Objective To explore the expression of ankyrin-repeat SOCS box containing protein 2 (ASB2)and Janus kinase 3 (Jak3)mRNA in bone marrow plasma mononuclear cells of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)and discuss the correlation of them. Methods Bone marrow plasma was collected from 48 patients of newly diagnosed ALL (37 cases B-ALL and 11 cases T-ALL)and 34 non leukemia patients (control group),respectively.Expression levels of ASB2 and Jak3 mRNA were detected by real-time quantitative PCR.Results The expression of ASB2 mRNA in B-ALL and T-ALL were significantly different compared to control group (t =14.2,P <0.01;t =15.2,P <0.01),which were 68.5,32.7 folded more than control group, respectively. Moreover, the expression level of Jak3 mRNA in B-ALL group and T-ALL group were 2 336.1 and 7 131.5 folded more than control group (t =37.3,P <0.01;t =37.6,P <0.01). At last, the expression of ASB2 and Jak3 gene was positive correlation (r =0.523,P <0.001).Conclusion ASB2 and Jak3 are expressed abnormally in ALL patients and the correlation of them is positive.ASB2 and Jak3 may be related to the proliferation and differentiation in leukemia cells.

In 2008,the Ministry of Health,UNAIDS and the World Health Organization held a press conference, stating that sexual transmission had become a major route of transmission in China.Epidemiological research has shown that circumcision can be efficacious for males in reducing their risk of HIV acquisition via heterosexual activity. This article analyzes male circumcision as a HIV/AIDS prevention strategy from medical, public health and ethical perspectives.

Chinese Journal of Infectious Diseases 2001;0(06):-
Objective To study the morphologic and pathological characteristics of cat scratch disease(CSD).Methods Eight cases with clinical data and tissue blocks were collected in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Hainan Province. The tissues were successively stained by hematox- ylin and eosin,Warthin-Starry(W-S),acid fast and periodic acid-schiff(PAS)methods to study the histopathological changes and pathogens. Results W-S positive Bartonella henselae was the major pathogen of CSD and there was no acid-fast or PAS positive pathogen could be found in the tissues. There were three forms of histological representation as follows:plasmocytoid monocytes(PMO)and monocytoid B-cells(MBC)hyperplasia plus neutrophils immersion in lymphatic sinus(2 cases); MBC rich granuloma and micro-abscess formation(3 cases); starlit abscess with little or no bacteria in the granuloma(3 cases). Conclusions Bartonella henselae mainly transmits through cats.Contact histo- ry with cats and lymphadenectasis suggest the possibility of CSD.The diagnosis can be confirmed by the presence of W-S staining positive bacteria,MBC rich granuloma or micro-abscess and neutrophil reactions in histopathological exam.

Objective To understand and master the situation of residents consumption of iodized salt in Chenzhou city of Hunan province,to identify problems and take appropriate interventions to ensure the residents consumption of qualified iodized salt, and to provide a scientific basis for elimination of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD).Methods According to the National Iodized Salt Monitoring Program (Amendment) and the Evaluation Scheme for Elimination of Iodine Deficiency Disorders at the County Level, the monitoring counties, towns and villages were selected in Chenzhou city from 2008 to 2011,the content of iodine in salt was detected using direct titration. The data was analyzed by SPSS 17.0 and Excel 2003.Results A total of 12700 salt samples were tested from 2008 to 2011.The iodized salt coverage rate, the qualified rate of iodized salt, the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt and the rate of non-iodized salt was 99.19% (12597/12700),96.33% (12135/12597),95.55%(12135/12700) and 0.81% (103/12700),respectively.There were significant differences between each year from 2008 to 2011 (x2 =13.99、42.35、48.45、13.99,P all < 0.01).The coefficient of variation was 21.19%.The median and average of iodine content in salt samples was 32.2 mg/kg and 31.9 mg/kg,respectively.Compared with the median and average of iodized salt content, there was no significant difference between each year from 2008 to 2011 (t =2.941,P > 0.05),while there was significant difference among the 11 counties(t =2.983,P < 0.05).Conclusions The goal of eliminating IDD has realized in the city of Chenzhou since 2010.To consolidate the IDD control results, surveillance should be strengthened in future.

Objective To explore the clinical effect of posterior pedicle screw internal fixation in the treatment of multiple level noncontiguous thoracolumbar fractures. Methods Thirteen patients with multiple level noncontiguous thoracolumbar fractures were treated by posterior pedicle screw internal fixation. The Frankel score, percentage of vertebral compression and Cobb angle of the injured vertebral segment were analyzed to evaluate the surgery efficacy. Results All patients were followed up from 12 to 24 months ( averaged 15 months ).All cases achieved bone fusion with no implant failure. The Cobb angle of the injured vertebral segment was corrected from preoperative(22.2 ±5.3) degree to postoperative(5.3 ±3.5) degree and(6.2 ±3.6) degree at the last follow up.The percentage of vertebral compression was corrected from preoperative (45.7 ± 14.1 )% to postoperative ( 6.1 ± 3.8 ) % and ( 7.2 ± 3.9 ) % at the last follow up.All improvements showed significant differences when compared statistically( t =15.03,t =12.05,Ps <0.05 ).The spinal cord function was improved 1 to 2 degree in all patients except 2 patients of grade A.Conclusion The posterior fixation with pedicle screw is a secure, safe and effective method in treating multiple level noncontiguous thoracolumbar fracture.

BACKGROUND: As dental implants, pure titanium and Ti-6Al-4V has achieved broad clinical applications, but they also contain toxic vanadium and aluminum element. Moreover, their elastic modulus is so high as to produce stress shield. OBJECTIVE: To examine the micro-hardness and elastic modulus of the self-made Ti-30Nb-8Zr-2Mo titanium alloy. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: An observational experiment was performed at the laboratory of College of Material Science and Engineering at Hebei University of Technology between March 2003 and February 2006. MATERIALS: Titanium alloy was prepared using titanium sponge (≥ 99% purify), niobium strip (≥ 99.9% purify), molybdenum powder (≥ 99% purify) and zirconium sponge (≥ 99.4% purify).METHODS: The micro-hardness of the specimens was determined after uniformly annealing, hot-forging and solution. Compression test was conducted on post-aging samples. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Hardness and stress-strain curve.RESULTS: The maximal alloy strength was obtained after solution under 800 ℃ for 0.5 hours. Post-aging alloy's hardness was improved significantly although little change occurred on solution alloy. Compressive strength of alloy samples was 1 054 MPa, while elastic modulus reached 16.5 GPa. CONCLUSION: Both micro-hardness and elastic modulus of the self-made Ti-30Nb-8Zr-2Mo titanium alloy have satisfied performance requirements for dental implant materials.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2008;28(10):773-776
The 29 medical records about acupuncture and moxibustion in Zhenjiu Dacheng are involved in the internal, surgical, gynecological, pediatric and five sense organs diseases and symptoms. Analysis on characteristics of these medical records and absorbing experiences of predecessors can better guide clinical application. Analysis of results indicates that these medical records have the characteristics of combination of acupuncture, moxibustion and medicine, less and better point selection, and stressing reinforcing-reducing of manipulation, at the same time, it reflects YANG's train of thought in clinical diagnosis and treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion.
