1.Repair of defect induced by removal of body surface malignancy with island skin flap
Chinese Journal of Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetology 2001;0(03):-
Objective To study the clinical efficacy of island skin flap in the repair of skin and subcutaneous soft tissue defects caused by excision of malignant tumour in the skin. Methods Island skin flaps with the main artery and its penetrating branches were used to repair the skin and soft tissue defects in different sites after malignant tumour removal. A total of 5 cases were repaired, in which 2 cases were in the face, 2 in limb and one in wall of the chest. Results Among the 5 cases, one was repaired with island skin flaps with the main artery, and another 4 were repaired with island skin flaps with the penetrating arteries. Follow-up for one to 5 years showed that the appearance and function in the repaired sites were normal without blood flow disturbance and dysfunction of the island skin flap, and no recurrence of the tumors except one case. Conclusion The island skin flap with main artery, especially one with its penetrating branches, is a good option to repair the defect caused by removal of malignant tumors with high rate of success, better appearance and minor damage to the donor site.

3.Current status and outlook of pancreatic islets transplantation research
Journal of Interventional Radiology 2006;0(10):-
Diabetes is a common disease, serverely harmful to the human's health and life quality. The pancreatic islets transplantation can correct the patient's hyperglycemia, stop or even reverse the progress of the complication and thus decrease the mortality of diabetic patients. It is the most safe and efficient therapy for diabetes.Since the Edmonton Protocol got success in pancreatic islet transplantation in 2000,it has been more and more interested because of its great clinical curative effect.Research strategy of islet transplantation is now focussed on increasing the acquired islets with normal viability, selecting the best transplantation pathway, and improving the immunosuppression protocol. The shortage of human pancreatic donor is an ever unsolved problem in clinical application. The potential resolutions may include acquisition from xenogenic-islets;islets originated from stem cells, and islets from the living-donor human pancreas. The islets transplantation will open a new application field for interventional radiology.(J Intervent Radiol,2006,15: 577-579)

A growing body of evidence has indicated the important role of autophagy receptors in directing ubiquitinated or non-ubiquitinated cargos towards autophagy. Autophagy receptors bind to LC3 (microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3) on phagophore and autophagosome membranes, and recognize signals on cargoes in the delivery system of autophagy. However, the diverse domains in the receptor structures determine that their roles would never be limited to autophagy. Up to date, increasing numbers of the receptor proteins have been demonstrated to serve as a molecular link or switch participating in autophagic degradation, apoptosis or cell survival signals. Here, we highlight the non-autophagic roles of these receptor proteins to draw attention to this growing research topic.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(03):-
Objective: To study the effect of different dietary fatty acid compositions on breast tumors induced by methyl-nitrosourea(MNU) in rats. Method: Female SD rats were fed diets containing 15% fat (wt/wt) in the experimental period. At age of 50d, rats were randomly assigned to 8 groups and each group was suldivided into tumor group and control group. The tumor group was given a single ip injection of MNU (50 mg/kg bw) and switched to one of 8 different diets containing following fatty acids: saturated fatty acid(SFA); monounsaturated fatty acid(MUFA); n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid(PUFA); n-3 PUFA; 1∶1 n-6/n-3; 5∶1 n-6/n-3; 10∶1 n-6/n-3; 1∶2∶1 S/M/P(n-6/n-3 at 1∶1) for 18w. The control groups received the physiological saline only. The weight growth, mammary tumor incidence, tumor multiplicity, and tumor latency were observed. Results: Except the weight growth was arrested in rats fed on n-3 PUFA 6w later, there was no significant difference in weight growth among the other groups. Additionally, there was no mammary tumor occurrence in control groups, but in model groups, the incidence of mammary tumors in rats fed on SFA, MUFA, n-6 PUFA,5∶1 n-6/n-3, 10∶1 n-6/n-3 and 1∶2∶1 S/M/P diets was twice higher than that in rats fed on 1∶1 n-6/n-3 diet, although there was also no tumorin rats fed on n-3 PUFA diet. Moreover, tumor multiplicity in rats fed on 1∶1 n-6/n-3 diet was obviously decreased in comparison with those groups, and tumor latency was prolonged too. Conclusion: The different dietary fatty acid compositions can diversely influence MNU-induced breast tumors incidence in rats and 1∶1 n-6/n-3 has obvious inhibitory effect.

Objective To study the adhesive characters of Lactobacillus to enterocyte-like HT-29 cells. Methods A HT-29 cell culture was employed to investigate the adherent ability of Lactobacillus.Bacterial suspension and HT-29 cells were co-incubated at 37℃ for 1h.The cells with adherent bacteria were Gram-stained,and then examined microscopically under oil immersion. The pH of the medium, bacterial growth phase,co-incubation time, bacterial concentration,D-mannose and type of host cells, which were involved in the process of adherence of Lactobacillus to enterocyte-like HT-29 cells, were also investigated. Results The adherent level increased substantially for Lactobacillus reuteri JCM1081 as the pH decreased from 6.0 to 4.0.Maximum adherence occurred within 90min and remained stable until the end of incubation. The bacterial concentration exerted a certain influence on the adherence of Lactobacillus reuteri JCM1081 to HT-29 cells, and it seemed to be concentration dependent.Maximum adherence occurred in the concentration of 109cfu/ml and remained stable until the end of incubation.Lactobacillus strain that grew into stationary phase showed higher ability to adhere to HT-29 cells than that in logarithmic phase. The addition of D-mannose dramatically decreased the level of Lactobacillus adherence. The Lactobacillus strain adhered in higher levels to the enterocyte-like cells or gastric epithelium cells than other cell origins, and the adhesion of Lactobacillus showed host cells specificity. Conclusion The adhesive characters observed with Lactobacillus suggested that adhesive properties are species and host specific. The pH,bacterial growth phase,co-incubation time, bacterial concentration and D-mannose may influence the adhesion of Lactobacillus to enterocyte-like HT-29 cells.
