Peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC) is now often used in pediatric patients.PICC is easily inserted,safe,and cost-effective.Although it has many benefits,physicians and nurses remain acutely aware of the problem involved with placement of PICC lines.This review is about the research progress of PICC line related problems.

AIM: To observe the effects of Yangxue qingnao-containing serum on rat vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation induced by lysophosphatidic acid (LPA). METHODS: The [ 3H]-TdR incorporation and mitogen-activated protein kinasc (MAPK) activity were measured in cultured VSMC. End product of lipid peroxidation-MDA levels were also detected. RESULTS: 1?10 -9 ,1?10 -8 and 1?10 -7 mol/L LPA enhanced the cultured VSMC [ 3H]-TdR incorporation, increased MAPK activity and MDA content in a concentration-dependent manner. 5%, 10% and 15% Yangxue qingnao-containing serum concentration-dependently inhibited the increase in VSMC [ 3H]-TdR incorporation, MAPK activity and MDA content induced by LPA. CONCLUSIONS: LPA has a stimulating effect on VSMC proliferation. The LPA-induced intracellular signal transduction may be related to MAPK activity. Yangxue qingnao can efficiently inhibit LPA -induced VSMC proliferation,MAPK activity and lipid peroxidation. [

Objective To investigate the functions of blood plasma homocysteine (Hcy) and high sensitivity C-response protein (hs-CRP) in the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in pathogenesis plays,and observe whether there was associations with disease severity and the correlations.Methods Forty-one patients with COPD were collected from August 2010 to February 2011,and 35 healthy persons as control group.Blood plasma Hcy,hs-CRP,forced expiratory volume in one second account predicted (FEV1％ predicted),and arterial pressure of oxygen (PaO2,arterial blood gases analysis) were measured in COPD patients and controls.Results Plasma Hcy concentration was (22.07 ± 12.13) μmol/L in COPD patients,but (9.89 ±4.41) μmol/L in controls,there were significant differences between two subjects (t =1.674,P ＜0.01).COPD patients had a higher serum hs-CRP concentration (8.60±3.85) mg/L than control's (4.24 ±0.57) mg/L (t =1.682,P ＜ 0.01).Along the descent of FEV1％ predicted,plasma Hcy and hs-CRP were elevated gradually,both sides show a negative correlation (r =-0.45,-0.49,P ＜ 0.05).And plasma Hcy and hs-CRP present a positive correlation in COPD patients (r =0.68,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion Plasma Hcy was significantly elevated in COPD patients,positive correlation related to COPD severity and positive correlation related to serum hs-CRP.

Objective To study the relevance between blood loss, widespread brain contusion injury and consumptive coagulopathy. Methods One hundred and fifty-three cases with severe brain injury was studied about their coagulation data. Analyzed the relationship between blood loss group according to ≥3000 ml and ＜ 3000 ml and coagulation features, the relationship between widespread brain contusion injury and disorder of coagulation;according to whether with brain contusion injury,kinds of bloods transplant and prognosis were asseseed;according to whether with widespread brain contusion injury in ≥ 3000 ml blood loss group,kinds of bloods transplant and prognosis were assessed. Results Compared with ＜ 3000 ml blood loss patients, ≥ 3000 ml patients' blood coagulation changed obviously, with PT prolonging, Fbg and Plt decreasing, the differences were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). Compared with no extensive brain contusion injury patients, in extensive brain contusion injury patients, APTT, PT, TT prolonged, Fbg and Plt decreased,and the difference was statistically significant (P ＜0.05). Extensive brain contusion injury patients with blood loss compared with those without such loss, needed more blood transfusion volume,larger amount of input of fresh frozen plasma Plt volume,the former survival rate was lower [68.29%(28/41)vs. 96.43%(108/112)], the difference between them was statistically significant (P＜ 0.05 ). In 41 patients who had brain widespread contusion ,the cases with extensive blood loss ( ≥ 3000 ml) were compared with those ＜ 3000 ml, and the differences in blood transfusion treatment, fresh frozen plasma, Plt volume,survival rate were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion When blood loss ≥ 3000 ml after trauma,patients show various degrees of coagulopathy,and when accompanied with extensive brain tissue injury,coagulation disorders are more obvious, and the prognosis is even worse.

[Objective]To evaluate the surgical technique and effectiveness of extra-articular arthroscopic debridement in patients with rotator cuff calcifying tendinitis unresponsive to conservative treatment.[Methods]Arthroscopic debridement was performed in 18 patients(5 males,13 females;mean age 56.4,range 34 to 78) in whom pain and functional disability persisted for more than 3 months despite conservative therapy for rotator cuff calcifying tendinitis.Arthroscopy was inserted into subacromial interspace and bursectomy was done.Calcified plaques in supraspinatus tendon were explored and eliminated outside shoulder joint under arthroscopy.VAS pain score,Constant-Murley score and plain radiograph was adopted for evaluation before and after surgery.[Results]The mean follow-up period was 9 months(6 to 15 months)[KG-58x].Pain and functional disturbance of the shoulder disappeared or obviously improved.The average VAS pain score was(7.8?0.6) preoperatively and(1.7?0.4) postoperatively.The average Constant-Murley score was(61?7)preoperatively and(91?4)at the last follow-up.Radiograph showed little residual deposits in 2 cases but without preoperative symptoms.No case need rotator cuff repair.[Conclusion]Extra-articular arthroscopic removal of calcium deposits together with bursectomy is effective and reliable in patients with chronic calcifying tendinitis unresponsive to conservative treatment.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the lethal blood level, the target organs and tissues, the toxicant storage depots and the postmortem redistribution in mice died of emamectin benzoate poisoning. METHODS: The mice model of emamectin benzoate poisoning was established via intragastric injection. The main poisoning symptoms and the clinical death times of mice were observed and recorded dynamically in the acute poisoning group as well as the sub-acute poisoning death group. The pathological and histomorphological changes of organs and tissues were observed after poisoning death. The biodistribution and postmortem redistribution of emamectin benzoate in the organs and tissues of mice were assayed by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) at 0h, 24h, 48h and 72h after death. The lethal blood concentrations and the concentrations of emamectin benzoate were detected by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) at different time points after death. RESULTS: The symptoms of nervous and respiratory system were observed within 15-30 min after intragastric injection. The average time of death was (45.8 ± 7.9) min in the acute poisoning group and (8.0 ± 1.4) d in the sub-acute poisoning group, respectively. The range of acute lethal blood level was 447.164 0-524.463 5 mg/L. The pathological changes of the organs and tissues were observed via light microscope and immunofluorescence microscope. The changes of emamectin benzoate content in the blood, heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney and brain of poisoning mice showed regularity within 72 h after death (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION The target organs of emamectin benzoate poisoning include heart, liver, kidney, lung, brain and contact position (stomach). The toxicant storage depots are kidney and liver. There is emamectin benzoate postmortem redistribution in mice.

Objective:To investigate the effect and mechanism of lysine acetyltransferase 5(KAT5) on the radio-sensitivity of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC).Methods:The expression levels of endogenous KAT5 in ATC and normal thyroid cells were detected by Western blot and qRT-PCR. The effect of KAT5 specific inhibitor NU9056 on the radio-sensitivity of human ATC cells and normal thyroid cells was evaluated by colony formation assay. TCGA database, JASPAR database, along with Western blot, microRNA sequencing, qRT-PCR and dual-luciferase reporter assay were conducted to unravel the underlying mechanism.Results:The expression of endogenous KAT5 at the protein and mRNA levels in human ATC cells was significantly higher than that in normal thyroid cells. NU9056 could significantly enhance the radiosensitivity of human ATC cells to 8505C and CAL-62, whereas showed no sensitization effect on normal thyroid cell Nthy-ori 3-1. Knockdown of KAT5 and NU9056 both down-regulated the expression level of miR-210 in the TC cells, while NU9056 decreased the expression level of transcription factor c-Myc. The putative binding sites of c-Myc in the miR-210 promoter region were predicted, and transfection of c-Myc plasmid significantly enhanced the luciferase activity of miR-210 promoter. Elevated miR-210 level was associated with worse survival of patients with thyroid carcinoma. Down-regulated expression of miR-210 decreased the TET2 mRNA level, while inhibition of miR-210 increased the TET2 mRNA level.Conclusion:The aberrantly-activated KAT5/miR-210/TET2 pathway probably causes the radioresistance of ATC, becoming a novel sensitizing target for ATC radiotherapy in clinical practice.

Objective To characterize the skin physiology function of patients with ache and to facilitate its treatment. Methods Sixty patients with acne (20 males and 40 females) and 60 healthy human controls (20 males and 40 females) were included into this study. The average age of patients and controls was 23.4 years and 25.1 years, respectively. Sebumeter was used to detect the sebum secretion in the following areas: forehead, nose, right and left cheeks, Cutometer(R) MPA580 to measure the skin elasticity, and Scalar Moisture Checker to test the skin hydration on right and left cheeks. Results A significant increase was observed in the level of sebum secretion in the T-zones (199.98±58.21 μg/cm2 vs 117.55±63.16 μg/cm2, t=7.34, P<0.05) as well as in the cheeks(154.45±55.06 μg/cm2 vs 87.50±47.36 μg/cm2, t=7.14, P< 0.05) in the patients compared with the controls. However, the level of skin elasticity and hydration was of no significant difference between the patients and controls (0.7931±0.0755R vs 0.7882±0.0498R, 30.75%±3.87% vs 30.94%±2.91%, respectively, both P>0.05). Conclusion Facial sebum secretion is increased in patients with acne.

OBJECTIVE To discuss the role of head hygiene for nosocomial infection control in operating room.METHODS The head band was weared to improve head hygiene,and enhance the consciousness in control nosocomial infection.RESULTS From Mar 2004 to Mar 2006 there were 2534 cases operated and 23 cases suffered incision infection(0.91%) when surgeon was without use of head band;but from Mar 2004 to Mar 2006 there were 3014 cases operated and the incision infection rate was 0.40%(12 cases) when surgeon was with use of head band.It was an effective method for reducing sweat-inducing contamination by wearing head band to control nosocomial infection in operating room.CONCLUSIONS To improve the head hygiene by wearing head band is arelatively simple practice,it can control nosocomial infection in operating room.
