Objective To investigate the relationship between isolated systolic high-normal blood pressure and cor-onary heart disease (CHD) in the middle-aged and elderly population. Methods A total of 236 patients over 50 years old and undergone coronary angiography were enrolled and divided into isolated systolic high-normal blood pressure (ISHNBP) group (n=135) and non-ISHNBP (NISHNBP) group (n=101) according to their systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels. All clinical data and angiographic data were collected. Results There was no significant difference in systolic blood pres-sure between NISHNBP group and ISHNBP group (P>0.05). There were significantly lower levels of diastolic blood pres-sure and higher pulse pressure in ISHNBP group (P＜0.01). Results of multivariate logistic analysis showed that isolated sys-tolic high-normal blood pressure was the independent risk factor for CHD (OR=2.67,95%CI:1.50-4.75, P＜0.01). And the distribution of diseased coronary vessel numbers was more extensive in the ISHNBP group (P＜0.01). Conclusion The iso-lated systolic blood pressure in the middle-aged and elderly population with high risk of coronary heart disease should be paid attention to, and make appropriate interventions, which may help reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease.

Objective To detect the mRNA expression of KPNA2 in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) tissue and to investigate its relationship with the clinicopathological features of HCC so as to provide the basis for predicting HCC infiltration ,metastasis and early treatment .Methods The HCC tissue and paracarcinoma normal tissue from 30 operative cases of HCC in the hepatobiliary surgery department of this hospital from January 2011 to November 2013 were collected and detected KPNA2 expression at the transcriptional level by RT-PCR .The correlation between the mRNA expression of KPNA2 with the clinicopathological factors of HCC was analyzed by consulting the medical record data .Results Among 30 cases of HCC ,the ratio of KPNA2 mRNA in the HCC tissue and the paracarcinoma normal tissue in 25 cases(83 .33% ) was up-regulated (grey value >2 times) .Therefore ,the KP-NA2 gene exhibited the high expression in the HCC tissue and low expression in the paracarcinoma normal tissue .Conclusion KP-NA2 is highly expressed in the HCC tissue and lowly expressed in the paracarcinoma normal tissue ;the high expression of KPNA2 is positively correlated with the stage and pathological grading of HCC ;KPNA2 may be used as an important indicator for early di-agnosing HCC and judging the malignant degree and potential metastais ability of HCC .

Objective To investigate the correlation of diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ＜70mm Hg and isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) with coronary atherosclerosis (CAS) and coronary heart disease (CHD) in elderly patients and to analyze the independent risk factors for low DBP.Methods A total of 246 elderly patients with untreated ISH who underwent coronary angiography were divided into the low DBP group (n=102) and the non-low DBP group (n=144) according to DBP level.All clinical and angiographic data were collected and the retrospective analysis was performed to assess the risk of CAS and CHD in patients with low DBP and to analyze the risk factors for low DBP.Results There were no significant differences in systolic pressure level between the low DBP group and the non low DBP group [(156.2±15.6) mmHgvs.(154.4±14.2) mmHg,t=0.93,P＞0.05],while pulse pressure level was significantly higher in the low DBP group than in the non-lowDBPgroup [(91.3±±17.7) mmHgvs.(72.9±15.1) mm Hg,t=8.54,P＜0.01].Stepwise logistic analysis showed that age,diabetes and smoking were independent risk factors for low DBP.After adjustment for age,gender and other common risk factors,low DBP was independently associated with CAS and CHD (OR =1.72 and 1.44,95％ CI:1.082.72 and 1.04-1.99,respectively,both P＜ 0.05).Conclusions Low DBP is independently associated with CAS and CHD in elderly patients with untreated ISH.Age,diabetes and smoking are the independent risk factors for low DBP.

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of trans-TrkC gene neural stem cells (NSCs)on the recovery of neural function after spinal cord injury.Methods Sixty SD rats were ran- domly divided into six groups:normal control group(A),hemisection group(B),NSCs transplantation grnup(C),NSCs transplantation with the regional application of NT-3 group(D),trans-TrkC gene NSCs transplantation group(E)and trans-TrkC genc NSCs transplantation with the regional application of NT- 3 group(F),10 rats in each group.Nine days after the set up of animal models,cell transplantation into the injured spinal cord was performed.The BBB locomotor score was calculated,and MEP(motor evoked potential)and SEP(somatesensory evoked potential)were pedormed two months after cell transplanta- tion.Results Two months after cell transplantation,the BBB locomotor score was partly recovered, and the MEP and SEP(somatosensory evoked potential)results were also markedly improved in Group F, which indicated the restoration of the upward and downward nerve conduction function of the injured spinal cord.But it seemed that the restoration of the downward nerve conduction was better than that of the up- want,and the extent of the improvement of MEP and SEP results was larger than that of motion function recovery.The onset latency,peak to peak amplitude of MEP and SEP,and the BBB score of Group F re- stored the best compared with the other groups,and the differences were statistically significant(P

AIMTo synthesize oxazolindinone derivatives and test their antibacterial activities.

METHODS3-Halo-4-methylaniline was acylated with benzyl chloroformate, followed by cyclization with (R)-glycidyl butyrate, acylation with methanesulfonyl chloride, substitution with NaN3, reduction with H2 + Pd/C or P(OMe)3 + HCl, acylation with Ac2O, and bromination with NBS to form bromides VIIIa and VIIIb, Substitution of the bromides with various amines including aliphatic amine and aromatic amine provided the target compounds IXa and IXb. The in vitro antibacterial activity of the target compounds was tested.

RESULTSFifty one new compounds were designed and synthesized. And their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR and elemental analyses or MS. Some physical constants such as [alpha]D25 were reported also. Compounds VIIb, IXa1, IXa2, IXa7, IXb1, IXb3, IXb10, IXb16 and IXb23 had moderate in vitro antibacterial activity against G+ bacteria but they were less active than linezolid or norfloxacin.

CONCLUSIONInsertion of methylene group between 4-position of phenyl and morpholinyl group in linezolid derivatives can not increase the antibacterial activity.

Objective To evaluate the effects of probioties on inflammation,intestinal flora and mucosal tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-?)expression in experimental colitis rats.Methods Thirty Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group(NC),model control group(UC),and pro- biotics treatment group(PC).The experimental colitis were induced by trinitrobenzene sulfonie acid (TNBS)/ethanol enema.Rats in PC group were fed with Bifico[live probiotics of combined bifidobacte- rium(Bif),lactobacillus (Lac) and enterococcus]by 2.2?10~9 colony-forming unit (CFU)/d for 4 weeks.Inflammatory scores and mucosal morphological changes under light microscopy were studied. Plasma endotoxin levels,expressions of TNF-?and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in mueosa were measured. Enteric microorganisms in cecum were fostered with standard methods.Results Inflammatory scores in PC group decreased compared with those in UC group(7.94?0.85 vs 10.25?1.36,P＜0.05),but still higher than those in NC group(7.94?0.85 vs 4.35?0.88,P＜0.01).There was a significant alteration in the enteric microbial flora,Bif and Lac were decreased significantly in UC group,Bifico supplement ameliorated this imbalance.Plasma endotoxin and mucosal TNF-?levels in PC were lower than those in UC group[endotoxin:(93.33?21.22)pg/ml vs (121.25?39.07)pg/ml;TNF-?:67.51?14.63 vs 85.99?18.17,P＜0.05],but higher than those in NC group[endotoxin:(93.33?21.22) pg/ml vs(35.20?15.12)pg/ml;TNF+?:67.51?14.63 vs 43.28 4?19.98,P＜0.01].There was no statistically significant difference in mucosal IL-6 levels between PC group and UC group,though its level in PC group was lower than that in UC group(155.22?34.01 vs 184.09?29.11,P＞0.05),but higher than that in NC group(155.22?34.01 vs 108.73?37.35,P＜0.01).Conclusions Probiotics can attenuate inflammation of experimental colitis of rats through reinstituting gut flora bal- anee.Improving gut flora imbalance,reducing endotoxin and pro-inflammatory cytokines may be the effects of probiotics.

Objective To investigate small intestinal absorption behavior of oral collagen peptides microspheres in rats. Methods The everted gut sac (EGS) and Single-pass intestinal perfusion (SPIP) model were established in Wistar rats (250-350 g, 5 months).The absorption of collagen peptide in different segments of rat small intestines was detected by BCAmethod. Results The cumulative transmittance of different particle size of calcium alginate/ Chitosan (SA/ CTS) microspheresin EGS experiments was that 500 μm microspheres<200 μm microspheres<10 μm microspheres ( P<0.01, except the jejunumintestine).The cumulative transmittance of microspheres ( 10 μm) was: SA/ CTS rate ( Ka ) and permeability rate ( Peff )microspheres> SA microspheres(duodenum segment, jejunum segment P<0.05;ileum segment, P<0.01).The absorption rate ofSA/ CTS microspheres was evidently higher than that of SA microspheres in SPIP experiments. Conclusion Small intestineabsorption of collagen peptides microspheres is correlated with particle size, and the chitosan in SA/ CTS microspheres isbeneficial to the absorption of collagen peptide in small intestine segments.

Objective:To study the relationship between dietary vitamin A intake and plasma vitamin A concentration , and establish the theoretical basis for dietary intake predicting vitamin A nutritional status . Methods:By using cluster sampling , 492 children aged 2-7 years in kindergartens in Banan district of Chongqing were selected .A cross-sectional nutrition and health survey was conducted , including the clinical examination , anthropometry , laboratory test and dietary survey .Results: Among the children surveyed, 229 were boys, and 263 girls, the mean age was (4.54 ±0.87) years, height (107.50 ± 7.20) cm, and weight (18.42 ±3.41) kg, the mean value of plasma vitamin A was (1.04 ±0.30)μmol/L.The prevalence of marginal vitamin A deficiency ( MVAD) was 43.5%.No cases of severe clinical vitamin A deficiency were found (plasma vitamin A≤0.35μmol/L).Clinical examination found no conjunctiva, corneaor skin abnormalities, and no Bitot’s spots.Prevalence of the last two weeks colds were 27.4% (135/492), no diarrhea and other gastrointestinal or digestive diseases were found .The proportion of insufficient dietary vitamin A intake ( <600 μg RE/d) was as high as 50.0%.By using correlation analysis, plasma retinol concentrations were related to dietary vitamin A intake (r=0.162, P<0.001), and to dietary energy intake (r=0.107, P=0.017).After adjustment for the effects of other non-dietary factors on vitamin A deficiency , the multivariate logistic regression showed that vitamin A-rich foods of liver intake=0 g/d (OR=1.95, 95% CI:1.05-3.61, P=0.034), vitamin A-rich fruits intake=0 g/d (OR =1.55, 95% CI: 1.03 -2.33, P =0.034), vitamin A-rich vegetables intake<200 g/d (OR=3.47, 95%CI:1.37-8.75, P=0.009) were important risk factors of vitamin A deficiency .But we had not found the correlation between the intake of meat , eggs and milk and vita-min A deficiency .Conclusion:Dietary factors may be the major risk factor of vitamin A deficiency in the three kindergartens .The dietary vitamin A intakes are significantly related to plasma retinol concentra-tions, and the vitamin A-rich foods intakes can predict the body ’ s vitamin A nutritional status .
