Objective To study the effect and mechanism of increase in radio sensitivity of kidney cancer cells(GRC-1) induced by ?-elemenen in vitro. Methods GRC-1 cells were divided into 3 groups, blank group (added with 2 mL culture medium), emulsion group (added with 2 mL blank emulsion culture medium) and drug group (added with 2 mL 50 mg?L -1 ?-elemenen culture medium). After been cultivated for 24 hours, the cells were irradiated using 6MeV X-linear accelerator in different doses at the rate of 400cGy per minute. Number of cell clones was counted, and radiation-survival curve of GRC-1 cells was drawn. Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to measure cell cycle and apoptosis. Cells of climbing flake were dyed by immunocytochemical method, the gene expression of bcl-2 and PCNA was measured by imaging system. Results The cell cycle showed that the G 2M blocking caused by 50 mg?L -1 ?-elemenen was enhanced with time increase. It reached peak at 24 hours. FCM showed that the level of apoptosis increased with increase in drug dose and action time. The gene expression of bcl-2 was decreased by 20% in drug group than that in blank group, but there was no expression of PCNA in the two groups. Conclusion The radiosensitivity of GRC-1 cells can be enhanced by ?-elemenen. The mechanism of effect may be associated with the cell cycle blocking, inducing cell apoptosis and down-regulating expression of bcl-2 gene.

[Objective]To compare the differences of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder(NMOSD)and multiple sclerosis (MS) on pregnancy ,and analyze the mutual impact of pregnancy on the diseases.[Methods]Prospectively collected clinical information of 235 NMOSD patients and 125 MS patients ,including the annualized relapse rate (ARR),the Expanded Disability Status Scale(EDSS)and pregnancy outcomes. 70 NMOSD patients and 30 MS patients were screened out as information patients. The ARR and EDSS score in two groups were compared during the year before pregnancy, during pregnancy and after 1 year postpartum, respectively. 50 cases of normal pregnant women for the same period as the control group ,then to compared the difference of three groups on pregnancy outcomes.[Results]Attacks occurring during pregnancy or one year after childbirth/abortion in NMOSD and MS were 53.25%(41/77)and 20.00%(7/35)(P=0.001);The ARR during the first 3 months postpartum periods of NMOSD and MS group(2.65,2.51)was significantly higher than during the year before pregnancy(0.27,0.49,P < 0.001)and during pregnancy (0.32,0.2,P<0.001);The EDSS score of two groups increased after 1 year postpartum(3.06 ± 2.16,2.19 ± 1.28)than that during the year before pregnancy(1.58 ± 0.48,1.92 ± 1.29,P < 0.001)and during pregnancy(1.92 ± 1.35,1.67 ± 0.70,P < 0.001). There was no difference on ARR and EDSS score between NMOSD and MS group. NMOSD ,MS and normal control group had no dif?ference on pregnancy outcomes and neonatal weight.[Conclusions]Compared with MS,the attack of NMOSD had more closer relation?ship with pregnancy;both NMOSD and MS would increase the risk of disease relapsing and disability after pregnancy;the diseases had no effect on pregnancy outcomes.

To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of compound Danshen injection in treating hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) of newborns. Computer retrievals were made in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CBM, CNKI, VIP and China info (before May 2014) and relevant literature references, and manual retrievals were made for journals and conference papers, in order to collect randomized or semi-randomized controlled trials concerning compound Danshen injection in the treatment of neonatal HIE. The quality of included references was evaluated according to literatures recommended by Cochrane Handbook. RevMan 5. 3 software was applied in the statistical treatment. Finally, a total of 13 randomized controlled trials were included, covering 1,211 patients (including 639 patients in the compound Danshen injection-treated group and 572 patients in the control group). Meta-analysis results showed that the routine treatment combined with compound Danshen injection can improve the treatment efficiency of neonatal HIE [RR = 1.28; 95% CI (1.21-1.36)], reduce the mortality rate [RR = 0.42; 95% CI (0.23-0.75)] and the incidence of long-term neurological sequelae [RR = 0.48; 95% CI (0.35-0.65)], with statistical differences. No fatal side effect was observed in all of included trials. So far, limited evidences in this study proved that the application of compound Danshen injection in the treatment of neonatal HIE can enhance the clinical efficiency. However, because of the low quality of the included trials, more well-designed and large-scale multi-center randomized controlled trials shall be made in the future.

Objective To discuss the experience in the diagnosis, treatment, complications and follow up of carotid body tumor. Methods All the 25 cases were diagnosised by DSA and CTA. The tumor was resected under carotid adventitial plane in 18 cases, with external carotid artery resection in 4cases, and in 3 cases, internal carotid artery (ICA) and external carotid artery (ECA) were resected simultaneously in which internal carotid artery was reconstructed in two cases including using self vein bypass in one and anastomosis between ICA and ECA in the other. ICA was ligated in the third case. Results No cases died perioperatively. ALL CBTs were treated successfully. Horner syndrome and trachyphonia were relieved after operation. Postoperative trachyphonia, bucking and lingual paralysis developed in 3 cases, and in one case with vagus resection caused dyspnea tracheotomy was performed. The rate of nerves injuries was 12% but no semiplegia and aphasia occurred. Follow up period was from 4 to 90 months (average 44 ±6 months) for 21 cases. The trachyphonia and bucking were improved during follow up but the lingual paralysis persists, and tumor recurred in two cases with one dying. Conclusions CBT treatment should include active surgery, sufficient preoperative preparation and avoiding the postoperative nervous complications.
