Objective To investigate the effect of the new polyamine analogue tetrabutyl propanediamine (TBP) on cell proliferation and the underlying mechanism. Methods MTT assay was performed to determine cell proliferation. Flow cytometry was performed to detect cell cycle transition. DNA fragmentation and mitochondrial membrane potential determinations were performed to detect cell apoptosis. The activity of key enzymes in polyamine catabolism was detected by chemiluminescence assay. Results TBP could significantly inhibit the proliferation of HL-60 cells by blockingcell cycle transition and by inducing apoptosis. The TBP-induced apoptosis of HL-60 cells was in a dose-dependent manner. The enzyme activities of SMO and APAO were also significantly increased in HL-60 cells after treatment with 100 μM TBP for 24 hours. Conclusions TBP, as a new putrescine analogue, could inhibit proliferation of HL-60 cells by increasing the enzyme activity of SMO and APAO and inducing apoptosis.

Objective:To investigate the clinical features of ocular involvement and the application of Rose criteria in patients with relapsing polychondritis (RP).Methods:The data from RP patients with ocular involvement were collected and analyzed. Patients included must have at least one major criteria of Michet criteria and the application Rose criteria was also investigated. Demographic data of these patients was presented as percentages. The difference between types of disease onset was tested by Mann-Whitney U and comparison among groups was tested by False Discovery Rate. Results:A total of 192 patients were enrolled 98 males and 94 females. The mean age of disease onset was (42±14) (0.5-79) years old, the median disease duration (DD) was 13(0.5, 600) months. The median RP disease activity index (RPDAI) was 39(9-74) and the median RP organ damage index (RPODI) was 2.5(0.1, 108). The median RP damage index (RPDAM) was 3(1-6). The statistical significant difference was identified in median DD between groups of nose and pinna ( Z=10.775, P<0.01), nose and OEH ( Z=9.277, P<0.01), in RPODI between groups of nose and pinna ( Z=7.999, P=0.031), nose and and extra-cranial organs ( Z=8.115, P=0.030) and eye and airway involvement of RPDAM could be seen between groups ( Z=7.683, P=0.037) respectively. Ocular involvement(50.0%), auricular chondritis(21.4%) and airway chondritis(13.5%) were the top three most common symptoms at disease onset. The ocular involvement(100%), airway chondritis (75.0%) and inner ear involvement(69.3%) were the top three most frequent affected organs. All parts of eye could be involved in RP ocular damage. Single-organ involvement was 59.9%; and multi-organ involvement could be seen in 40.1% patients. Diagnostic strength was enhanced by application of Rose criteria in 171 cases fulfilled Michet criteria and 21(10.9%) cases partially fulfilled Michet criteria fulfilled Rose criteria. Active screening for organ (especially inner ear and airway) involvement would improve the rate of early diagnosis. The pinna and airway involvement suggested nose and middle-ear might be involved. Conclusion:Ocular involvement in RP can involve all parts of the eye ball. Examining the inner ear and airway may help to confirm the diagnosis. It is worthy to apply this to clinical practice.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of SalB on bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) apoptosis induced by hypoxia and serum deprivation (hypoxia/SD) in the vitro. Methods BMSCs were cultured in the vitro and randomly divided into control group, hypoxia/SD group and SalB group.SalB group was composed by four groups and were pretreated by complete medium with 0.1、 1、 10、 100 mg/L SalB for 1 hour. And after that they were washed with phosphate buffer for 2 times, added by IMDM with 0.1、1、 10、 100 mg/L SalB and cultured with hypoxia/SD group together in the same condition of hypoxia/SD for 6hours. The control group was cultured for 6 hours in the condition of aerobic and enough serum. Apoptosis was detected by Hoechst33342 staining with inverted phase contrast, fluorescence microscope and Annexin V/PI dual-color flow cytometry. Results Significant apoptosis of BMSCs was induced by hypoxia/SD in the vitro.The early apoptosis of BMSCs induced by hypoxia/SD was significantly decreased by SalB of 0.1、 1、 10 mg/L(P＜0.05) . Conclusion0.1、 1、 10 mg/L SalB can decrease the early apoptosis of BMSCs induced by hypoxia/SD.

The acetabular fractures are technically challenging due to the deep location in the pelvis and low degree of exposure.Although the classic ilioinguinal approach could treat most anterior acetabulum fractures,the limited surgical field and difficulty in exposure is the main obstacle surgeons should overcome.Various approaches including extended approaches and combined anterior and posterior approaches ensure adequate exposure,but high rate of complications impede it from clinical use.The Stoppa approach has been favored by the orthopedic surgeons in recent years for the minimized surgical dissection and good exposure.It allows for extensive visualization of the pelvic brim and direct manipulation of quadrilateral plate.This approach is indicated in all anterior column and wall fractures,combined anterior column and posterior hemi-transverse fractures,selected both-column fractures,transverse and T-fractures.The utilization of the Stoppa approach developed along with the evolution of the relevant theory of acetabular fractures in the past years.The development such as the precise measurement of “safe zone” and the application of new apparatus could do great help in decreasing the complications and improving the surgical results.This article summarizes the relevant literatures and provides a review of the advances in the Stoppa approach in acetabular fractures.

Objective To compare the safe zone and safe angles between males and females for screw placement on the medial iliosciatic plate for acetabular posterior column using 3D reconstruction technique.Methods Normal pelvic CT scans of 52 adults (27 males and 25 females;aged from 18 to 74 years,averaging 47.2 years) were obtained to create pelvic 3D models.After the acetabulum was thickened by 5 mm,the width (d) of the safe zone for placement of the medial iliosciatic plate was measured.After the vertical distance (w) between the vertex of the obturator canal and the greater sciatic notch was measured,the ratio (r) of d/w was calculated.The recombined innominatum model was cut through the center of the acetabulum with a plane perpendicular to the quadrilateral plate and the greater sciatic notch.The cross-section was marked as M.In males,4 points at distances of 1.0 cm,1.5 cm,2.0 cm and 2.5 cm anterior to the greater sciatic notch were marked.At the 4 points,the angulations (∠ a,∠b,∠ c and ∠ d) between the quadrilateral plate and the tangent line of the outer edge of the thickened acetabulum model were measured on the cross-section M.In females,3 points at distances of 1.0 cm,1.5 cm and 2.0 cm anterior to the greater sciatic notch were marked before ∠a,∠b,and ∠c were measured.The differences in the above parameters were compared between males and females.Results The width (d) of the safe zone for placement of the medial iliosciatic plate was 28.56 ±2.44 mm in males and 24.36 ±2.47 mm in females;the ratio (r) was 0.61 ± 0.07 in males and 0.54 ± 0.05 in females.The safe angulations for screw placement in males,∠ a,∠b,∠cand ∠d,were 88.04°±3.18°,77.81°±3.85°,68.01°±4.11°and56.81°±4.81° while those in females,∠a,∠b and ∠c,were 91.29°±4.52°,76.23°±3.82° and 62.79°±3.51°,respectively.There were statistically significant differences between males and females in values of d,r,∠ a and ∠ c (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions In fixation of acetabular posterior column fractures using medial iliosciatic plate,the differences between males and females should be taken into account.Besides,specific safe angles should be chosen according to the position of the plate.

Miscanthus sinensis Anderss is a perennial C4-grass. It is a promising bioenergy plant, which has been proposed as general feedstock for biomass and lignocellulosic biofuel production. In this study, the flower and leaf buds transcriptomes of Miscanthus sinensis Anderss were sequenced by the platform of Illumina HiSeq 2000. In total 98 326 Unigenes were generated by de novo assembly with an average length of 822 bp and N50 of 1 023 bp. Based on the NR, NT, Swiss-Prot, KEGG, GO and COG databases (Evalue < le-5), 74 134 (75.40%) Unigenes were annotated. A total of 45 507 Unigenes were mapped into different GO terms. In KEGG pathways identification, 36 710 sequences were assigned to 128 KEGG pathways. Sorghum bicolor (37 731, 60.86%), Zea mays (16 258, 26.22%), and Oryza sativa (3 065, 4.94%) showed high similarity to Miscanthus sinensis Anderss. And 24 photosynthesis-related enzyme genes were identified. The result provides a foundation for further characterizing the functional genes in Miscanthus sinensis Anderss.

Objective: To investigate the mechanisms of mitochondrial apoptosis in spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury and the effects of Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi Injection preconditioning intervention. Methods: Sixty Japanese rabbits were divided into sham-operated group, ischemia group, ischemia-reperfusion group (1, 6, 24 and 48 h), and Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi Injection group (1, 6, 24 and 48 h). Clamping the abdominal aorta was used to construct the rabbit model of spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury. The rabbits in the ischemia-reperfusion group and the Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi Injection group underwent reperfusion for 1, 6, 24, 48 h respectively after fifty-minute ischemia. The rabbits in the Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi Injection group were administered with Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi Injection at 9 mg/kg 30 minutes before ischemia. Rate of apoptotic cells was measured by flow cytometry; contents of caspase-9 and apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) in cytoplasm and serum were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: Compared with the sham-operated group and the ischemia group, the rates of apoptotic cells, the contents of caspase-9 and AIF in cytoplasm were increased at all time points after reperfusion, and the contents of caspase-9 and AIF in serum were decreased after 1 h and 6 h reperfusion, and increased after 24 h and 48 h reperfusion in the ischemia-reperfusion group. Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi Injection intervention could decrease the rate of apoptotic cells and the contents of caspase-9 and AIF in cytoplasm and serum as compared with those in the ischemia-reperfusion group, and the effects appeared after 1 h reperfusion. Conclusion: The apoptosis of nerve cells after spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion is related to the mitochondrial pathways. Herba Erigerontis Breviscapi Injection can inhibit nerve cell apoptosis by decreasing the contents of caspase-9 and AIF in cytoplasm and serum.

Objective To investigate the effect and mechanism of transplantation of marrow multi- function stem ceils in treating femoral head necrosis.Methods Sixty japanese rabbits were divided into A,B and C groups randomly.After creation of the models of hormone induced necrosis of femoral head;A group was designated as the treatment,B as the control and C as the normal groups.The bone marrow of A group was extracted and isolated and then injected into the left femoral head and the right femoral head was decompressed by drilling only.The rabbits were killed at 8 weeks after the treatment and changes in various parameters were observed,including imaging data of molybdenum target films,CT and MRI;routine pathology with HE staining and ultrastructural alteration by election microscopy.Results Eight weeks after the treatment of transplantation of marrow multifunction stem cells,the X-ray showed only a little change but the typical appearances were revealed by CT and MRI.Pathohistologic manifestation demonstrated decrease of empty bone lacuna,increase of osteoblast and new bone formation.Election microscopy displayed abundant organelles in osteoblasts with few empty bone lacuna,in addition the tansplantation of marrow multifunction stem cells could obtain better reconstraction for the involved femoral head.Conclusions The treatment of transplantation of marrow muhifunction stem cells in femoral head necrosis could accelerate the process of repairing,worthy to be acknowledged as a good and valuable management in rabbits.(J Intervent Radial,2007,16:122-126)

Objective To investigate the clinical significance and distribution of different rotational displacements on the sagittal plane in unstable pelvic fractures radiologically.Methods We retrospectively reviewed 82 patients with unilateral pelvic fracture who had been treated at our department from June 2005 to June 2015.They were 48 men and 34 women,with an average age of 43 ± 18 years.By Tile classification,there were 48 cases of type B and 34 cases of type C.Their rotational displacements on the sagittal plane of the pelvic ring were determined on the anteroposterior X-ray films of the pelvis by measuring the changed distances from the top of iliac crest to the lowest point of ischial tuberosity and to the pubic tubercle.The data were recorded for analysis of different displacements and their clinical significance.Results Of all the 82 patients,based on the preoperative radiographic evidence,36 (43.9％) showed sagittal plane rotational displacement.Of them,28 (77.8％) showed supination displacement and 8 (22.2％) pronation displacement.The preoperative CT three-dimensional reconstruction confirmed the findings from the X-ray films.Twenty-one of the 48 cases of Tile type B (43.8％) and 15 of the 34 cases of Tile type C (44.1％) showed sagittal plane rotational displacement.The success rate of closed reduction was,respectively,66.7％ (24/36) in the 36 cases with sagittal plane rotational displacement,62.5％ (5/8) in those with pronation displacement and 67.9％ (19/28) in those with supination displacement,all significantly lower than the total success rate of closed reduction in this cohort(84.1％).Conclusions The sagittal plane rotational (pronation and supination) displacement of pelvic fracture can be determined by measuring special points and lines on the anteroposterior radiographs of the pelvis.The supination displacement on the sagittal plane is more common.The unstable pelvic fracture with sagittal plane rotational displacement is more difficult to reduce.

Objective:To investigate the change regularity and influencing factors of subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) with age among adults.Methods:A cross-sectional study was adopted.A total of 281 Chinese adults, aged between 21 and 90, were selected from working staff and retired staff of an institution who underwent routine physical examinations from June to October 2016 in Beijing Tongren Hospital.One eye of each subject was included in the study according to the random number table method.The subjects were divided into different age groups including 21-30 years group, 31-40 years group, 41-50 years group, 51-60 years group, 61-70 years group, 71-80 years group and 81-90 years group.The SFCT was measured at the fovea and at 500 μm, 1 000 μm and 2 000 μm nasal (N) and temporal (T) to fovea by high definition-optical coherence tomography.Multiple linear regression equation was used to analyze the influence of ages, gender, intraocular pressure (IOP), spherical equivalent (SE) and retinal thickness on SFCT.This study followed the Declaration of Helsinki and was approved by the Ethics Committee of Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University (No.TRECKY2016-012). Written informed consent was obtained from each patient prior to any examination.Results:Mean SFCT of eligible 229 subjects (229 eyes) was (218.73±79.69)μm.Choroid became thinner gradually towards nasal and temporal part.There were significant differences in SFCT, N2 000, N1 000, N500, T500, T1 000 and T2 000 among all age groups ( F=27.05, 22.85, 25.38, 29.11, 32.55, 29.22, 28.70, all at P<0.01). Choroidal thicknesses of all locations showed age-related linear decrease with a steep drop after 50 years old ( R2ranged 0.35-0.47, all at P<0.01). SFCT was associated with SE (β=-10.07, P<0.01) and age (β=-2.43, P<0.01) but not related with gender (β=-19.69, P=0.057), foveal thickness (β=0.02, P=0.897) or IOP (β=-0.86, P=0.466). Conclusions:SFCT shows an age related linear decrease with a steep decline after 50 years old, which was associated with aging and higher SE in myopia, but not related with gender, foveal thickness or IOP within the normal range.
