Objective To investigate the current human resources and continuing education of clinical laboratories in Ningxia's hospitals and identify problems to resolve.Methods A questionnaire survey was made to study the current human resources in clinical laboratories of hospitals in Ningxia,and the data obtained were analyzed.Results There were 676 laboratory staff employed in 75 clinical 5.1.In terms of education,the ratio their titles ranging from postgraduate,graduate,college Differences in their continuing education are significant statistically.Conclusion Imbalance is found in the distribution of academic titles,education and age groups in such clinical laboratories,with a shortage of those of high academic title and education,and great gaps in continuing education.

Objective It has been shown that fluorinated inhalational anesthetics have various adverse effects on the lungs. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different concentrations of isoflurane (ISO) on the lungs in rats.Methods Ninety Wistar rats of both sexes weighing 140-200 g were randomly divided into two groups : (A) control group received only oxygen inhalation ( n = 30) and (B) isoflurane group (n = 60) which was farther divided into 2 subgroups (n = 30):0.6% and 1.4% isoflurane. In each subgroup isoflurane was inhaled for 2 h ( n = 10), 4h (n = 10) or 8 h ( n = 10) . The animals were placed in a glass container and isoflurane was delivered from ISO vaporizer into the container through the inlet. The end-tidal ISO concentration was checked at the outlet. The animals were sacrificed at the end of ISO inhalation. The lungs were immediately removed and blood was collected for determination of (1) lung water content, (2) protein content and neutrophil ratio in broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) , (3) serum and BALF surfactant protein-A (SP-A) content and (4) microscopic examination. Results There was no significant difference in all variables between control group and 0.6% ISO subgroup. Exposure to 1.4% ISO for 8 h caused an increase in neutrophil ratio and protein content in BALF, and serum SP-A content but a decrease in BALF SP-A content. There was no significant difference in lung water content between control group and 1.4% ISO (8 h) subgroup. Conclusion Isoflurane (1 MAC) inhalation over 8 h may impair the function of alveolar epithelium.

ObjectiveTo discuss the relationship between patella location and chondromalacia patella,explore its mechanism and clinical significance.Methods Knee joint MRI was performed in 1052 patients (506 men and 546 female).Among them,there were 299 patients( 100 men and 199 female)with chondromalacia patella.They were divide into the group of 1-19,the group of 20-39,the group of 40-59 years old and the group of older than 60 years to compute the positive rate respectively.Insall-Salvati method was used to measure the length of chondromalacia ligaments(L) and the length of chondromalacia path(P).The relationship between patella location and chondromalacia was tested by using t test and x2 test.ResultsThe total positive rate of chondromalacia patella was 28.4％ (299/1052).In female it was 36.4％ (199/546) and in men was 19.8％ (100/506).The group of 1-19 years old had 16 patients ( 16.8％,16/95).The group of 20-39 years old had 71 patients( 17.9％,71/396).The group of 40-59 years old had 116 patients ( 33.2％,116/349 ).The group of older than 60 years had 96 patients (45.3％,96/212).The positive rate of chondromalacia patella increased with age.The L/P value of normal group and chondromalacia patella group were 1.15 ±0.15 and 1.24 ±0.17 respectively.The L/P value of normal group of men and women were 1.13 ± 0.15 and 1.17 ± 0.14 respectively.The L/P value of chondromalacia patella group of men and women were 1.20 ±0.17 and 1.26 ±0.16 respectively.The InsallSalvati index of age groups showed significant differences.The L/P value of pathological changes group and normal group of 1-19 years old were 1.38 ± 0.25 and 1.24 ± 0.16 respectively.The L/P value of pathological changes group and normal group of 20-39 years old were 1.24 ± 0.17 and 1.15 ± 0.16 respectively.The L/P value of pathological changes group and normal group of 40-59 years old were 1.24 ±0.16 and 1.12 ±0.12 respectively.The L/p value of pathological changes group and normal group of older than 60 years were 1.21 ±0.16 and 1.12 ±0.12 respectively.All of them had significant differences (P ＜ 0.01 ).ConclusionsThe positive rate of chondromalacia patella for female is higher than that for men,which also increases with age.High patella location is relevant to chondromalacia patella.

Objective:Using analytic hierarchy process(AHP)method to construct the risk evaluation of medical equipment.Methods: Combine the professors’ suggestion, data of maintenance and quality control to several medical equipments in different hospitals. Screen six kinds of medical equipment, including infant incubator, high-frequency electrotome, defibrillator, ECG monitor, ventilator and infusion pumps.Results: Ventilator has highest risk and need to be concentrated.Conclusion: The results can guide quality control, patrol, and maintenance.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the antibiotic resistance of Staphylococcus aureus isolates from the clinical samples from 2005 to 2007.METHODS The susceptibility tests and D-test were performed by the disk diffusion method and their results were analyzed by the software WHONET 5.4.RESULTS The rate of MRSA isolates accounted for 64.1%.The resistance rate to 12 kinds of the antimicrobial agents,such as penicillins,cephalosporins and carbapenems was 100%.The MRSA and MSSA were susceptible to linezolid and vancomycin.No isolates were resistant to vancomycin in our hospital;the positive rate of D-test was 78.7%.CONCLUSIONS MSSA is still sensible to most of the antimicrobial agents,but MRSA shows multidrug resistance.The D-test is of great clinical importance.

AIM To determine whether microinjection of ? amyloid peptide fragment 25～35 (A?25～35 ) into rat hippocampus induces the learning and memory dysfunction.METHODS Microinjection of A? 25～35 into hippocampus induced the rat learning and memory dysfunction. Step down test, Shuttle box test, and Morris water maze test were used to evaluate rat learning and memory function;The sections were stained with haematoxylin eosin (HE),the amyloid deposits were detected using Congo Red and silver.RESULTS The latency of A? 25～35 treated rats shortened,the stimulating time prolonged,and the numbers of errors increased in the step down test;Shuttle box test showed that A? 25～35 caused the latency and numbers of active escape reduction and the numbers of passive avoidance increase; Also in morris water maze, A?25 35 induced an impairment in rat spatial resolution; In A? 25～35 treated group, a significant decrease in the numbers of neurons in cortex and hippocampus,a massive glial reaction and neurophilic phenomenon were detected by HE staining; the positive vascular amyloidosis by Congo red and fibrils by Ag staining were also observed.CONCLUSION Microinjection of A? 25～35 into rat hippocampus may induce the learning and memory dysfunction and pathological changes which were similar to that found in Alzheimers disease (AD) brain.

Objective To study the reversal effect of adriamycin (ADM) resistance in human breast cancer cell line MCF-7/ADM by realgar (REA) combined with ?-elemene (?-ELE), two types of anticancer drugs. Methods The sensitivity to ADM of MCF-7/ADM cells was studied by MTT assay.The intracellular accumulation of ADM in MCF-7/ADM cells was observed by fluorescent-spectrophotometry. Expressions of P-GP protein and Bcl-2 protein were detected by flow cytometry. Results The combined treatment of REA and ?-ELE could significantly enhance the cytotoxic effect of ADM on MCF-7/ADM cells to 4.2 fold as compared with the treatment of REA or ?-ELE respectively (P

Objective To investigate the role of Catbindin-D28k in the kidney on calcium metabolism.Methods VDR/CaBP-D28k double knockout(KO)mice was made.Body weight,diet intake and serum,urinary parameters and length,density of the long bones,histological staining of the tibia of WT,CaBP-D28(-/-),VDR(-/-)and VDR(-/-)/CaBP-D28k(-/-)mice were determined on regular and high Ca-Lac diet.Results On a regular diet,the double KO mice were growth-retarded more and smaller than VDR KO mice.Compared with VDR KO mice,the double KO mice had higher urinary calcium excretion and rachitic skeletal phenotype,which were manifested with higher serum parathyroid hormone levels,lower bone mineral density,and more distorted growth plate with mole osteoid formation in the trabecular region.On high calcium and high lactose diet,blood-ionized calcium levels were normal in both VDR KO and the double KO mice.However,in contrast to VDR KO mice,the skeletal abnormalities were not completely corrected in the double KO mice.Conclusion These results directly demonstrate that CaBP-D28k plays a critical role in maintaining calcium homeostasis and skeletal mineralization and suggest that its caleemic role can be mostly compensated by CaBP-D9k.

This review will provide useful references for the future development and application of Chinese medicinal herbs cosmetics.
