Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2014;30(2):153-156
OBJECTIVETo observe the changes of mitochondria stress in locus coeruleus and the tyrosine hydroxylasic projection after long-term sleep deprivation.
METHODSSleep deprivation mice model was set up by employing "novel environments" method. The expression of NAD -dependent deacetylase Sirtuin type 3 (SIRT3), which regulates mitochondrial energy production and oxidative stress, and heat shock protein 60 (HSP60), a major biomarker of mitochondrial stress, and the tyrosine hydroxylasic projection from locus coeruleus were analyzed after a 5-day sleep deprivation.
RESULTSCompared to the control group, the expression of SIRT3 in locus coeruleus was significantly decreased in respouse to long-term sleep deprivation, while the expression of HSP60 was significantly increased. In addition, relative to control group, pereentage area of the tyrosine hydroxylasic projection to anterior cingulate cortex was substantial decreased in long-term sleep deprivation group.
CONCLUSIONLong-term sleep deprivation induced the decreased level of SIRT3 expression and the elevation of mitochondrial stress in locus coenileus, which may further lead to the loss of tyrosine hydroxylasic projection in mice.

Objective To develop a portable end-tidal carbon dioxide monitor for the patient's physiological monitoring during the process of the first aid and transport. Methods MCU was used as the core of the control system to communicate with the ETCO2 detection module and the SD memory module. The power supply module and software system were realized for the monitor. Results The monitor had high stability, reliability and performances. Conclusion The monitor meets the desired requirements, and can be used for the monitoring of the patients during first aid or transportation.

Biodegradable PLGA [poly(lactide-co-glycolide acid)] have shown significant potential for sustained and targeted delivery of several pharmaceutical agents, including DNA. We reviewed the formulating approaches of PLGA nanoparticles/microspheres as DNA carriers and utilization for gene therapy and vaccine adjuvant.

Objective To investigate the changes of plasma levels of homocysteine (Hcy) and monocyte chemoattract protein 1 (MCP 1) in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients and to analyze the effect of Hcy on the expression of MCP 1. Methods The CAD diagnosis of all the studied subjects was confirmed by coronary angiography. A total of 70 patients with CAD and 50 control subjects were recruited in the study. Plasma Hcy concentration, plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) and plasma MCP 1 were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), standard protocols and ELISA, respectively. Results Plasma levels of Hcy, MDA and MCP 1 in patients with CAD were significantly higher than those in the control subjects ( P

OBJECTIVE:To investigate new thought and method for improving the practice teaching effect of pharmacy under-graduates under the collaboration of medicine and education. METHODS:The training objectives of pharmacist team, the current sit-uations and problems of teaching that existing in the institute of pharmacy and the requirement of talents in the work were summa-rized and investigated, and then reform targets and measures were put forward. RESULTS:Training for pharmacists tream gradual-ly movedcloser to clinical pharmacists in China. The teaching work in the pharmacy department of our hospital was relatively com-plete,including relevant teaching system, practice systems and processes, training program for clinical pharmacists and develop-ment of workflow;however, there still remained some problems, including lacking of professional quality training, suitable cours-es,effective interactive medical and education scientific assessment mode and no attention for the training of clinical thinking and school-university research thinking. The above-mentioned problems needed to be solved by reforming internship tutorial system and improving the contents, establishing the school-hospital united system, emphasizing the connection between schools and teaching bases, establishing integrated teaching evaluation system and assessment criteria, strengthening clinical experience and training for clinical thinking by the teaching mode of physicians and pharmacists. CONCLUSIONS:Strengthening the collaboration of medicine and education and improving the training standards and evaluation system are helpful for improving the practice teaching quality of pharmacy undergraduates.

Objective To present the distinction on clinical features, laboratory features, treatment schemes between the patients with and without brucellar epididymo-orchitis,and to provide a theoretical basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods A retrospective analysis of 223 male patients with brucellosis in the First Hospital of Jilin University from June 2010 to November 2016 was carried out.A comparative analysis of the clinical and laboratory features of 22 patients with epididymo-orchitis and 201 cases without epididymo-orchitis was done. The SPSS 23.0 software was used to analyze the statistical results,P < 0.05 was defined as statistically significant. Results Epididymo-orchitis occurred in 9.87% (22/223) of all male patients with brucellosis. The median ages of patients with and without epididymo-orchitis were 35.5 and 42.0 years old, respectively, the difference was not statistically significant (Z =1.323,P > 0.05).Cases with and without epididymo-orchitis of brucellosis with fever [90.9% (20/22) vs 69.2% (139/201)],chills [54.4% (12/22) vs 28.9% (58/201)],hepatomegaly [22.7% (5/22) vs 3.5% (7/201)],abdominal symptoms [59.1% (13/22) vs 17.4% (35/201)],and urinary tract infection symptoms [31.8% (7/22) vs 3.5% (7/201)],the differences were statistically significant (x2 =4.586,6.076,14.424,20.392,27.059,all P < 0.05).The medians of white blood cell (WBC) count (7.9 × 109/L),erythrocyte sedimentation value (ESR,38.0 mm/h),and aspartate aminotransferase (AST,110.0 U/L) in brucellosis with epididymo-orchitis were higher than those without epididymo-orchitis (5.1 × 109/L, 30.0 mm/h,73.8 U/L),the differences were statistically significant (Z =2.239,2.064,2.762,all P < 0.05).All brucellosis patients with epididymis-orchitis were treated with antibiotics for 8 weeks. The defervescence time was 4.5 days, the time of pain relief was 3.9 days,21 patients were cured, and only Ⅰ patient relapsed. Conclusions Epididymo-orchitis is a common complication of brucellosis.Brucellar epididymo-orchitis is usually characterized with a severe acute clinical presentation, which needs timely diagnosis.Combination of antibiotics treatment for 8 weeks in brucellosis patients with epididymis-orchitis is effective.

Objective To evaluate the clinical application of fat granule auto-graft in facial soft tissue depression reconstruction. Methods Autologous subcutaneous fat granules were obtained by syringe aspiration from donating site.then washed with normal saline.Small amounts of fat granules were injected into the facial sites with soft tissue depression by means of multiple passes immediately. Results We performed such fat iniection in a total of 18 cases, all of the procedures were safe and successful. In most cases, single injection were enough, only one underwent two sessions of fat iniection. All members were followed-up for 1.5 months to 24months,the average were 14 months. All facial tissue depression were reconstructed for difierent degrees. The rate of fullness and symmetry.fullness and pretty symmetry and fullness with little asymmetry were 77.8%,16.7%and 5.5%.respectively.No infection, fat necrosis or liquefaction occured. Conclusion Being satisfled in correction of deformity of facial depression.the implantation of autologous fat globules iS safe and effective with less side-effects.
