In order to improve the efficacy of vibration expectoration and prevent secondary injury in patients with chest trauma, the body surface marking method was used in vibration expectoration. The exact injured locations and areas were identified via CT ot X-ray results. Then, the restricted and focused areas of expectoration were marked with red and green colors, which could guide the machines to avoid the fracture sites, reduce pain, prevent secondary injury and administrate effective expectoration in the areas of sputum and atelectasis. However, the dynamic CT or X-ray results must be used for reference to ensure the accuracy of the body surface marking.

Neurology Asia 2017;22(2):133-138
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether there is an association between Parkinson’s
disease (PD) and colorectal cancer in Taiwan. Methods: This was a case-control study using claim
data of the Taiwan National Health Insurance Program. There were 64,619 subjects aged 20-84 with
newly diagnosed colorectal cancer as cases and 64,619 randomly selected subjects without colorectal
cancer as controls from 2005 to 2011. Both cases and controls were matched by sex, age, comorbidities,
and index year of diagnosing colorectal cancer. Subjects who were diagnosed with PD within 5 years
of diagnosing colorectal cancer were excluded. The multivariable logistic regression model was used
to estimate the adjusted odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) for risk of colorectal
cancer associated with PD. Results: After adjusting for confounding factors, the multivariable logistic
regression analysis revealed that the adjusted OR of colorectal cancer was 0.69 for subjects with PD
more than 5 years before index date (95% CI 0.59, 0.81), as compared with subjects without PD.
Conclusion: PD is associated with reduced odds of colorectal cancer. Further research is needed to
elucidate the mechanisms underlying our findings.

Objective To investigate the serum concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its soluble receptor 1 (sFlt-1) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and its correlation with clinic and pathologic parameters. Methods serum levels of VEGF and sFlt-1 in a group of 60 patients with SLE and 30 healthy controls were assessed by ELISA.Results The VEGF and sFlt-1 serum levels were higher in active SLE group than the control group (P<0.01).The VEGF/sFlt-1 ratio in the control group was lower than that in the active SLE group.inactive SLE group and LN group (P<0.01).Particularly the ratio increased in WHO class Ⅴ LN group compared to WHO classⅡ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ LN group (P<0.05).The semm level of sFlt-1 was correlated to proteinuria (rs=0.6244,P<0.01) and ESR (rs=0.4235,P<0.01) and the serum levels of VEGF and sFlt-1 were correlated to the systemic lupus erythematosus disease activation index (SLEDAI) (rs=0.5046,P<0.01 and rs=0.5152,P<0.01,respectively).The serum level of VEGF was correlated with renal tissue activation index (RAI) (rs=0.3386.P<0.05) and the serum levels of VEGF and sFlt-1 were not correlated to blood pressure, serum creatine, blood ureanitmgen,C3,C4,C-reative protein. The muhi-factors stepwise regression analysis indicated that serum VEGF was positively correlated with SLEDAI (R2=0.1 75,P<0.05),serum sFlt-1 was positively correlated with ESR and proteinurine (R2=0.497,P<0.05).Conclusion Serum VEGF and sFlt-1 are elevated in patients with active SLE and they can reflect the activity of the disease. The overcxpression of serum VEGF might be correlated to the proliferated glomerulonephritis and the overexpression of sFlt-1 contribhtes to proteinurla. The imbalance between these two factors may act an important role in SLE pathogenesis.

Referring to the rules for agricultural seed testing (GB /T 3543-1995) issued by China, the test of sampling, seed purity, weight per 1 000 seeds, seed moisture, seed viability and germination rate had been studied for screening seed quality test methods of Pesudostellaria heterophylla. The seed quality from different collection areas was measured. The results showed that at least 6.5 g seeds should be sampled and passed through 10-mesh sieve for purity analysis. The weight of 1 000 seeds was determined by using the 500-seed method. The phenotypic observation and size measurement were used for authenticity testing. The seed moisture was determined under the higher temperature (130 ± 2) degrees C for 5 hours. The seeds were dipped into 0.2% TTC sustaining 1 hour at 40 degrees C, then the viability could be determined. The break dormancy seeds were cultured on sand at 10 degrees C. K cluster analysis was applied for the data analysis, the seed quality from different collection areas grading of P. Heterophylla was described as three grades. The seed quality of each grade should reach following requirements: for first grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 86%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.59 g, purity ≥ 87%, moisture ≤ 13.1%; for second grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 70%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.40 g, purity ≥ 77%, moisture ≤ 14.3%; for third grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 41%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.29 g, purity ≥ 76%, moisture ≤ 15.8%. The seed testing methods for quality items of P. heterophylla had been initially established, as well as the primary P. heterophylla seed quality classification standard.

The antibody against AT1-EC2 plays a role in some kinds of inflammatory vascular diseases including malignant hypertension, preeclampsia, and renal-allograft rejection, but the detailed mechanisms remain unclear. In order to investigate the changes of NADPH oxidase and reactive oxygen species in the aorta in a mouse model which can produce AT1-EC2 antibody by active immunization with AT1-EC2 peptide, 15 mice were divided into three groups: control group, AT1-EC2-immunized group, and AT1-EC2-immunized and valsartan-treated group. In AT1-EC2-immunized group and AT1-EC2-immunized and valsartan-treated group, the mice were immunized by 50 μg peptide subcutaneously at multiple points for 4 times: 0, 5, 10, and 15 days after the experiment. In AT1-EC2-immunized and valsartan-treated group, valsartan was given at a dose of 100 mg/kg every day for 20 days. After the experiment, the mice were sacrificed under anesthesia and the aortas were obtained and frozen in liquid nitrogen for the preparation of frozen section slides and other experiments. The titer of AT1-EC2 was assayed by using ELISA. The level of NOX1 mRNA in the aorta was determined by using RT-PCR. The expression of NOX1 was detected by using Western blotting. Confocal scanning microscopy was used to assay the α-actin and NOX1 expression in the aortic tissue. The O(2)∸ production was detected in situ after DHE staining. The mice produced high level antibody against AT1-EC2 in AT1-EC2-immunized group and AT1-EC2-immunized and valsartan-treated group, and the level of NOX1 mRNA in the aortic tissues was 1.6±0.4 times higher and the NOX1 protein expression was higher in AT1-EC2-immunized group than in control group. There were no significant differences in the level of NOX1 mRNA and protein expression between control group and AT1-EC2-immunized and valsartan-treated group. The expression and co-localization of α-actin and NOX1 in AT1-EC2-immunized group increased significantly as compared with those in control group, and the O(2)∸ production increased about 2.7 times as compared with control group. There were no significant differences between control group and AT1-EC2-immunized and valsartan-treated group. It is concluded that active immunization with AT1-EC2 can activate NOX1-ROS, and increase vascular inflammation, which can be inhibited by AT1 receptor blocker valsartan. This may partially explain the mechanism of the pathogenesis of inflammatory vascular diseases related to antibody against AT1-EC2.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate whether there is a relationship between
Parkinson’s disease and pancreatic cancer in Taiwan. Methods: This was a case-control study using
claim data of the Taiwan National Health Insurance Program. There were 13,861 subjects aged 20-
84 with newly diagnosed pancreatic cancer as cases and 55,444 randomly selected subjects without
pancreatic cancer as controls from 1998 to 2011. Cases and controls were matched by sex, age and
index year of diagnosing pancreatic cancer. The association of pancreatic cancer with Parkinson’s
disease was evaluated by the multivariable logistic regression model to estimate the adjusted odds
ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Results: After adjusting for confounding factors
including acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes mellitus, biliary stone, alcoholism, hepatitis
B and hepatitis C, the multivariable logistic regression analysis showed the adjusted OR of pancreatic
cancer was 0.82 for subjects with Parkinson’s disease (95% CI 0.55, 1.21), as compared with subjects
without Parkinson’s disease.
Conclusion: No association is detected between Parkinson’s disease and pancreatic cancer.
