Objective To investigate the risk of permanent hair dye use for connective tissue disease ( CTD ) with positive antinuclear antibodies ( ANA ).Methods We conducted a population-based case-control study to analyze 440 CTD patients from the department of our hospital.Four hundreds and forty patients' relatives or friends who were free from any CTD were selected as controls.Patients and controls were matched in sex and age.A face-to-face interview was adopted to finish questionnaires about subjects' demographic data and the use of permanent hair dye.Data about the duration,frequency,times of usage and allergy related to hair dye were collected.Medical history was also reviewed,such as the diagnosis,disease course,primary symptoms,serum tests and organ involvements.Statistical analysis was performed by SPSS 17.0 software using x2 test and Logistic regression.Results The association between the use of permanent hair dye and CTD did not reach statistical significance (OR=1.282,95％CI 0.966-1.700,P=0.085 ),when the relationship of hair dye use with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) was tested,the same result (OR=1.092,95％CI 0.795-1.500,P=0.587 ) could be revealed.Conclusion This preliminary study has shown that the use of permanent hair dye couldn't induce the occurrence of CTD.

Objective To study the changes of anticoagulation and fibrinolysis in neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(NRDS).Methods The levels of plasma protein C(PC),total protein S(TPS),antithrombin Ⅲ(AT-Ⅲ), D-Dimer(D-D) and von Willebrand factor(vWF) were measured with ELSIA assay and immunoturbidimetry in 27 cases NRDS, 20 cases prematures and 15 cases full-term newborns as normal controls.Results The levels of PC, TPS and AT-Ⅲ were lower, but the levels of D-D and vWF were significantly higher than those of prematures and normal controls.The PC,TPS of prematures were lower than normal controls otherwise there is no difference of AT-Ⅲ,D-D,vWF between prematures and normal controls. Conclusions There exists the activation of anticoagulation and fibrinolysis and the injury of vascular endothelium in critical NRDS, and they are early sensitive indexes for the diagnosis of disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC).

Objective To study the partial laboratory detection indicators in the patients with abnormal cystatin C (Cys C) . Methods The relevant data in the patients of our hospital from August 2014 to February 2014 were collected and the partial labo‐ratory detection indicators were compared between the patients with normal Cys C and the patients with abnormal Cys C .Results Cys C had statistical difference between the kidney disease group and the control group (P<0 .05);Cys C had statistical difference between the abnormal Cys C group and the control group (P<0 .05) ,RBC ,Hb ,HCT (male ,female) in the abnormal Cys C group were lower than the reference ranges ;while GLU ,TP and Alb in the abnormal Cys C group were within the reference ranges ,but lower than those in the control group ,UA was higher than that in the control group with statistical difference (P<0 .05) .Conclu‐sion Certain degree of malnutrition exists in the patients with abnormal Cys C .

Objective:To describe the surgical technique of direct anterior approach to total hip arthroplasty and to report the early clinical outcomes.Methods: A series of 100 consecutive,unselected patients who had 116 primary total hip arthroplasty surgeries (16 bilateral) done through direct anterior approach from March 11 2015 to June 21 2016 was reviewed.There were 50 male patients and 50 female patients.The average patient age was 51 years,and the average body mass index was 24.69 kg/m2.The preoperative diagnosis included avascular necrosis of femoral head,hip osteoarthritis,osteoarthritis se-condary to acetabular dysplasia,sequelae of hip old infection,ankylosing spondylitis,rheumatoid arthritis and avascular necrosis of femoral head after cannulated screws fixation of femoral neck fracture.There were 7 hips which had surgical history prior to the index hip arthroplasty,including 3 cases with bone graft treatment for avascular necrosis of femoral head through Smith-Peterson approach,2 cases with acetabular shelf procedures for acetabular dysplasia through Smith-Peterson approach,and 2 cases with cannulated screws fixation for femoral neck fracture (internal fixation residual).All were uncemented hips.The stems used in this study included 67 Triloc stems (DePuy company,USA),45 Corail stems (DePuy company,USA),2 Accolade stems (Stryker company,USA),1 Synergy stem (Smith-Nephew company,USA) and 1 Polarstem (Smith-Nephew company,USA).Results: The average follow up period was 8.5 months,the average incision scar length was 10 cm,and the average postoperative Harris score was 93.62.There was 95％ postoperative leg length discrepancy within 3 mm.The average cup inclination angle was 38.7°with 94.8％ in the range of 30° to 50°.The average cup anteversion angle was 14.3° with 94.2％ within the target range of 5° to 25°.The were 15 (12.9％) operative complications,including two femoral perforations (changing stem from Triloc to Corail),three calcar fractures (treated with cerclage wires),four greater trochanter fractures (2 were treated wire tension band,and 2 nondisplaced fractures untreated),one deep infection (debridement and retaining of the prothesis),one superficial infection (debridement),one hematoma and three wound healing complications (debridement).All the complications were successfully treated without any sequelae at the end of the latest follow-up.There was no postoperative dislocation.There was no major nerve and vascular injuries.There were 35 cases (30.2％) reporting symptoms of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve palsy.Conclusion: Direct anterior approach to total hip arthroplasty allows accurate and reproducible cup orientation positioning and leg length restoration and decreases the risk of postoperative dislocation,which is helpful for early rapid postoperative recovery.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy of mini-incisional double-tsuge suture method with 0-0 absorbable polydioxanone-cord (PDS-Ⅱ)in repair of acute achilles tendon rupture.MethodsA total of 34 patients were subjected to acute closed achilles tendon ruptures,including 25 males and 9 females at a mean age of 32 years ( range,20-45 years).Injury causes included sports injuries in 27 patients,falling injuries in six and heavy object impingement injury in one.The time from injury to operation was average 3 days (range,1-6 days).All patients underwent minimally invasive repair with double-tsuge suture method by using PDS-Ⅱ.The ankle joint was fixed with short leg plaster cast at 30° plantar flexion position and the cast was removed six weeks later to take functional exercise.The patients could walk with full weight-bearing 8-10 weeks later and could gradually return to activity 3-4 months later.Results There was one patient with poor incision healing and one patient with reflex sympathetic dystrophy postoperatively.The rest patients had stage Ⅰ incision healing without skin adhesions.No complications such as infection,lower extremity deep venous thrombosis or sural nerve injury occurred postoperatively.All the patients received follow-up of 12-24 months (average 15 months),which showed no complications like tendon rerupture occurred.According to clinical evaluation criterion of Termann,the average score was 92 points (range,76-96 points).The result was excellent in 28 patients,good in five and fair in one,with excellence rate of 97％.ConclusionsSmall incisional double-tsuge suture method achieves low rate of complications and good outcomes for repairing acute achilles tendon rupture and is an ideal tendon surgery approach.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of callus induction and culture conditions on secondary metabolic diversity of the callus cell lines of traditional Chinese medicinal plant Glycyrrhiza sp. (Glycyrrhiza) by combined chemical analysis and HPLC fingerprint. These callus induction conditions included two Glycyrrhiza species, two types of explants, light and dark conditions, and two combinations of hormones. The evaluation was firstly based on the contents of total flavonoids in the callus by chemical analysis and one way ANOVA. The content of total flavonoids in callus was significantly (P < 0.05) influenced by Glycyrrhiza species, light condition, and the combination of hormones. The callus was further evaluated using diversity factor based on the comparison of HPLC fingerprints of these callus cell lines. Diversity factor varies significantly for calli induced under different conditions, with the highest being at 0.45 under light condition and combination of hormones. These results provide important knowledge for the selection of suitable callus cell lines for the production of pharmacologically important secondary metabolites or bioactive fractions by in vitro culture of Glycyrrhiza sp.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of percutaneous drainage of solitary retroperitoneal abscess under CT guidance.Methods A retrospective analysis was made for percutaneous drainage of solitary retroperitoneal abscess with CT guidance in 13 patients including 4 at the tail of pancreas, 3 nearby the head of pancreas,3 in perirenal space,2 in posterior renal space and 1 case was by the side of psoas muscle.The maximum diameters of retroperitoneal abscess were between 3.5cm and 8cm.Results Out of 13 patients,8 with one time drainage,3 with twice drainages and 2 with thrice drainages.The mean duration of drainage was 16 days with no recurrence or residual lesions during clinical follow up.Conclusion CT guided percutaneous drainage of solitary retroperitoneal abscess is effective and minimally invasive.(J Intervent Radiol,2007,16:828-830)

Objective:To validate the clinical value of CT-guided curve-needle percutaneous ethanol injection (CNPEI) for celiac plexus block analgesia. Methods: Thirty-two patients with end-stage cancer, including 13 complicated with extensive retroperitoneal lymph node enlargement and fusion, were enrolled in this study. All patients complained of refractory upper abdominal pain and had received narcotic analgesics and radiotherapy, but the analgesic effect was not good. CT-guided CNPEI was therefore prescribed. Results: The effective rates of CT-guided CNPEI were 100%, 100%, 96.9%, 90.6%, 87.5%, and 84.4% immediately,and at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks after treatment, respectively. All enlarged lymph nodes had obvious necrosis and became shrunk. Conclusion: Combined application of bilateral anterior and posterior diaphragmatic crura block and trans-lymph node block can produce good analgesic effects, and curve-needle puncture make the above technique simpler.

Objective:To validate the therapeutic value of CT-guided percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) in the treatment of metastatic adrenal tumors. Methods: Thirty-one foci (diameter ranging from 1.5 cm to 7.2 cm) in 25 patients with metastatic adrenal tumors were treated with CT-guided PEI for more than twice. Plain and enhanced CT scans were performed 1-2 months after PEI to observe the size and necrosis of the tumors. Results: Post-PEI enhanced CT scan showed that 18 of the 20 foci with diameters less than 3 cm completely necrotized; 11 foci with diameters between 3 cm and 7.2 cm necrotized partially, and 2 foci completely necrotized after another 2-3 courses of PEI treatment. Conclusion: CT-guided PEI is a simple and minimally invasive means for treatment of metastatic adrenal tumors, and the therapeutic effect is satisfactory.

Objective To observe effect of arginine on wound healing of diabetic rats.Meth- ods Forty male Lewis rats were equally and randomly divided into diabetic group and normal control group.The diabetic group were rendered with diabetic by using intraperitoneal(IP)streptozotocin seven days prior to surgery and underwent a dorsal skin incision with implantation of polyvinyl-alcohol sponges. Either of two groups were subdivided into arginine treatment group and saline treatment group,10 rats in each group,of which the arginine treatment group received arginine at 1 g/kg per day by IP injection, while the saline treatment group received saline injection only.Animals were sacrificed 10 days post wound to observe antibreakage tension,hydroxyproline content and mRNA expression of procollagenⅠandⅢ.Results Diabetic wounds had greatly decreased breaking strengths compared with controls. Arginine significantly enhanced wound breaking strengths,increased wound hydroxyproline levels and ele- vated mRNA for procollagenⅠandⅢin both diabetic and control animals as compared to their saline-trea- ted counterparts.Conclusion Arginine can effectively promote healing of diabetic wounds in rats.
