Objective To investigate the factors relevant to the vascular calcification in uiemic patients.Methods Eighty-five uiemic patients were enrolled in this study.The levels of fetuin-A,serum calcium,serum phosphorus,C-reactive protein and other parameters related to calcification were examined.B-ultrasound was used to detect carotid plaques.Results The Fetuin-A levels in patients with vascular calcification were significantly lower than those with non-vascular calcification[(2.34±0.95) μg/L vs (3.79±1.19) μg/L,t=5.94,P＜0.01],but serum calcium,serum phosphorus and C-reactive protein were higher than those non-vascular calcification [serum phosphorus (1.97±0.23) mmol/L vs (1.80±0.33) mmol/L,t=2.05,P＜0.05;calcium and phosphorus product (50.04±6.61) mg~2/dl~2 vs (44.84±9.75) mg~2/dl~2,t=2.05,P＜0.05;C-reactive protein (33.45±25.11)mmol/L vs (20.65±13.43) mmol/L,t=2.03,P＜0.05].Linear correlation analysis indicated that low fetuin-A level was correlated with C-reactive protein (r=-0.43,P＜0.01),calcium-phosphorus product (r=-0.32,P＜0.01),serum albumin concentration (r=0.37,P＜0.05) and phosphorus level (r=-0.36,P＜0.05).Conclusions The risk factors relevant to the vascular calcification are high serum phosphorus,calcium and phosphorus product and the micro-inflammatory status in uiemic patients.Vascular calcification is also correlated with low fetuinA level,adding exogenous Fetuin-A may become an effective means in preventing vascular calcification.

Objective To evaluate atrial stunning and the recovery of atrial function after successful cardioversion in the patients with atrial fibrillation by utilizing tissue Doppler imaging(TDI) and M-mode echocardiography in atria-ventricular annulus motion, together with pulsed Doppler echocardiography and apexcardiogram. Methods Thirty-four patients with atrial fibrillation received ultrasound examinations in 1 hour,1 day,1 week and 1 month after successful cardioversion. The results were compared with those of 20 age-matched healthy individuals. From the echocardiography apical 4-chamber views, the atrial mechnical activities in the mitral and tricuspid annulus were recorded using two-dimensional echocardiography guided M-mode and TDI. Furthermore, pulsed Doppler transmitral and transtricuspid inflow velocity and apexcardiogram were also recorded. Atrial stunning means the lack of atrial mechanical function after atrial electrical activity was recovered with successful cardioversion. Results Left and right atrial functions after cardioversion were both inferior to those of the healthy ones,but improved with time,up to 1 week right arial function turned basically to normal and 1 month left one recovered to normal.The incidence of atrial stunning in left and right atrium accounted for (20.6)% and (14.7)% respectively at 1 hour after successful cardioversion, (11.76)% and (14.7)% at 1 day, (6.5)% and (3.2)% at 1 week. Conclusions Both left and right atrial functions are lower than the normal after cardioversion,and atrial stunning happens in both atria.Left and right atria recover to normal respectively in 1 month and 1 week.

Objective: To investigate the tendency and correlation between connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP) in human pulmonary fibroblasts-1 (HPF-1) induced by transforming growth factor beta1 (TGF-?_1) at different times. Methods: After the HPF-1 cells were stimulated with TGF-?_1 (5 ?g/L) at different times (0 h, 3 h,6 h,12 h and 24 h),CTGF and LRP mRNA expressions were analyzed by RT-PCR. The same preparation steps of cell culture were repeated, then, the protein expressions were determined by Western Blot, co-immunoprecipitation Western Blot and immunocytochemistry. Objective To evaluate atrial stunning after successful cardioversion in patients with atrial fibrillation by utilizing tissue Doppler imaging(TDI),M-mode echocardiography in left atria-ventricuhr annulus motion,together with pulsed Doppler echocardiography and apexcardiogram.Methods Thirtyeight patients with atrial fibrillation who in 1 hour after successfully underwent electrical or pharmacological cardioversion were involved.The peak motion velocity of mitral annulus during atrial contraction period(Am)and peak motion velocity during early diastolic period(Em) was detected by TDI.The biggest motion argument of mitral annulus during atrial contraction period(DAD)and biggest motion argument during early diastolic period(DED)was detected byM-mode echocardiography.The blood flow velocity of mitral during early diastole(E)and atrial contraction(A) was also measured by pulsed Dopphr echocardiography and pressure wave during atrial systole was recorded by apexcardiogram.The patients were divided into two groups according to whether they had atrial stunning(atrial stunning group and non-atrial stunning group).Results The incidence of atrial stunning occurred in left atrium was 28.9%(11/38)at 1 hour after successful cardioversion.There was no significant difference in cardioversion method between two groups(P>0.05).The patients in atrial stunning group had longer duration of atrial fibrillation and Larger left atrium(P<0.05).A,Am and DAD in the atrial systole period in atrial stunning group was 0.but in non-atrial stunning group was(43±34)cm/s,(6±4)cm/s,(0.27 ±0.18)cm,respectively,and there were significant difference between two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Atrial stunning can happen in left atrium after successful cardioversion,and atrial stunning is related to the duration of atrial fibrillation and the dimension of left atrium.

The fetal stage is a critical period for brain development. Intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR)af-fects the growth of fetus and impairs the brain development severely,resulting in long - term neurological sequelae such as motor and behavioral disorders. Since their brain underdevelopment originated in the uterus,postnatal interventions usually fail to improve the brain function. Then antenatal interventions become urgent to protect the brain,taurine has appeared a high practical value in improving the brain development. The adverse effects of IUGR on fetal brain develop-ment and the possibilities of antenatal interventions were introduced in this paper in order to improve the prognosis of the nervous system.

Objective·To investigate the correlation between the serum haptoglobin (Hp) level and the metabolic parameters in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and explore the distribution of Hp genotype and allele frequency in PCOS patients and their correlations with PCOS. Methods·A total of 106 patients with PCOS and 86 cases of patients with non-hyperandrogenic and regular menstruation (control group) were enrolled. Serum Hp level was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA); Hp genotype and allele frequency were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), respectively. Results·The serum Hp level in PCOS group was significant higher than that in the control group (P=0.000). Correlation analysis reveals that serum Hp level was positively related to body mass index (BMI) (P=0.000) and homeostatic model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (P=0.000). Compared with control group, proportion of Hp2-2 genotype (Hp2/Hp2) increased significantly in PCOS group (P=0.006), and the frequency of Hp2 allele was also higher (P=0.002). Conclusion·Serum Hp level was positively related to BMI and HOMA-IR, which maybe associated with the occurrence and development of obesity and insulin resistance. Patients with Hp2-2 genotype might have genetic predisposition to PCOS, and high frequency Hp2 allele was found in them.

Objective To comparatively analyze the cognition and feelings of professional self-con-cept of nurse (PSCN) between nursing students and nursing staff and and to propose recommendations for the education of nursing students. Methods Professional self-concept of nurses instrument (PSCNI) scale was used to investigate the self evaluation of nursing students and nursing staff in the aspects of nursing skills, leadership, flexibility,satisfaction degree and communication skills. SPSS 19.0 was used to analyze the total scores and scores of each aspects; F test and t test were used to analyze the difference between two groups. Results Total score for nursing students and nursing staff were (81.27±7.40) points (67.7%) and (85.00±7.96) points (70.0%), with significant differences between the two groups (P=0.003). Scores in as-pects of nurturing skills, communication, flexibility were higher in nursing staff than in nursing students, with significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion The cognition and feeling of nursing staff is better than nursing students in aspects of nurturing skills, communication, flexibility. Nursing teaching can correspondingly improved based on the differences between the two groups.
