Objective To investigate the prevalence of year-round respiratory viral infection in children with lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI), and the relationship between respiratory viral infection and allergen sensitization in exacerbating asthma. Methods A total of 231 hospitalized children with acute LRTI were investigated from May 2013 to April 2014. The 5 most common respiratory viruses were isolated from nasopharyngeal aspirate using multiplex reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), adenovirus (AV), parainfluenza virus (PIV), influenza virus (IFV) and rhinovirus (RV). Atopic sensitization was defined if more than 1 serum specific immunoglobulin E level measured using immunofluorescence experiment was over 0.35 IU/mL. Results RSV was the most common pathogen of bronchiolitis in hospitalized children through the year. RV or IFV infections were more prevalent in asthma exacerbations compared to other LRTIs. AV was more likely to cause pneumonia. RV and IFV were associated with asthma exacerbations in children with atopic sensitization, but not in nonatopic children. Conclusion RV and IFV are associated with hospitalization for asthma exacerbation in children with atopic sensitization.

Objective To report secondary paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity in a patient with tuberculous meningitis and to review the diagnostic criteria, clinical features, possible pathogenesis and management of this condition. Methods The clinical data of a case with paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity secondary to tuberculous meningitis was retrospectively analyzed and related literature was reviewed. Results A 1-year-old boy was admitted to our institute with a history of lethargy and vomiting for 3 days. Neurological examination revealed abnormalities. A lumbar puncture revealed the evidence of meningitis. PPD test, T-SPOT.TB and radiological examination revealed tuberculous meningitis. Later, when stayed in the intensive care unit, he developed paroxysmal hypertension, sinus tachycardia, tachypnea, dystonia, and high fever. These episodes improved after administration of propranolol, benzodiazepines and artane. Conclusions Paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity is a rare manifestation of tuberculous meningitis, early recognition is very important for avoid misdiagnosis and overtreatment.

Objective:To study the anti-fibrogenetic effect of matrine compound injection and its mechanism. Methods: Experimental liver fibrosis induced by tetrachloride in rats was treated by matrine compound injection. Liver function index, interleukin-1? (IL-1?) and pathological changes in liver tissue were observed in model and therapy groups during the 4th,6th and 9th week. Results:The serum IL-1? levels of model and therapy groups were (25. 51?14. 31) and (10. 49?7. 49) pg/ml in the 4th week, (109. 67?20. 87) and (15. 06?2. 65) pg/ml in the 6th week, and (40. 26?10. 63) and (23. 27?7. 56) pg/ml in the 9th week. The liver function (ALT, AST, TBil) of therapy group was better than that of model group at each stage. Pathological changes indicated that the infiltration of inflammatory cells,the degree of liver cell necrosis and the degree of fi-broplastic proliferation in the therapy group were obviously better than those of the model group. Conclusion : Matrine compound injection has an anti-fibrogenetic action on the liver fibrosis induced by tetrachloride.

Objective Experimentally to investigate the changes in vasospastic canine basilar arteries. Methods Vasospasm of basilar arteries was induced by double-injecting autologous blood into the brain cisterns. 28 adult mongrel dogs of both genders served as the subjects, of them 20 involved in experimental group and accepted the PTA treatment and the other 8 doges were in negative control group without any treatment. PTA was performed by a single inflation of balloon for 10 seconds at a peak pressure of 2.0 atmospheres. Angiography was re-performed at 30 day, 90 day and 300 day following PTA, respectively. The histologic changes were then evaluated using light and electron microscopy. Results Caliber of basilar arteries of all canines decompressed obviously, from 1.3 mm to 0.8 mm. Objective Toinvestigate the changes of liver and kidney function and morphology of the renal artery of the metabolic syndrome (MS) rats.Methods The rats were respectively fed with ordinary or high-fructose diet for 10 weeks,and then took the blood and anatomical observation,to explore the changes of liver and kidney function and morphology of the renal artery of the rats.Results The serum levels of ALT,AST,UA,BUN,CR in the control group and MS group were gradually increased with the feeding time.But those in MS rats were significantly increased than the control rats.MS rats showed dysfunction of liver and kidney,which similar to the clinical MS cases.Compared with the control group,the renal artery of MS rats had the same pathological changes as MS cases,presented with intima uneven thickening and structural disorder,medial smooth muscle cells hyperplasia to intimal,the internal elastic membrane with different degrees of damage and fracture,the film elastic fibers thickening and structural disorder,smooth muscle cell proliferation apparently,medial obvious thickening.Conclusion MS rats have mild dysfunction of liver and kidney and abnormal changes in intima and tunica media of renal artery.

Tumor cells leads to enhanced glucose uptake and the conversion of a larger fraction of pyruvate into lactate even under the circumstance of abundant oxygen. This phenomenon of aerobic glycolysis is known as the Warburg effect. Lactic acid, as an important tool for tumor cells to modify the tumor microenvironment, promotes the process of tumor invasion and metastasis, and contributes to tumor development by inducing and recruiting immunosuppression-related cells and molecules. Lactic acid could efflux out of the cancer cells via the monocarboxylate transporters to prevent intracellular acidification. Lactate can inhibit the cytolytic activity of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, promoting the differentiation of tolerogenic interleukin 10 (IL-10)-producing dendritic cells. Moreover, the lactate-derived lactylation of histone lysine residues can promote macrophage polarization toward the M2-like phenotype, suppressing the immune response within the tumor microenvironment. In this review, we discuss the role of lactate as an immunosuppressor molecule that contributes to tumor evasion from the aspects of lactic acid metabolism and its effect on immune cells. And we explore the possibility of targeting potential targets in lactate metabolism for tumor treatment. At last, we proposed a tumor immunotherapy strategy by inhibiting the pathway of aerobic glycolysis and proteins associated with the production and transport of lactic acid.
