β-arrestins, a kind of important adaptor protein and signal transduction protein found in the purification process ofβ-adrenergic receptor kinase (β-ARK) ,were first identified as pro-teins that have the ability to desensitize G protein-coupled recep-tors ( GPCR) . Fibrosis is defined by the overgrowth, hardening, and scarring of various tissues and is attributed to excess deposi-tion of extracellular matrix ( ECM ) components including colla-gen . A large number of studies have shown thatβ-arrestins play an important role in the process of fibrotic diseases, involved in inflammatory response and excess deposition of ECM. This re-view discusses the research status and development prospects ofβ-arrestins-mediated fibrotic diseases.

Objective To explore HLA-DQA1 and DQB1 alleles in their association with genetic susceptibility to psoriasis vulgaris(PV) in Han Chinese. Method Polymerase chain reaction sequence specific primers (PCR-SSP) method was used to analyze the frequencies of HLA-DQA1 and DQB1 alleles among 189 patients with PV and 273 healthy controls. Results ①HLA-DQA1*0104 and DQA1*0201 alleles were positively associated with PV (Pc

A novel raw-starch-digesting glucoamylase producer,Rhizopus sp.W-08,was used in a novel fermentation system of solid-state followed by submerged, and high enzyme activity of 72 IU/mL was obtained. In the following simultaneous saccharification and fermentation process, Saccharomyces cerevisiae Z-06 directly converted raw corn flour to ethanol with the concentration of 21 % (V/V) at 30℃ after 48h.The conversion efficiency of raw corn flour to ethanol was 94.5 % of the theoretical ethanol yield.

Objective To evaluate the effect of exogenous hydrogen sulfide (H2 S) on myocardial damage induced by renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats. Methods Thirty pathogen-free male Wistar rats, weighing 250-300 g,were randomized into 3 groups (n =10 each) using a random number table:sham operation group (S group); myocardial damage induced by renal I/R group (I/R group); NaHS group.Renal I/R was induced by occlusion of the left kidney for 120 min followed by 60 min reperfusion in anesthetized rats.In NaHS group,NaHS 100 μg/kg was injected intraperitoneally at 20 min before reperfusion. At the end of reperfusion, the rats were sacrificed and the hearts were obtained for determination of malondialdehyde (MDA) content and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity in myocardial tissues and for microscopic examination. Results Compared with S group,MDA content was significantly increased, and GSH-Px activity was decreased in I/R and NaHS groups.Compared with I/R group,MDA content was significantly decreased, and GSH-Px activity was increased in NaHS group. The pathological changes of myocardium were significantly attenuated in NaHS group as compared with I/R group. Conclusion Exogenous H2 S can alleviate myocardial damage induced by renal I/R in rats.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the treatment characteristics of secretory otitis media (SOM) in cleft palate children.
METHODSA total of 319 patients (524 ears) with SOM and cleft palate (3-14 years old) who accepted treatment were divided into experiment group A, group B, and group C according to effusion characteristics in the middle ear and tympanic pressure. Group A included 112 patients with serous effusion (198 ears). Group B included 162 patients with mucinous effusion (248 ears). Group C included 45 patients (78 ears) with negative pressure in the middle ear without effusion and an acoustic immittance. A total of 208 patients (246 ears) with SOM and tonsil and adenoid hypertrophy were divided into control group Al, group B1, and group Cl matched with the same effusion characteristics in the middle ear and tympanic pressure. Group A and Al accepted puncture in the tympanic cavity, group B and B1 accepted tympanostomy tubes, and group C and Cl accepted puncture in the tympanic cavity after palatoplasty, adenoidectomy, and tonsillectomy. All groups were treated with antibiotics and ear drops. Cure rate and recurrence rate between the experiment group and the control group were compared.
RESULTSThe control group had a better cure rate [93.09% (229/246)] than the experiment group [77.29% (405/524)] 12 months after treatment. The experiment group had a higher recurrence rate [14.57% (59/405)] than the control group [3.93% (9/229)]. Statistical differences were observed between the two groups (P<0.05). SOM with cleft palate initially had a low cure rate, and thus it was treated repeatedly for many times.
CONCLUSIONSOM with cleft palate is different from normal otitis media in terms of clinical manifestation, treatment, outcome, and prognosis. This case should be considered a special otitis media to be treated with special examination and therapy to obtain better results. Repeated puncture in the tympanic cavity and tympanostomy tubes for six months according to effusion characteristics are better treatment options for patients with SOM and cleft palate.

Objective To explore the imaging characteristics and clinical value of multispectral cystoscopy. Methods From May 2011 to May 2013,31 male and 4 female patients were included in this study, including benign prostatic hyperplasia in 14 patients, bladder tumor in 16 patients, upper urinary tract disease alone in 5 patients. The mean age in this group was 56 years (range 43 to 84 years). All patients accepted the bladder CT scan for diagnosis.TURBT procedure and pathological examination were performed in those patients with bladder tumor.Under the epidural anesthesia, the 27 F resectoscope was inserted to bladder through the urethra. Then, the conventional light source was replaced by multispectral endoscope light source. The white light,UV-light (401.0 nm),blue light (467.6 nm),green light (534.2nm),red light (660.6 nm),and near-infrared light (763.8 nm) were used, subseqently.Meanwhile, the following data were recorded, such as the visibility of bladder cavity, the color of bladder tumors and bladder mucosa, the density of blood vessels,three-dimensional structure of blood vessels, the mobility between mucosa and submucosa. Results When UV-light and near-infrared light irradiated bladders, there were not any imaging on monitor. However, the bladder mucosa and submucosa blood vessels were showed clearly and constituted the three-dimensional blood vessel network when using green light. The density of blood vessels in mucosal and submucosal layer was increased but less clarity when using blue light. The mucosal surface was covered in red when using red light, which vascular and mucosal can not able to be distinguished.Among 16 patients who were accepted the TURBT procedure, seven cases with T1 stage tumors were resected to the submucosa by TURBT.The superficial muscle layer with integrity structure could be observed under white light. While, blood vessels were not appeared when using green light. In six cases with Ta stage tumors, the clear connection of blood spots between mucous blood vessels and the blood vessel from the tumor could be observed under the green-light conditions. In three patients with Tis stage tumors, the mucosal blood vessels were normal under the white-light after tumor resection. However, structural disorder could be found under the green-light,which should be highly suspected as Tis stage tumors. Conclusions Without any photosensitizer or fluorescent dye, tumor blood vessels and bladder mucosal vascular can be showed under the green light. This technique is useful for identify the minimal tumor and evaluate the carcinoma infiltrated depth.
