Objective To investigate the correlation between AS160 hyperphosphorylation and 18Ffluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) uptaking in invasive breast cancer. Methods Thirty-nine primary breast caner patients received PET/CT scan before operation and their maximum standard uptake values (SUVmax) were recorded. The levels of p-AS160 (Thr642) were detected using immunohistochemical method in breast cancer tissues. The association between p-AS160 (Thr642) levels and SUVmax was assessed using the Spearman nonparametric test. Results The 18F-FDG uptake of tumors of the 39 patients with primary breast caner was 6.1 ± 2.7 (SUVmax). There was one false negative case in PET/CT scan imaging, compared with postoperative pathologic result. The positive rate of p-AS160 (Thr642) was 76.9%,and it was positively correlated with SUVmax (r =0.672,P < 0.001).Conclusion AS160 plays a significant role in the glucose metablism of breast cancer tissues and its hyperphosphorylation may contribute to the increased uptaking of glucose in patients with breast cancer.
4.Orthodontic treatment of dental arch transverse disharmony in complete unilateral cleft lip and palate patients.
Chinese Journal of Stomatology 2004;39(1):53-56
OBJECTIVETo investigate the dental arch discrepancy in UCLP patients and the characteristics of orthodontic treatment of this kind of patients.
METHODS48 Unilateral cleft lip and palate patients were examined clinically and dental arch transverse discrepancy were recorded. Treatment plan was made according to the maloccusion of each patient.
RESULTS(1). Dental arch transverse discrepancy was seen in 60.4%, bilateral posterior crossbite in 33.3%, and unilateral posterior crossbite in 16.7% of patients with UCLP, respectively. (2). Serious crossbite was often seen in bicuspid region, so expansion in this area is the main task of orthodontic treatment. (3). Dental arch transverse discrepancy was usually mild in molar region. The upper molars were moved palatally in 10.4% of patients with UCLP.
CONCLUSIONSUpper arch expansion is often needed in patients with UCLP, and the potential of dental arch expansion was large. The decision of upper tooth extraction in patients with moderate crowding should be made after dental arch expansion. Dental arch expansion should be done before alveolar bone grafting. Prolonged usage of the retainer is often needed.

OBJECTIVETo study the levels of CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the peripheral blood of children with epilepsy and the roles of Tregs in the pathogenesis of epilepsy.
METHODSForty-one children with epilepsy and thirty-eight healthy children were enrolled. The percentage of CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ Tregs in CD4+ T cells and the percentages of CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, nature killer (NK) cells and B cells in lymphocytes were evaluated by flow cytometry.
RESULTSThe percentages of peripheral blood CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ Tregs and CD4+ T cells and the ratio of CD4+ T cells to CD8+ T cells in epileptic children were (2.4±0.5)%, (35±5)% and 1.32±0.24 respectively, which were significantly lower than those in healthy children [(6.1±1.2)%, (38±4)% and 1.60±0.24 respectively; P<0.05]. In contrast, the percentages of CD8+ T cells, NK cells and B cells in lymphocytes in epileptic children were significantly higher than those in healthy children[(27±3)% vs (24±3)%, (11.1±5.1)% vs (8.5±1.9)% and (24±9)% vs (16±5)% respectively; P<0.05].
CONCLUSIONSThe abnormal percentage of CD4+ CD25+ Foxp3+ Tregs in the peripheral blood may be involved in the pathogenesis of epilepsy.

This study was aimed to explore the characteristics of urine metabolomics among HIV/AIDS patients with spleen-lung qi-deficiency. H-NMR technique was combined with principal component analysis and cluster analysis in the comparison of urine metabolic products among 24 HIV/AIDS cases with spleen-lung qi-deficiency and 20 healthy control cases. The results showed that urine metabolic products of HIV/AIDS patients with spleen-lung qi-deficiency and healthy people by H-NMR technique detection and PLS-DA analysis can classify the outline of urine metabolites. There were about 20 variables in the difference between two groups. The speculated substances contained glycyl-L-leucine, L-valine, α-aminobutyric acid, methyl succinic acid, glycine propionyl, and etc. It was concluded that H-NMR technique was able to classify the outline of urine metabolites between HIV/AIDS cases with spleen-lung qi-deficiency and healthy people. Part of the potential existed characteristic markers contributed to the clinical diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation of AIDS. It had certain effect in its quantitative analysis.

The noninvasive measurement of liver stiffness (LS) was evaluated by transient elastography (FibroScan) and the possible influencing factors from the patients' clinical situations including age, gender, liver inflammation represented by alanine transaminase (ALT) and total billirubin (TBIL) level, HBV replication (HBV DNA loads), portal vein pressure (portal vessel diameter, PVD), splenic thickness (SPT) and body mass index (BMI) were analyzed in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). A total of 466 patients including 31 patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), and 435 patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) among which 82 patients were diagnosed with liver cirrhosis (LC) by clinical manifestations and liver B-type ultrasonic inspection were enrolled at Tongji Hospital from April to December 2009. LS was measured by a FibroScan device (EchoSens, France). Simultaneously, ALT and TBIL levels, HBV DNA loads, PVD, SPT and BMI in all patients were also tested. Forty-one healthy volunteers served as controls. The values of LS were correlated positively with ages of CHB patients and significantly higher in males than in females. In patients with BMI>28 kg/m(2) (obesity) and abnormal levels of ALT and TBIL, LS values were significantly increased as compared with those having normal levels of ALT and TBIL. The patients with ACLF had the highest LS value. Furthermore, LS values in the patients with LC were significantly higher than those in patients without LC. It is concluded that noninvasive measurement of liver fibrosis by FibroScan provides an alternative method to evaluate liver fibrosis of patients with CHB. In order to properly illustrate the stiffness value taken by transient elastography, patients' gender should be taken into consideration and it is also suggested to avoid possible influencing factors including liver inflammation (high levels of ALT and TBIL) and obesity (high BMI).
