Province.Methods From 2009 to 2011,according to the National Iodized Salt Monitoring Program,the iodized salt was monitored,and thyroid was examined in 12 counties(areas) of Baoji City.According to rural and urban area stratification,60 children aged 8 to 10 were selected in each county(district),and their urine samples were collected for determination of iodine content.In 2011,per capita daily salt intake was surveyed by the three weighing method at children's home whose urine was collected.Chencang Area,Fufeng County and Taibai County,representatives of Baoji City different geomorphic features were selected for investigation of water iodine,and urinary iodine of pregnant and lactating women,and 15 people were selected in each county (district).Results From 2009-2011,in the 12 counties(areas) in Baoji City,the coverage rate of iodized salt was all 100.00％(3468/3468); the qualified rate of iodized salt and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt were all ＞ 99.00％.Children's goiter rate was 3.41％(87/2548),3.06％(77/2520) and 3.33％(84/2520),and they were all less than that of the national standard (＜ 5％).Medians of urinary iodine of 8-10 years old children were 368.20,293.80 and 332.50 μg/L,respectively,and the ratios of urine iodine ≥300 μg/L were accounted for 66.42％ (797/1200),48.05％(692/1440) and 56.67％(816/1440),respectively.Median urinary iodine of pregnant women was 301.81 μg/L and lactating women was 329.79 μg/L.A total of 1116 households were investigated,the median of per capita daily salt intake was 8.9 g.Eighteen water samples were collected,range of water iodine value were 0.60-10.25 μg/L.Conclusions Iodine nutrition in general population of Baoji City is exceeded the optimum level,and the current iodized salt concentration has some down space,but fully consideration should be taken on iodine needs in different iodine deficiency areas and among different groups of people.

Objective To investigate the diagnosis,preoperative examination and surgical treatment of carotid body tumor(CBT).Methods From December 2008 to December 2012 80 patients of carotid body tumor were treated in our center.The average age was(43:±:12)years,33 cases were male,47 cases were female.The lesions were unilateral in 68 cases and bilateral in 12.All tumors were surgically resected.In 26 of Shamblin Ⅰ,32 of Shamblin Ⅱ and 19 of Shamblin Ⅲ tumors were simply resected.One Shamblin Ⅱ and 2 Shamblin Ⅲ cases underwent tumor resection combined with external carotid embolization.3 Shamblin Ⅱ and 8 Shamblin Ⅲ cases were treated by tumor resection combined with internal carotid reconstruction,1 Shamblin Ⅲ was done with tumor resection combined internal carotid repair.Results All of 80 patients with 92 tumors were successfully resected.There was no death case during peroperative period,while one case developed hemiplegia and 14 cases suffered cranial nerve injuries.68 cases (85％) were followed-up from 1 year to 6 years.Thera were 14 patients with cranial nerve injuries,2 of them were lost to follow-up,11 with complete or partial recovery and 1 was still doing poorly.Conclusions Tumor size and its relation to the carotid artery form the basis upon which appropriate operation is adopted.

Objective To analyze the bibliometry of the literature of acupoint thread-embedding in treating simple obesity, and to provide references for clinic.Method By both computer and manual retrieval, the relevant literatures over the past 30 years were collected from the Chinese Journal Full-text Database (CJFD), Vip database, WanFang database. By using the SPSS 17.0 software for statistical analysis, the distribution (province or city), publication year, and journal of the literatures, supporting fund, sample size, research method, material of the thread, use frequency of the involved acupoints, and the meridians of the selected acupoints were summarized.Result The included eligible 175 articles were distributed over many provinces and cities; the publication amount had been increasing year by year; there was a variety of thread materials; the literature with supporting funds only occupied a small percentage, while the research with a small sample size occupied a comparatively large percentage, and the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) also had a small percentage.Conclusion As a common Chinese external therapy in treating simple obesity, acupoint thread-embedding has been paid more and more attention for its practical value and bright future. However, the relevant governmental department hasn’t paid enough attention to this therapy, and the low clinical research quality also makes it difficult to scientifically evaluate its clinical efficacy and safety. Therefore, more attention is required, RCTs of multicenter and large sample size are expected, and clinical research quality also needs improvement, to provide references for clinic.

Effects of mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS) on the growth of Lactobacillus were investigated by pure culture of three swine originated Lactobacillus strains or co-culture with swine pathogenic E. coli. The pure culture results revealed that OD values and lactic acid concentration of three Lactobacillus strains in the MOS supplemented cultures were higher than those of the control group without MOS supplementation, a lower pH was observed for MOS supplement compared with that of the control group. Objective To establish the athrmic inouse model of breast cancer in normal position and imitated metastatic breast cancer. Methods Breast cancer cells MDA-MB-231-luc carrying luciferase gene was injected into the athymie mice.The optieal imaging in vivo system was used to observe the establislament of the model. Reseults The breast tumor emerged after we planted the MDA-MB-231-lue cells in the mammary gland fatpads,the volume and photon of the tumor increased during the second weekto the fifth week.After injection by the tail vein,the tumors mainly located in the lungs While after infusion in the left alrtrium.the tumolrs metastate to all over the body. Conclusions We succeeded in the establishment of the athymic mice model of breast cancer.in situ and imitated metastatic breast cancer by iniection into the vena caudalis and the left alttrium.The optical imaging in vivo system could distinctly show the formation of the tumors.
