Journal of Forensic Medicine 2013;29(6):414-418
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the applicability of Capacity of Sexual Self-defense Assessment Scale (CSSAS) in psychiatric patients without mental retardation.
METHODS:
Eighty-seven cases required for assessment of the capacity of sexual self-defense were collected and evaluated by trained professionals according to CSSAS, and the results were compared to the experts' opinions.
RESULTS:
The scores of three grades of capacity of sexual self-defense (none, limited and whole) were 5.97 +/- 5.83, 32.22 +/- 10.15 and 61.60 +/- 13.02, respectively, which were statistically significant among them (P < 0.01). The correlation coefficients between items and total score were 0.59 to 0.91, the Cronbach's alpha value was 0.96, the spilt half Cronbach's alpha value were 0.94 and 0.91, respectively, and the relation coefficient between them was 0.94. According to the original cut off scores, the Kappa value between scale results and experts' opinions was 0.32 (P < 0.01). By redefining the cut off scores, the Kappa value was improved to 0.84 (P < 0.01). Two factors were extracted by means of the factor analysis. The explanation rates of variance were 46.15% and 28.93%, respectively. The accuracy of retrospective cumulative square was 94.30%.
CONCLUSION
The CSSAS could be applied in the psychiatric expertise of the capacity of sexual self-defense in psychiatric patients without mental retardation; however, the cut off scores and the factor weight should be redefined.

Objective To investigate the neuroprotective effects and mechanisms of 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase/ IMP cyclohydrolase(AICAR) supplement (AMPK activator) in different stages of neonatal rats sufferring from hypoxia-ischemia encephalopathy ( HIE). Methods Neonatal rat hypoxia-ischemia brain injury model was employed in this study. A total of 160 neonatal rats were distributed into five groups: sham, model control,AICAR30 min, AICAR24 h and AICAR72 h. The neuroprotective effects of AICAR supplement (30 min, 24 h, 72 h post operation) were compared by cresyl violet staining; Expressions of P-AMPK,AMPK in the brain tissue were measured by Western blotting.Foot-faults method was used to evaluate the long-term prognosis of the rats. Results Compared with the sham group, the survival of rats brain in model control group was significantly decreased [(100.0± 0.1)% and (45.3± 6.3)%, P< 0.05]. AICAR had neuroprotective effects when treated at 30 min and 24 h post operation, while the protective effects disappeared when treated later (72 h post operation) (P>0.05). Compared with the sham group, the expression of P-AMPK significantly increased about three times, while ATP level decreased close to the same. Conclusion Early AICAR treatment can protect hypoxia-ischemia brain injury by increasing AMPK-ATP level.

Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2011;44(8):596-598
Objective To investigate the role of cHSP60 in the pathogenesis of murine cervicitis. Methods Fifty female C3H/HeN mice were randomly and equally classified into 5 groups, including the control group receiving no treatment and 4 groups receiving intravaginal inoculation of cHSP60 (cHSP60 group),live elementary bodies of Chlamydia trachomatis mouse pneumonitis (MoPn group), inactive elementary bodies of MoPn (inactive MoPn group) and growth medium (medium group), respectively. Five days after the inoculation, cervical tissue was resected from these mice and subjected to pathological examination. Results There were varying degrees of inflammatory reaction characterized by neutrophil infiltration, necrosis and shedding of mucosal cells in the cervices of mice in cGSP60 and MoPn groups. No statistical difference was observed in the incidence of cervicitis (90% vs. 80%, P > 0.05), neutrophile count [76.00 (25.0 - 80.0) vs. 25.00 (8.75 -32.5), P> 0.05] or inflammation score [12.5 (11.5 - 14.25) vs. 9.00 (8.00 - 11.5), P > 0.05] between the cHSP60 and MoPn group. The inflammatory reaction was weak with decreased incidence of cervicitis (40%),inflammation score [0.00 (0.00- 12.50)] and neutrophile count [0.00 (0.00- 15.50)] in inactive MoPn group compared with the cHSP60 and MoPn groups (all P < 0.05). A small number of neutrophils migrated into the superficial layer of cervical mucosa in only 2 mice in the medium group. Conclusion cHSP60 may be a primary pathogenic factor in chlamydial genital tract infection.
