1.Study Progress of Cluster A in Homeobox Gene Family and Its Relationship with Leukemia
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1993;0(03):-
Homeobox(HOX) gene is a kind of regulatory gene, which can regulate the embryonic development and cell differentiation, and participate in the regulation and control of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cell proliferation, differentiation and maturation, etc.Cluster A in HOX gene family is the master gene for proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, which has an influence on the number of hematopoietic stem cells and the differentiation of hematopoietic stem cell into erythroid, myeloid, megakaryocytic and lymphatic system, and has a relationship with the generation of leukemia. In this article, study progress of Cluster A in HOX gene family and its relationship with leukemia were briefly stated.

OBJECTIVETo deposit silver nanoparticles on a titanium surface to obtain antibacterial properties. To reduce the incidence of peri-implantitis, and improve the success rate of implantation.
METHODSA silver nanoparticle-modified titanium (Ti-nAg) surface was prepared using silanization method, and its surface was characterized by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). Two species of bacteria, namely, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, were used to test the antibacterial effect of Ti-nAg surface.
RESULTSScanning electron microscope (SEM) revealed that a small quantity of silver nanoparticles were deposited on the titanium surface. XPS analyses revealed that 6.8% of silver was present on the titanium surface. After 24 h of incubation, 94.23% of Staphylococcus aureus and 95.34% of Escherichia coli were killed on the Ti-nAg surface.
CONCLUSIONResults suggest that silver nanoparticle-modified titanium is a promising material with an antibacterial property that may be used as an implantable biomaterial.

Bulletin of The Academy of Military Medical Sciences 2010;34(1):1-4
Biotechnology supremacy is a newly-advanced power theory. It is a superior dominance of military biotechnological application based on the microcosm of life structure within a certain period of time. The advancement of biotechnology supremacy and modern biotechnology has created the concept of bio-micro-frontier, which involves information and defense resources of all living ultra-micro-organisms with national and regional characteristics. Being feasible both in theory and practice, the implementation of bio-micro-frontier system is strategically important. This article explores the implementation of bio-micro-frontier in terms of strategy and tactics, which will add a unique dimension to future military transformation and active defense.

Objective To investigate the effect of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery on renal gluconeogenesis, and to explore the mechanism of improving glucose control and insulin sensitivity in obese rats. Methods Rats were randomly divided into the obese group (n=30) consumed high-fat diet (HFD) and control group (NC group, n=8).Top 24 of animals fed HFD by change in body mass were subdivided into three groups: obese control group (OB group, n=8), obese under RYGB group (RYGB group, n=8) or sham-operation (sham group, n=8).Intraperitoneal glucose tolerance tests (IPGTT) were performed meanwhile the AUC of blood glucose concentration-time after surgery.Fasting glucose, insulin and lipid were measured respectively and HOMA-IR were calculated. The mRNA level and protein level of the key enzymes (G6P and PEPCK) of renal gluconeogenesis were examined with RT-PCR and Western blot respectively. Results Compared with OB group and Sham group, the body mass, lipid, blood glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR and AUG were significantly decreased (P<0.05), the expression of G6P and PEPCK mRNA and protein were significantly reduced(P<0.05) in RYGBgroup. Conclusions Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery can improve glucose control and insulin resistance, which may be related to the decreased level of mRNA, protein of G6P and PEPCK, reduced gluconeogenesis and glucose output in renal cortex.

China Oncology 2001;0(05):-
Background and Purpose:Kaposi's sarcoma(KS) cases occurring in renal allograph recipients was considered to be due to long-term immunosuppressive therapy. But the exact carcinogenetic process has not been elucidated so far.The lesions could not be distinguished from other KS types by histopathological study.Endemic KS cases seemed to be more common in Xinjiang, especially in the Uygur ethnic group, and their relation to other types of KS was investigated in three cases by histopathology and immunohistochemistry for the present study. Methods:Biopsy specimens from three cases of renal tronsplantation related KS,including two Uygur and one Han patients, were obtained from this hospital(No.474 hospital of PLA).Formalin-fixed and paraffin embedded blocks were cut for routine HE and immunohistochemical staining to study respectively.Monoantibodies of CD34,Ⅷ-factor,Vimentin,actin and FN were detected by S-P techniques for immunohistochemistry. Results:Histopathologically, the typical histology of traditional KS was found in almost all the specimens of the three patients. In the early stage of the disease, there are only a few vessel fissures with irregular dilation and clustering obese(epithelioid)cells. In the middle stage, the changes are wider in scope with proliferation of spindle cells,in the form of beams and weaves. The proliferating vessels are dilated and hyperemic around the lesion. In the late stage, the spindle cells proliferation are markedly atypical, and karyokinesis is increased.Immunohistochemistry showed CD34 to be more strongly positive,Ⅷ-Factor(+),Vimentin(+) showed a weak reation;while actin(-),FN(-) were negative. Conclusions:Renal transplantation related KS is not essentially different from other types of KS both in histopathohogy and immunohistochemical characters which may reflect that they have a similar etiopathogenetic procession. However, the distinctive distribution of morbidity among different ethnic groups or districts strongly suggested that the genetic background plays a critical role on KS carcinogenesis.
