International Eye Science 2014;(6):1161-1164
AIM:To observe the efficacy, complications and ocular surface tear dynamics of the treatment for pterygium combined with conjunctivochalasis by inferior limbal-stem-cell transplantation.
METHODS: All 30 patients ( 46 eyes ) diagnosed as pterygium combined with conjunctivochalasis in our hospital from December, 2010 to December, 2012 with a mean age of 61. 2y (SD 7. 2, range 49-75) were subjected to observation. After excision of nasal pterygium, an equivalent size of conjunctival flap linked with corneal limbal stem cell from inferior limbus was transplanted to the exposed sclera. Afterwards, the inferior bulbar conjunctiva was trimmed and fixed onto surface of sclera and inferior corneal limbus. After one-year follow-up, the comparisons regarding vision acuity between pre-operation and post-operation ( 1mo later ) as well as ocular-surface tear dynamics changes including several indexes like altitude and integrity of tear meniscus, break-up time ( BUT ) , corneal fluorescein staining and chloramphenicol gestation test before and 3mo after surgery were made. The operative complications and the recurrence rates 1y after operations were recorded.
RESULTS: Median visual acuity was 0. 2 (0. 04-0. 6) before the operation and median visual acuity was 0. 4 (0-04-1. 0) 1mo after the operation. Of total 46 eyes in 21 eyes ( 45. 7%), visual acuity improved. No vision changes were found in other 25 eyes ( 54. 3%). Significant difference ( P<0. 01 ) of vision acuity before and after surgery was found. In addition, break-up time ( BUT) , corneal fluorescein staining and chloramphenicol gestation test and altitude and integrity of tear meniscus show better results 3mo after surgery than that of pre-operation, which showed statistically significant ( P <0-05). After 1y follow-up, 33 eyes (71. 7%) healed while problems in 11 eyes ( 23%) were relieved. The total efficacy rate was 95. 6%. Nonetheless, invalid surgeries were noticed in two eyes ( 4. 4%) that affected by recurrence of pterygium. The 33 eyes (71. 7%) affected by conjunctivochalasis was cured in terms of subjective evaluation and improved in 9 eyes (19. 6 %), but 4 eyes (8. 7%) exhibited no evident improvement in terms of subjective complains. Total efficacy was 91. 3%. The 41 eyes (89. 1%) were reported to be normal while 5 eyes ( 10. 9%) were revealed to be abnormal in terms of objective therapeutic evaluation. And this condition was so-call conjunctivochalasis recurrence with a recurrence rate of 10. 9%. No proliferation of granulation, narrowing inferior fornix and malfunction of eye movements was found.
CONCLUSION: Inferior - limbal - stem - cell transplantation to treat pterygium combined with conjunctivochalasis obtains better results. It proves to eradicate or relieve symptoms of patients effectively and ameliorate ocular-surface tear dynamics.

Objective To investigate the effects of carbohydrate and its concentration, nitrogen source, and metal ions on suspension cell growth of Gentiana macrophylla and gentiopicroside accumulation. Methods The cell dry weight and gentiopicroside content were measured under factors of different carbohydrate,NH4+/NO3-,Ca2+,and Zn2+ at various concentration. Results The optimum culture conditions are as follows:3% sucrose,NH4+/NO3-of 20/40,3 mmol/L Ca2+,0.007 49 mmol/L Zn2+. Conclusion Different carbohydrates and their concentration have significant effects on cell growth and gentiopicroside accumulation while high concentration of carbohydrates does not have such effect. NO3-is better than NH4+ for the cell growth. Ca2+ Remarkably influences both cell growth and gentiopicroside accumulation while Zn2+ contributes only to gentiopicroside content.

Objective To explore the effect of incision of the cervix renal calices for the treatment of complex intrarenal sinus renal calculi. Methods 52 cases of complex intrarenal sinus renal calculi with upper and/or lower calyx serious hydrops treated by incision of the cervix renal calices were studied. There were 38 men and 14 women. The mean age was 43 years (range,21 to 70 years). The mean diameter of the stones was 4.2 cm. Results The stones were totally removed in 44 cases.8 cases with residual stones were treated by percutaneous nephrolithotomy. The residual stones were totally removed in 4 cases while other 4 cases accepted further treatment with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL).No blood transfusion and postoperative bleeding were observed.24 cases were followed up of 0.5 to 4 years.KUB plus IVU were conducted postoperatively which showed improved hydronephrosis. No intrarenal stricture and renal calculi recurrence were observed. Conclusions The procedure has advantages of less bleeding, preservating more renal function, less postoperative complications, which has a good application in the treatment of complex intrarenal sinus renal calculi with upper and/or lower calyx serious hydrops.

Objective To screen the high-efficiency predominant bacteria which can decompound 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, the accelerant for producing latex, in the organic wastewater. Methods Sampling from manufacturing environment, we got the predominant bacteria by primary screening, isolating and functional tests, and performed simulated test ground decompounding tests by using all bacteria. The enrichment of the predominant bacteria was followed by screen and identification to select the high-efficiency bacteria. Results 75 strains of predominant bacteria were obtained by primary screening. The simulated decompounding tests were performed after the mixed bacteria were tamed. The ratio of elimination for chemical oxygen demand (COD) was about 60.8%-97.7%, and the average was 77.2%. The predominant bacteria adhered to the surface of the active carbon, the carrier, and formed the biological film. Through screening and identification the Bacillus cereus showed to be predominant (90%). Conclusion The technology of high-efficiency predominant bacteria can be used for decompounding 2-mercaptobenzothiazole in the organic wastewater.
8.The protection of spinal cord disfunction caused by acute ischemia
Chinese Journal of General Surgery 1993;0(01):-
Objective To evaluate ischemia preconditioning (IP) and intermittent ischemia (II) in ameliorating the incidence of paraplegia. MethodCross clamping of the infrarenal aorta in New-Zealand rabbit was used to establish a spinal cord ischemia model. 25 rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups. The continuous ischemia(CS) group (n=10) with the aorta clamped for 40 minutes. While in the IP group (n=6) the aorta was clamped for 3 sessions each lasting for 5 min, with 5 min interval between the sessions before 40 minutes clamping, in the Ⅱ group (n=9) the 40 min clamping was interposed by a 15 min interval. The muscle force of the lower extremity, the excitatory amino acid (EAA) in CSF, the malondiadehyde (MDA)in spinal cord and the pathology were compared between the groups.Result The muscle force of the lower extremity was better in Ⅱ and IP group than that in CS group (3.4?1.0) in Ⅱ, (3.5?0.8) in IP vs (1.3?1.4) in CS, all P

This paper reported a structured literature survey of research in wearable technology for upper-extremity rehabilitation. A keyword based search returned 61 papers related to this topic. Examination of the abstracts of these papers identified 18 articles describing distinct wearable systems aimed at upper extremity rehabilitation. They were classified in three categories depending on their functionality:posture and motion monitoring; monitoring and feedback systems that supported rehabilitation exercises; serious games for rehabilitation training. We characterized the state of the art considering respectively the reported performance of these technologies, availability of clinical evidence, or known clinical applications. Based on the insights from the review study, we proposed a smart rehabilitation garment system for variety of patient groups. The garment integrated with smart textiles and wearable electronics. It presented real-time feedback as a vibra-tion delivered through the garment, visual and audio instructions through Android-hand held device (smartphone or tablet).
