Objective To investigate the manifestation strategies of emotional labor and current status of emotional intelligence, further to discuss their correlation. Methods Investigation was carried out in 341 nurses by emotional labor scale(El.S) and emotional intelligence scale(EIS) and the results underwent analysis. Results In the aspect of emotional labor, nurses preferred natural manifestation instead of surface manifestation strategy.Nurses had strong ability of understanding and emotional control (P<0.01) but weak perceptual emotional ability(P<0.01).Emotional intelligence had higher predictive power for natural and inner presentation(P<0.01),but was no related with surface manifestation(P>0.05). Conclusions Different correlation existed between various manifestation strategies of emotional labor and emotional intelligence.Improvement of emotional intelligence can facilitate the application of natural manifestation and inner presentation.

Objective To investigate the protective effects of midazolam on noise-induced hearing loss in guinea pigs by testing reactive oxygen species (ROS) level in the cochlea and plasma SOD and MDA. Methods Totally forty male pigmented guinea pigs were randomly divided into four groups: control (C) , midazolam (M), normal saline (S) and noise-induced deafened (D) groups, with ten guinea pigs in each. Groups M, S and D were exposed to a continuous noise (4kHz , octave band, 100dB SPL) 3h every day for 3 consecutive days. Group M was treated with midazolam, which was administered intramuscularly (0.1mg/kg) 24h before noise exposure, and immediately upon and during noise exposure. Group S was exposed to noise and treated with the same volume of normal saline intramuscularly, the time of injection was the same as that of Group M. Group C was not exposed to noise, but was treated with midazolam intramuscularly, the time of injection and the dosage were the same as those of Group M. Group S was exposed to noise and treated with normal saline intramuscularly ,the time of injection was same with that of Group M.Group D was exposed to noise only. All animals received auditory brainstem response (ABR) threshold recording before and immediately after noise exposure. Blood was collected when the guinea pigs were killed after the last ABR threshold recording, and serum SOD activity and MDA content were detected. Both the cochleae were removed and prepared for ROS assay. Results After noise exposure, ABR threshold shift (1.6±1.5) and ROS content [(291.10±2.30)u/mL] in Group M were significantly lower than those in Groups S and D [41.7±3.3, 44.3±3.9; (348.52±3.60)u/mL, (315.56±6.70)u/mL, P<0.05]. Serum SOD activity and MDA content were significantly increased in Group M, but the amplitude was less than that in Groups S and D.Conclusion Midazolam can prevent noise-induced hearing loss by reducing the increased ROS level in the cochlea after noise exposure.

Objective To study the signal transduction pathway for myocyte contraction induced by Substance K (SK) in rats. Methods The fluorescent Ca 2+ indicator Fluo 3AM was used to quantitate the calcium signal directly in the primary cultured myocardial cells. Changes of free Ca 2+ concentration in cardiac myocytes were detected by flow cytometry. The phospholipase C (PLC) inhibitor, neomycin and IP3 receptor antagonist, heparin, were used to block signal system of phosphates Ca 2+ in order to investigate whether they took part in the SK induced changes of [Ca 2+ ]i in myocytes. Results SK(1.78?10 -5 mol/L) elevated [Ca 2+ ]i in myocytes. The effects could be blocked by neomycin and heparin. Conclusion SK can elevate [Ca 2+ ]i in myocyte, which may be mediated by a signal system of phosphates Ca 2+ .

Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2011;44(9):639-642
ObjectiveTo investigate baicalin effect against ultraviolet A (UVA) induced senescence in cultured human skin fibroblasts(HSF) and influence on telomere pathway. MethodsHSF were isolated from the prepuce of neonates and cultured. Subconfluent fibroblasts were classified into blank control group (without treatment), baicalin group (treated with baicalin of 50 μg/ml), UVA group (irradiated with UVA of 10 J/cm2) and UVA + baicalin group(irradiated with UVA of 10 J/cm2 and treated with baicalin of 50 μg/ml before and after the irradiation). After additional culture of various durations, flow cytometry was performed to detect cell cycle, telomere repeat amplification protocol-enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (TRAP-ELISA) to measure telomerase activity, real-time quantitative PCR to determine telomere length, mRNA levels of p53, p16 and c-myc, Western blot to examine the protein expressions of p16 and c-myc. ResultsUVA irradiation induced cell cycle arrest in G1 phase, and the percentage of HSF at G1 phase increased from 59.94% in the blankcontrol group to 81.04% in the UVA group, but was decreased to 65.55% in the UVA + baicalin group. The length of telomere in HSF in UVA group was shortened to 31.2% of that in the blank control group, but was restored to 63.9% in HSF treated with baicalin before and after the irradiation. Compared with the blank control group, the expression level of p53 and p16 mRNA was increased to 2.93 ± 0.21 and 2.14 ± 0.09, respectively, while that of c-myc mRNA decreased to 0.53 ± 0.03 in the UVA group; baicalin could inhibit these changes. Similarly, Western blot showed that after UVA irradiation the protein expression level of p16 increased to 5.84 ± 0.16, while that of c-myc decreased to 0.35 ± 0.04 in HSF compared with that in the blank control group; baicalin treatment before and after the irradiation induced no significant changes in the protein expres sion of c-myc, but a decline in that of p16 (4.09 ± 0.13, P < 0.05). Telomerase activity was undetected in any of these groups. ConclusionsBaicalin can delay the photoaging process of HSF, which may be attributed to the regulation of expression of senescence-related genes such as p53, but not to telomerase activity.

Objective: To investigate the expressions of SDF-1 and CXCR4 in human endometrial carcinoma tissues. Methods: SDF-1 and CXCR4 protein expression levels were detected by immunohistochemical staining in 26 cases of atypic hyperplasia endometrium, simple hyperplasia endometrium and normal endometrium and 44 cases of endometrial carcinoma tissues. Results: Both SDF-1 mRNA and CXCR4 mRNA were expressed in Ishikawa, while no expression of SDF-1 mRNA was detected in HEC-1A.The rates of CXCR4 and SDF-1 protein expressions were 100% in glandular cells of human normal endometrial tissues, while 90.9% and 93.2% in glandular cells of endometrial carcinoma tissues. These immunoreactivities of SDF-1 and CXCR4 were significantly low in endometrial carcinoma tissues as compared with those in normal endometrium;and the intensities of immunohistochemical staining significantly decreasesd in immunoreactivity of SDF-1 and CXCR4 in low grade as compared with that in hight grade. Conclusion: SDF-1 and CXCR4 were expressed differently in endometrial cell lines, human normal endometrial tissues, and endometrial carcinoma tissues. As compared with normal endometrium ,these were significantly low levels expression of SDF-1 and CXCR4 in endometrial carcinoma tissues.
