Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS),a neurodegenerative disorder,is subtle in disease onset, difficult to diagnose, and fast-growing at progression.There.are at present little specific neurological imaging characteristics of ALS.Functional brain imaging techniques, such as SPECT and PET,were the early tools for investigation of ALS.The application of pixel-based analysis software (such as SPM) renders research in this area more convenient and objective. In recent years, improvement in brain receptor PET imaging has demonstrated its important value in the early diagnosis of ALS and evaluation of cognitive impairment.

Objective To explore the clinical value of transvaginal three-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound in assessing effects of Chinese herbal drugs on improving endometrial receptivity in patients with thin endometrium. Methods A total of 76 cases of patients diagnosed with thin endometrium in Jiangbei District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2015 to October 2016 were selected and treated with Chinese herbal prescription for three months. The endometrial thickness, endometrial volume and blood flow indexes before and after treatment were measured by using transvaginal three-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound. Results After 3 months treatment, the endometrial thickness and endometrial volume were increased, and the pulse index (PI) and resistance index (RI) of endometrial blood flow were decreased, compared with those before treatment, there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The results of three-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound indicates that after 3 months treatment the vascularization index (VI),flow index (FI) and vascularization flow index (VFI) were significantly higher than those before treatment, there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusion The Chinese herbal prescription could increase the thickness and volume of endometrium, augment blood supply, and improve endometrial receptivity significantly.Transvaginal color three-dimensional Doppler ultrasound is a convenient and objective method for evaluating clinical efficacy of Chinese herbal prescription in patients with thin endometrium, which has high practical value.

This study was aimed to assay the antibacterial activity of compounds from Rabdosia rubescens. Disc dif-fusion (K-B method) was used to screen the in vitro antibacterial activity. All kinds of chromatography were used to isolate the chemical constituent and structure was identified by MS and NMR spectroscopy. The results showed that six compounds were isolated and identified as oridonin (1), rosmarinic acid (2), caffeic acid (3), salicylic acid (4), ferulic acid (5), vanillic acid (6). Oridonin had activity against Staphylococcus aureus (SA), Methcillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), β-lactamase positive Staphylococcus aureus (ESBLs-SA), and showed the highest ac-tivity (MIC is 3.125, 6.25 and 6.25 μg·disc-1, respectively), but was still weaker than that of berberine as positive control (MIC is 0.156 μg·disc-1). Ferulic acid had activity against SA and MRSA (MIC is 50 and 50 μg·disc-1, re-spectively). Salicylic acid had only activity against SA (MIC 50 μg·disc-1). It was concluded that oridonin, ferulic acid and salicylic acid were the main antibacterial activity compounds from R. rubescens.

Objective To explore the optimal power of experimental pancreatic endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) therapy. Methods Six healthy live minipigs were randomly divided into two groups according to random number table, which received RFA under EUS or in laparotomy. Each pig in each group was randomly allocated to received RFA at different power (5 W,10 W,15 W).The impedance was monitored and the time for each therapy was recorded. The width diameter of coagulation necrosis from RFA was measured by EUS and gross pathology. Results RFA was completed in all pigs smoothly with stable life signs and without complications.Gross and micro pathologic observation confirmed formation of coagulation necrosis lesions. The width diameter of lesions from EUS-RFA was similar to that from surgery RFA,both having a maximum value at 10 W power (11 nun VS 10 mm). Conclusion The optimal power of experimental pancreatic EUS-RFA in pig is 10W,which should be further explored for the clinical purpose.

Objective To evaluate the biomechanical effect of cortical screw support technique in fixation of the femoral neck fractures. Methods The models of subcapital femoral neck fracture were made in eight matched pairs of embamled cadaver femurs and decided into experiment group and control group (four pairs per group). The side of experiment group was fixed using three cannulated compression screws with cortical screw support and that of control group with conventional screw placement. The speci-mens in two groups were tested in aspects of torsion and axial loading. Results In axial load test at load of 600 N and 800 N, the displacements in cortical screw support group were (0.677±0.135) mm and (0.907±0.132) mm respectively, while those of femoral head in conventional screw placement group were (0.899±0.160) mm and (1.202±0.152) nun respectively (P <0.05). There was signifi-cant difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). The maximal vertical loading for failure of the fixa-tion was (2 782±228) N in cortical screw support group and (1 950±281) N in conventional screw placement group (P < 0.01). In torsibility test at 4° and 6° torsibility, the torque-moments of cortical screw support group were (10.406±1.515) Nm and (15.328 ±1.471) Nm respectively and those of conventional screw placement group (6.628±1.163) Nm and (9.072±1.570) Nm respectively, with statistical difference between two groups (P <0.01). The maximal torque-moment for failure of the fixa-tion was (25.437±5.213) Nm in cortical screw support group and (13.235±3.012) Nm in conven-tional screw placement group (P < 0.01). Conclusion Fixation of femoral neck fractures by using cortical screw support can significantly enhance anti-torsion and anti-compression of internal fixation.

Objective: To investigate the differential expression of Sox9 in conventional chondrosarcoma, dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma and normal cartilage. Methods: We reported 12 cases of chondrosarcomas, which were initially diagnosed as chondrosarcomas(6 cases of conventional chondrosarcoma and 6 cases of dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma)at Peking University People's Hospital between January 2003 and January 2007.We used genechip method to identify difierentially expressed genes involved in conventional chondrosarcoma, dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma and in normal cartilage(6 cases)and found thousands of differentially expressed genes after extensive statistical analysis. With Sox9 which played crucial roles in the process of both differentiation and maturation of chondrocyte as a candidate,we used Real-time PCR,Westem blot and immunohistochemistry to confirm the results found by gene chip. Results: DNA microarray results showed that Sox9 was up-regulated about 1.6 times in conventional chondrosarcoma compared with that in normal cartilage. But in dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma, the expression level of Sox9 was significantly down-regulated,0.082 times of that in normal cartilage.Real-time PCR results showed that the expression levels of Sox9 mRNA in conventional chondrosarcomas and dedifferentiated chondrosarcomas were 1.68±0.119 and 0.088±0.017,respectively.Sox9 protein level was significantly higher in humen conventional chondrosarcomas than that in normal cartilage.Sox9 protein level in dedifferentiated chondrosarcomas was significantly lower than that in normal cartilage tissue. All of the 6 cases of conventional chondrosarcomas showed diffuse and strong staining of Sox9.However,Only scattered staining was observed in dedifferentiated chondrosarcomas. Conclusion: Compared with that in normal cartilage,Sox9 expression is up-regulated in conventional chondrosarcomas and down-regulated in dedifferentiated chondrosarcomas.Decrease of Sox9 expression in dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma is correlated with poor survival, indicating that Sox9 may serve as a molecular prognostic marker for chondrosarcomas and disease progression.
