Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(09):-
A novel method for assaying the enzymatic activity of ribosome-inactivating proteins(RIPs) has been developed. The principle of the method is based on that RIP can remove some adenine bases from double-stranded supercoiled DNA molecules, subsequently, the deadenylated DNA was cleaved into nicked and linear form. After treatment with acidic aniline, the deadenylated DNA was degraded into many small fragments, and run out of the gel.The enzymatic activities of two RIPs(trichosanthin and cinnamomin) were tested using this method, the limit of sensitivity is about 50 ng(trichosanthin) and 5 ng(reduced cinnamomin) .It should be emphasized that the merit of this method is to avoid the preparation of ribosome.

OBJECTIVE:
To carry on the quality assessment of the case reports published in .
METHODS:
The case reports were retrieved electronically published in from 2006 to 2016. The was adopted to assess the quality of case report, in which, 15 items were included. The percentage of each item was calculated as the quality score.
RESULTS:
Totally, 288 case reports were included. The reports on the title, patient's information, clinical manifestations and treatment measures were quite complete (accounting to over 90%). But the report was limited on the key words, abstract, background and the informed consent. The overall quality score was low (accounting to 88.19%). Of 288 case reports, only 34 case reports (accounting to 11.81%) were of the high quality. The overall quality score of the inclusive literatures was in the range from 29 to 31 points.
CONCLUSION
It is necessary to improve the quality of case report on acupuncture and moxibustion. It is anticipated to develop the writing guideline for the case report on acupuncture and moxibustion for the contribution to the development of acupuncture and moxibustion.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases 2022;15(3):193-199
Objective:To investigate the pathological characteristics in chronic HBV infection patients with different upper limits of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) normal values and the influencing factors of liver tissue injury. Methods:The clinical data of 667 chronic HBV infection patients with ALT<40 U/L and HBV DNA loads >30 IU/mL who received liver biopsy in Zhenhai District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hwa Mei Hospital from January 2014 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The enrolled patients were divided into ALTⅠ group (<30 U/L for males, <19 U/L for females), ALTⅡ group (≥30 U/L and <35 U/L for males, ≥19 U/L and <25 U/L for females) and ALT Ⅲ group (≥35 U/L and <40 U/L for males, ≥25 U/L and <40 U/L for females). According to the degree of liver inflammation (G) and fibrosis stage (S), the enrolled patients were divided into non-significant damage group (G<2 and S<2) and significant damage group (≥G2 or/and ≥S2). Ridit analysis was used to compare the G/S composition ratio among three ALT groups, Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of liver injury, the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) and the area under the curve (AUC) were used to analyze the optimal diagnostic threshold of ALT.Results:There were significant differences in the composition ratio of G and S among the three ALT groups( χ2=13.926 and 14.702, both P<0.001). The constituent ratios of significant liver pathological damage in the three groups of ALT levels were 26.05% (99/380), 32.03% (41/128) and 46.54% (74/159), respectively( χ2=21.596, P<0.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that high white/globulin ratio and PLT counts( OR=0.246 and 0.986, both P<0.001)were the protective factors for liver tissue injury; while negative HBcAg staining and elevated ALT and GGT levels ( OR=3.797, 1.053 and 1.013, P<0.001 or <0.05) were the risk factors of liver injury. ROC curve demonstrated the ALT threshold of liver tissue damage in male and female patients were 25.6 U/L and 25.5 U/L. Conclusions:In chronic HBV infection patients with normal ALT, with the increase of ALT level, the degree of liver tissue pathological damage may become more severe. The study demonstrates that it is necessary to lower the ALT threshold for protecting patients from liver tissue pathological damage.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the feasibility and the effect of surgical resection of hepatic tumor originated from segment IXb.
METHODSThe cases with hepatic tumors in segment IXb who had been operated on between March 2003 and January 2007 were retrospectively reviewed.
RESULTSA total of 15 tumors in segment IXb, including 13 primary liver cancers and 2 benign tumors with a mean diameter of (4.3 +/- 1.6) cm, were successfully resected by anterior transhepatic approach under sequential occlusions of portal tride and total hepatic vascularity or portal tride clamping only. There was no operative mortality, with a mean operative time of (190.3 +/- 37.6) min and a mean operative blood lose of (376.7 +/- 252.7) ml. All the patients had uneventful postoperative course except one who suffered from ascites and edema of the low body, which was successfully managed medically. The mean postoperative hospital stay was (13.3 +/- 6.0) d. During the follow-up of 1-47 months, two patients with benign tumor enjoyed a normal life. Among the 13 patients with primary live cancers, 1 patient died of recurrence, 2 patients remained alive with intrahepatic recurrence and 10 patients survived without any sign of relapse, with a median tumor-free survival time of 23.5 months.
CONCLUSIONSSurgical resection of hepatic tumor in segment IXb, despite their sophisticated anatomic position, is feasible in technique with high safety. The local resection can provide the patients with potential to cure.

Chinese Journal of Surgery 2008;46(10):776-779
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the influence of extended hepatic pedicle occlusion (HPO) on hepatic ischemic/reperfusion (I/R) injury and intraoperative blood loss in major hepatectomy for primary liver cancer (PLC).
METHODSBetween June 2001 and December 2005, a total number of 843 patients with PLC had been operated on. Those whose hepatic pedicle were occluded continuously for or longer than 30 min during hepatectomy were retrospectively reviewed (continuous HPO group) and compared to the patients whose hepatic pedicle were occluded for the same length of time but intermittently (intermittent HPO group). The amount of intraoperative blood loss, the percentage of the patients who needed blood transfusion and postoperative liver biochemical tests were compared between the two groups.
RESULTSThere were 35 cases in continuous HPO group and 38 cases in intermittent HPO group with occlusion time between 30 min and 45 min. The two groups were matched for underlying liver disease ,preoperative liver function, tumor size and location, major intrahepatic vessel involvements and the types and extensions of the hepatectomies. The mean intraoperative blood loss in continuous HPO group was significantly less than that in intermittent HPO group (660 ml vs. 1054 ml, P < 0.05); accordingly, the percentage of patients who need blood transfusion in continuous HPO group was significantly lower than that in intermittent HPO group (48.6% vs. 78.9%, P < 0.01). Patients in both of the groups were recovered smoothly after operation, with no occurrence of liver failure.
CONCLUSIONSThe hepatic pedicle can be continuously occluded for 3045 min in cirrhotic patients with well compensated liver function, and when compared to routine intermittent HPO, continuous HPO significantly decreases the intraoperative blood loss and reduces the need for transfusion. Meanwhile it does not increase the hepatic I/R injury.

Methods:
Inorganic arsenic, food or diet were used as Chinese keywords and arsenic, food and China were used as English keywords to search for literatures related to the dietary inorganic arsenic exposure published by China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform and PubMed Database. Using the data from the China National Nutrition and Health Survey (CNNHS) in 2002 to estimate the dietary inorganic arsenic exposure in Chinese residents. The annual cancer cases attributed to the dietary inorganic arsenic exposure were calculated based on the data from Chinese Cancer Registry Annual Report in 2013. The disability adjusted life year (DALY) was calculated using tools built by WHO.
Results:
The total DALY of cancer caused by the dietary inorganic arsenic exposure was 419.4 thousand, and the DALY rate was 31.47 per 100 000. The DALY of lung cancer in males and females was 237.7 thousand and 102.5 thousand. The DALY of bladder cancer in males and females was 13.2 thousand and 3.9 thousand. The DALY of skin cancer in males and females was 29.4 thousand and 32.8 thousand.
Conclusion
In 2013, the Chinese population had a lower burden of cancer due to the dietary exposure to inorganic arsenic.
