Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(09):-
Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of aspirin for type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).(Methods)Electronic database searching was performed on Medline,Cochrane Library and CBM,and the data from the beginning of the database to October 2005 were included.Randomised and quasi-randomised trials concerning aspirin treatment for T2DM were selected and assessed for the methodological quality, and the extracted data were performed Meta-analysis by statistical software RevMan4.2.8. Results Fourteen randomised and quasi-randomised trials met the inclusion criteria, including 7 papers of aspirin treatment for T2DM,3 papers of aspirin treatment for cardiovascular complication of T2DM and 4 papers of aspirin treatment for type 2 diabetic retinopathy.Compared with placebo treatment, aspirin showed significant positive effects on lowering blood glucose(SMD,0.73;95%CI,(-1.11 ~-0.36;)P=0.0001).In diabetic patients, aspirin treatment was associated with a significant reduction in the total cardiovascular events(RR,0.78;95%CI,0.68 ~ 0.98;P=0.03).Aspirin treatment neither lowered(nor increased) the risk of the development of diabetic retinopathy(RR,1.02;95% CI,0.97 ~ 1.07;P=0.54).(Conclusion Aspirin treatment) can be a choice for T2DM,especially for the patients who have evidence of cardiovascular disease or have high risks for cardiovascular disease.
5.Construction and Expression of Recombinant Wild Lipoprotein Lipase Gene Plasmid
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(09):-
Objective To study the construction of recombinant wild lipoprotein lipase(LPL) gene plasmid and its expression in COS-1 cells. Methods The LPL cDNA was isolated from the human epiploon adipose tissue by means of RT-PCR.The LPL cDNA was ligated into the pcDNA3.1Zeo(+).The recombinant pcDNA3.1Zeo(+)-LPL cDNA was identified by endonucleases,PCR and DNA sequencing.COS-1 cells were transfected with the recombinant LPL gene plasmid using Lipofectamine 2000~(TM).The LPL mass in cells and the culture medium were determined by a Markit-M LPL Kit.Spectrophotometry was used to measure the LPL activity. Results The LPL gene was ligated into the pcDNA3.1Zeo(+) plasmid identified by endonucleases and PCR.The sequence of the LPL gene was the same as the sequence of the Gene Bank identified by DNA sequencing.Wild pcDNA3.1Zeo(+)-LPL(cDNA) plasmids was transformed into the COS-1 cells. Conclusion The recombinant plasmid pcDNA3.1Zeo(+)-LPL cDNA could be constructed and successfully transformed into the COS-1 cells.

7.Impact of obesity on women with polycystic ovary syndrome
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(11):-
Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS),one of the most common causes of anovulation-induced infertility,is largely dependent on the influence of obesity and metabolic alterations, including an insulinresistant state and the metabolic syndrome, which consistently affect most women with PCOS.The clinical phenotype and the pathophysiological interact between obesity and PCOS have also been changed obviously in these paitients.Obesity has profound effects on the reproductive function of PCOS women and, particularly the abdominal phenotype, may add to the chances of androgen excess,PCOS,insulin resistance and hyperinsulinaemia.Obesity plays an important role in the pathogenesis of PCOS and obesity-associated metabolic alterations have a long-term impact on the patients' health.

OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the efficacy of sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) with Dermatophagoides farinae drops for allergic rhinitis (AR) of different symptom severity.
METHOD:
This retrospective analysis to receive SLIT treatment of 143 cases of patients with allergic rhinitis, according to the severity of disease symptoms divid- ed into two groups, moderate group (62 patients) and severe group (81 patients). Before SLIT and after SLIT for half year, 1 year and 1. 5-2.0 years, the TNSS, TMS and sign scores of patients with allergic rhinitis were evaluated.
RESULT:
The TNSS, TMS and sign scores had continuously improved significantly after SLIT for half year, 1 year and 1.5-2.0 years in two groups as compared with baseline (P < 0.05). Before SLIT, TNSS and sign scores of severe group had a significantly higher level than moderate group (Z = 10.40, 2.40, P < 0.05), while TMS of two groups had no significant differences (Z = 0.00, P > 0.05). Half year after SLIT treatment, in two groups for sign scores, there were significant differences (Z = 3.32, P < 0.05), and there were no significant differences for TNSS (Z = 1.58, P > 0.05) and TMS (Z = 0.37, P > 0.05). 1 and 1.5-2.0 years after SLIT, there were no significant differences in two groups for TNSS, TMS and sign scores (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSION
SLIT with Dermatophagoides farinae drops for 1.5-2.0 years is effective in the patients with allergic rhinitis of different symptom severity. And equivalent efficacy could be achieved for different symptom severity.

Objective To study the expression of microtubule-associated protein-2 (MAP-2) in the CA3 region of the hippocampus and any effect of acupuncture combined with exercise training on the recovery of learning and memory after experimental cerebral infarction. Methods Eighty Wistar rats were randomly divided into a sham-operation group (n = 8 ) and an operation group (n = 72 ) subdivided randomly and equally into a model group, an exercisetraining group and an acupuncture plus exercise training group, with 24 rats in each group. After right middle cerebral artery occlusion or a mock operation, the expression of MAP-2 in the CA3 region of the hippocampus was detected with immunohistochemistry 1, 3 and 5 weeks after the operation. Learning and memory function was assessed at the 5th week post operation. Results MAP-2- positive fibers were arranged in an orderly way and distributed densely in the shamoperation group. After cerebral infarction, number of MAP-2 positive neurons and dendrite fibers decreased in the CA3 region of the affected side. A week after the operation, MAP-2 positive fibers had increased significantly in the acupuncture plus exercise group compared with the model group and the exercise group. At the 3rd and 5th week post operation, expression of MAP-2 and optical density had increased significantly compared with the model group and the exercise training group. At the 5th week post operation, Y maze discrimination and learning tests showed that learning and memory had improved significantly more in the acupuncture plus exercise training group compared with the model group and the exercise training group. Conclusions Exercise training combined with acupuncture can promote changes in dendritic plasticity and increase MAP-2 expression in the CA3 region after cerebral infarction. This may be correlated positively with the recovery of learning and memory after cerebral infarction, at least in rats.
